A loud 'crack' and the soft swish of robes brushing the broken stone ground heralded the abrupt arrival of a new person to the Ruins of the once-glorious Diadem fortress.
With a cautious glance around, Radek took in the extent of the damage. Having left Diadem the night of it’s destruction, he knew not what had truly happened here. He was standing now in what had formerly been the central plaza of Diadem fortress. There was no glory left in these ruins, it was a decrepit pile of rubble for the most part. Yet still, there was a magic in the very earth still residing here; whether existing because of the presence of the shadows for such a time or having been the very reason this location has been selected for the construction of the fortress in the first place, it was still a grand location for the beginning of an empire.
One curious structure that Radek did not remember from before that stood undamaged in the midst of the rubble was a tall obsidian stone. Walking over to examine the stone, he saw an inscription upon it’s surface.
“Remember, mortal, as you pass by,
As you are now, so once was I....
As I am now, so shall you be....
So prepare thyself, and follow me…”
As he finished reading, the corners of his mouth twitched slightly, as though he was almost about to grin, while at the same time having the muscles in his face long ago forgetting how to do this gesture after years of no practice. “Reducto.” he said simply; and with a tremendous “BANG”, the stone was reduced to rubble, just like everything else in this place. Though the stone had been in no way any sort of obstruction to any of his plans, it’s destruction to him was symbolic of the Society’s ultimate fall, as now even their former bastion of strength no longer belonged in their hands.
All that was left now was to wait for Hector and Dominique so he could begin the reconstruction.
