The woman had been simply relaxing and sipping her drink, sitting at the table, lost in her thoughts. She hadn't really been paying attention to the goings-on, considering she had never been much for dances and did not intend on having a partner to dance with here tonight.
Marina was talented as a quidditch player and flyer, but when it came to dancing she had always been completely useless. In her childhood she had attended a few weddings, and at every one she had only managed to tread on the toes of anyone who dare to dance with her.
When Talon addressed her, at first Nina seemed a little shell-shocked, and she didn't respond. However, she did blush slightly and her eyes showed clear panic. She was about to voice her protest when she realized that the Headmaster was probably just as embarrassed as he was, considering he was realizing that his garb was not nearly as stylish as he'd intended it to be. Perhaps it would soothe his ego to have a properly dressed woman to dance with, even if she would scuff his dress shoes.
"I guess so..." she said at length, taking his hand and standing, though she was certainly hoping he knew how to dance better than she did and could lead her. If not, they would be a hopeless mess on the floor, and her ineptitude would only bruise his ego even more, and maybe her own as well.

At the far end of the Hall, an unfamiliar man stood just inside the doorway. He was clearly no student ... at least, the points of his fangs that pressed against his lower lip seemed not to support that possibility.
'How sweet,' he thought to himself as he watched Professor Windwaltz extend his hand to Nina's for a dance. Unconsciously, he curled his fingers towards his palms, his hands resting at his sides in tense fists. He looked elegant dressed in black with a new cloak of long black velvet that stretched to the floor and was sewn through with sparkling silver threads like his older, midnight-blue cloak. Even his lips were twisted into a smirk, which could, perhaps, have appeared mirthful to the uninformed observer. But she would know better.
The cold look in his eyes, however, no one could possibly mistake: malicious desire lurked behind his green irises, nearly the same shade as Nina's own. Blaise watched her make her way towards the dance floor with the Headmaster, waiting stock-still by the doorway for her to meet his gaze.
Shortly after returning to FFU after a long summer, Kat found notice of the date of the start of term feast. However, it had been slightly altered in meaning. This year, there was to be a start of term dance, much more interesting for the teenage witch community. However, for the professors, a chance to sit and "act their age" and merely scoff at the younger ones. Kat had decided to sport a short, green, off the shoulder dress that showed off her new tan. She had put her long blond hair in a simple but elegant looking bun. She had come to the conclusion that fluffy ball gowns were a no-go, and had been since she had reached the age of twenty. Still, Kat did not want to look dead. She had taken her seat in the feasting hall a little late, as she always was. However, not late enough to miss the silence she had momentarily forgot occurred.
The staff table was generally quiet, unless she was arguing with the old charms professor. Kat, however, did not have Anil to argue with. She sat at the table, looking around the hall at the colorful array of students that were arriving with blushing expressions on there face. Gazing down the staff table, she noticed she had sat next to Melia Bircheel, the potions professor. A few professors were talking, but all and all, the staff table had its general silence. This was broken however, with their headmaster standing up and walking to the podium.
Kat could feel herself choke a bit on the white wine she had been sipping. She hadn't even noticed Talon's outfit until he started to address the students. Kat could feel herself stifling laughter. She felt embarrassed for him, simply because it was a hideous ensemble. He deserved props for coming into public like that, Kat thought. Though there were many news faces accompanying the staff table this year, one familiar face still caught Kat a little by surprise, but she smiled. It was Marina Rosewood, a graduate of FFU. Kat wondered when she had been named professor, and of what. The headmaster had asked her to dance, and Kat smiled at the two. Marina looked miserable, but with the promise of a smile when he offered his hand- or maybe not. Kat watched as the two walked onto the dance floor and wondered if she was about to see a show. She felt content at an FFU feast for the first time since she started here. The silence which always accompanied a evening at the staff table did not even damper her mood.
Are you, are you Coming to the tree Where I told you to run, so we'd both be free? Strange things did happen here No stranger would it seem If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Amy looked over to the mysterious stranger who she didn't recognize. He stood near the doorway. Clearly, he isn't a student, with his face looking much older than an student's would She stood up from the staff table and went to where he was standing. "Hello, I'm Amy," she said to the stranger. "I don't believe you teach here?" she questioned.

Blaise had been staring so fixedly at the one he had come to see that he didn't even notice another female Professor's presence at his side until she spoke. Cool and confident as ever, the Vampire swallowed his surprise and turned to look at the woman who had spoken to him. She was, he noticed, quite beautiful, and the tight bodice of her dress with its wide squared neckline displayed perfectly the creamy skin of her neck and bosom, the graceful angles of her collarbone.
His smirk widened as it was redirected at her. "Why, what a surprise," he replied, his voice smooth, cool, and self-assured. "I had come only to see an old friend of mine, and wasn't expecting to make any new ones. My name is Blaise Eria, and you are correct, I am not a teacher here." He paused for a moment, taking in the deep shining color of the woman's long hair, then turned to cast a glance at the dance floor. Nina must have seen him by now ... but he supposed it didn't really matter. She was clearly not overjoyed by his presence.
'She'll get what's coming to her,' he mused, 'but first - '
"So, Amy," the Vampire began again, extending his left hand to the beautiful Professor, "would you like to dance while we get acquainted?"

She was feeling uncomfortable in all the stragers she saw... she saw a group of Weasley's... her siblings, at a small table... she didn't see charlie... but he had to be close by. She looked around to see if anyone had noticed her.. maybe wanting to dance. But no one... and Chris, she didn't see anywhere... Well... isn't this buming?... she turned to walk and sit at a small table by the entrance hoping to see someone...
Amy smiled when Blaise introduced himself to her. He was quite captivating... his eyes drew her in, and she wanted to drink in the green of his iris. Amy was even more swept away when he had asked her to dance. Falling for it, she took his hand,"Of course. Shall we?"

As the tall blond boy wandered, weaving his way through different groups of people but not feeling brave enough to talk to anybody, his eye suddenly fell on the beautiful blonde who had just sat down at a table by herself. This was his chance; he could go and talk to her, and his likely failure would be witnessed only by one other person.
Screwing up all his nerve, Cary made his way over to Madaline, a friendly smile curling his lips upward. "Hi," he said, drawing closer with his hand outstretched. "My name is Cary. Would you like to dance?"

Mr... uh..." she appealed to his hand with hers and walked to the dance floor with him... a light rosey blush upon her cheeks... Names?? I am no good with them.... she struggled on her thoughts.

"Please, let's," Blaise murmured in a voice like cold steel, willing himself not to get caught up in lust - at least, not until after he had dealt with his old business. That was made far more difficult by the fact that Amy was one of a rare type of woman, a mortal woman whose looks were absolutely fitting for those of a Vampire. Blaise couldn't help but fantasize about keeping her as one of his own, to be sired at the most convenient time and remain his forever.
But he was quick to remind himself that those rare mortal women whose timeless faces were so Vampiric as to be nearly painful to him were never of the stupid, giggling girl type. He knew that he would certainly be a fool to assume that this enchantress Amy could be taken like a schoolgirl. There was great depth behind her eyes, wells of wisdom and experience and mystery.
When the two stepped onto the dance floor, Blaise pulled Amy toward him with his left hand and gracefully settled his right on her hip, sliding it around ever so slightly to her back so that he could pull her in close for the dance. "I apologize if my skin chills you," he offered with the smallest of smirks. "I am sure that you have realized by now the nature of my particular existence?" There was his cocky grin again, the points of his fangs peeking out of his mouth to press against the soft flesh of his lower lip.
He considered offering to put on his gloves, but decided against it. That would lead her to believe that he was a gentleman, that he cared about the comfort of others more than his own. But those things were simply not true, and the woman who allowed herself to believe such things of Blaise usually wound up dead.
"So, Amy," Blaise began as he led her in a graceful waltz, "you are a Professor here?"
Amy's heart went wild as Blaise gave her a peek of his fangs. She had always wondered of the beauty and romantic world of vampires. She wanted to be one, to escape her mortality, and she believed nothing could hurt her if she were to be one. "I don't mind. I am usually feeling chilly myself," she said. Blaise's pale skin was handsome. Amy loved the mystery inside the man holding her in dance. "A vampire," she whispered into his ear. "I have always wondered how it is like to be one," she said. "I'm the Arithmancy Professor," she said as Blaise's own cold breath gave Amy chills, but she enjoyed them. "So if you're not a teacher, or a student, then how come your presence is here?" she asked, her pale green eyes meeting Blaise's.
His eyes were the most captivating part of him, and everything else just enchanted her to move fluently in dance with him. Her jet black hair matched Blaise's. Though Amy had gone through quite a deal turmoil in the past, Blaise seemed to be... different. She was abused physically and emotionally by her old boyfriend in her past relationship. The two of them had been engaged, until she could take no more. She let him go before he could hurt her again. It's been a while before she let anyone in, or rather accepted a dance invitation. Blaise was different. She was determined to find out the twist in him. She was falling for him-- all of him and his handsomeness. His very presence seemed to give her a sense of belonging.

Cary smiled as the girl, seeming quite surprised by his asking her to dance, stammered charmingly and placed her warm, soft hand in his. He was delighted at the feel of it, having fully prepared himself for a rejection from the girl who was clearly out of his league.
"Hughes," he responded to her prompting as he led her onto the dance floor. "But you can call me Cary," he added with a grin that was meant to be charming, although he was not quite sure that he had pulled it off at all smoothly. His free hand found its way to her hip, and Cary began to lead her in a slow dance to the peaceful, beautiful song that was playing.
"You know," he said, leading her into a turn and marveling at the endearing pink spots on the girl's cheeks, "you look beautiful tonight. You would stand out in any crowd. What's your name?"

"Oh... Hughes..." She smiled... "Cary??" she couldn't help but laugh a bit... "It's cute." She smiled as he placed his hand to her hip... she reached for his and pulled it up about an inch and placed her hands to his shoulders... As she spun she smiled glamorously and returned her hands to his shoulders... "Oh... me?" She smirked.. "Madaline... Weasley.."

"A Vampire ... I have always wondered how it is like to be one ..."
When she whispered those words, her lips so close to Blaise's ear, the Vampire was hard put to control the bloodlust that bubbled forth. And she was telling him of her post, and then asking him a question, but he heard those words only dimly. The rush of blood in his ears was almost deafening.
He lowered his voice, paralleling Amy's statement by putting his lips just as close to her ear, maybe even a fraction closer, and murmured, "You would certainly make a beautiful Vampiress." He did not elaborate. She would assume that he meant she was beautiful for a mortal. What he really meant, of course, was that she overshadowed all mortals and would be a breathtaking Vampiress.
After he'd said his piece, he leaned back again so that the distance between them was not as small. It was simply far too tempting to be so close that his lips were warmed by her breath.
Being farther away from her ear, Blaise could now see the green of Amy's eyes, timeless, enchanting. "I've actually just stopped by for a chat with an old ... acquaintance of mine. Nina Roeswood, another Professor. We have some old business to settle."
And then the Vampire led his dance partner into a graceful dip.
Amy pulled away after a small moment of silence. "I believe you should go settle your business, but when you're done, I'll be in the woods, if you would like to talk more," she said. She looked straight into his eyes, with her own pale green ones. "I'll be waiting," she whispered. With that, she started walking towards the large wooden doors, her graceful walking barely making a sound on the hard floor. Her dress flowed with her as she went off into the night.
