Excellent, Phugsius would have his shot at an equal duel with this Lucius. He was sure with a professor around Lucius' demon would stay where it was putting them on an even playing field. The Slytherin boy grew a smug smile and couldn't wait to put this wanker down.
Phugsius' attention was brought back by the new subject the professor was teaching about. Werewolves and Lycans weren't as familiar to him as vampires.....
Phugsius hoped his outburst hadn't discouraged Chika from going to the dance with him.

Lucius started acting like an idiot again. Pretty could sum up the next minute as time passed. Ryo sarcastically thanked Felix, who promptly glared at the Slytherin with a grin. It was so true. Phugs apologized nicely, as cunning as a Slytherin could be. Sam seemed sort of bothered, yet he kept cool. It was scary. These students were the next generation of students to protect Firefox. They were… doomed.
After what seemed like an eternity, Forgoil continued the class, starting off with a threat of working with a nice way of saying ‘detention’ if they didn’t behave. Next, he actually arranged for Lucius and Phugs to have a duel. 6 o'clock sharp. One thing was for sure, Felix would so be there, not only to help Forgoil keep them from killing each other, but also to stand by with a bucket of water in case anything… interesting happened.
Moving on to more information about the monster at hand, Forgoil managed to answer all the questions well enough, gave some interesting thought provoking thoughts and moved on to the next monster on the agenda. Felix almost had to chuckle. The next statue that Forgoil had chosen happened to be what his best friend was. He even was holding Willow’s wand in his hand. The Lycan clan that lived in the woods was like his second family, one he actually liked spending with. All he could hope for is that someone didn’t claim to be a Lycan Hunter also.
“Lycan differ from werewolves because werewolves are forced to transform at every full moon and at no other time, while lycans can transfigure whenever they please from their human and lupine form. Lycanthropy is transmitted same as vampires, biting and transmitting the ‘virus’, I guess you’d call it, into the blood stream.”
Felix wanted to continue, yet he knew the other students were also eager, so he deferred. If no one else were aware of the school’s current stance towards their neighbors in the woods, ‘creatures’ as Forgoil called them, Felix would have been more then happy to oblige. He wasn’t aware if the Scotsman had any prior experience with the lycan, but knowing him, he probably did, especially considering Sylph’s past causes.

Ryo decided to chime in, "I should think that the school has a live and let live policy with the lycans. After all, it's not like you see the headmaster saying things like 'lycans are evil.' However, as a 'foresaken creature', I imagine it is understood that they are to keep off the grounds of the University."
Felix glared at him. It was not surprising, seeing as he chosen to give a sarcastic thanks. Ryo felt as if he couldn't help it. Gryffindors rubbed him the wrong way.
(Figures this all would happen while I'm away at work.)
The professor spoke, and the chamber's murmer vanished in virtual entirity. Even though his swarthy tone was level, there were was no doubt in the hearts of any of these students that this promise of Halifierien coming down on further unwelcome outbursts with a terrible wrath was very real. He would likely see that none could escape from for the remainder of the day, or perhaps even the week, depending on how expansive Professor Halifirien's little monster collection was. Sam smirked at the thought of it, as this was what he was waiting to hear. But his expression dropped to that of quiet surprise, though briefly, as the Professor scheduled a private audience with Sam after the class was concluded. He wondered if his interjection constituted an unwelcome outburst. All he could do was hope that was not the case.
The professor proceeded with the lecture, next showcasing a terrible and ferocious werewolf that looked ready to pounce the closest person to him. Namely Sam. The thief was starting to wonder if sitting so close to the front was always going to be such a hot idea. He gulped.
This was very educational.
The handsome grey-haired youth went on to ask questions about these ferocious night stalkers, and several of the same individuals went on to answer in turn. The one in particular whom seemed to know what he was talking about (and Sam dared to venture he was even holding back for the sakes of new students such as himself), seemed to be the Head Boy from House Gryffindor, Genero. Perhaps it'd be good to talk to him and see if the guy would crack some of his notes to share with Sam, sometime. And just as before, the Head Boy graciously left some room for other students to speak. Sam was a bit surprised a bright girl like Morgan was staying so quiet next to him, though. Shrugging, Sam decided to try his hand again at answering, though admittedly he didn't have as much to share as he did the previous subject. He rose from his seat and raised his hand before answering.
"I don't know of any spells that work on either of these types, but I do know that unlike vampires, they aren't easy victims of solar radiation. In fact, in their human forms, they can blend in with a crowd of witches and wizards, in our halls or in Drakborough. Furthermore, in their wolf forms, the use of fire spells has little effect. Their reflexes and stamina are on par to the bat-like nosferatu, but because their fur is so dense, the heat of a flame that would otherwise toast a vampire, would barely even singe them. In short, any use of fire magic against these things would be a waste of energy."
"The only thing I know of that they're weak to, is silver. It has a much greater effect on them than it does our previous topics. They don't even need to be punctured with it, touching it with their bodies would burn that spot like acid. Of course, if one could plug a few silver rounds in a werewolf or lycan, they wouldn't even need to hit the vitals to watch them die of silver poisoning."
Sam sat back down, hoping that his show of knowledge might lighten whatever punishment Professor Halifirien had in mind for him, if it was punishment that was waiting for the blonde after class.

The metallic sound of the classroom's guards parting their weapons signaled the entrance of someone else. This time around, though, it wasn't a student. The Headmaster Talon Windwaltz poked his head in and looked to the Scotsman and whispered loudly, "That is such a cool idea. 10 points to the staff." He added the last part jokingly, and then stepped in for everyone to see, wearing red robes instead of his usual purple ones.
"I'm sorry for interrupting what is no doubt an excellent lesson on-" he looked to the scary wolven version of Warren Zevon "-'70s horror movie themed rock songs, but I was just upstairs and I heard somebody down here shout that they'd killed a vampire before like their life depended on it and my instinct to save the day was set off...in reverse, I suppose." Talon jovially mocked himself and looked obviously in the best mood he'd been in...for as long as anyone in that room had ever known him.
"Mind if I sit in on the class?" The Headmaster said, motioning to an empty seat in the back. "I promise I won't grade you on your performance or anything," Talon smiled to his friend.

"Understood proffesor..."
Lucius nodded politely, mostly because he now had a legitimate reason to go for Phugsius while not killing him... Or burning half the school down in a rage... It was part of the reason he liked Forgoil, the teacher hadn't been tremendously upset when Lucius had practically punched out that Boggart during the class demonstartion the previous year... But that was a different story all together...
The class moved on to lycans and lycanthropy, which made Lucius immediately think of Willow...
Willow... Just what are you now? Stay safe and away from all of those idiots in that Black Forest Church my friend...
Then, his thoughts turned to Fenrir... The chief lycan had nearly turned Morgan into one of his kind on that one occasion, which hadn't impressed Lucius... Putting those thoughts out of his head, he focused on the questions Forgoil asked... Right when the headmaster, Talon Windwaltz had turned up... Keeping his voice level and ignoring his nerves, Lucius added his piece to the answers.
"Just like with Vampires and their ilk, Siver, as it has already been stated, is like poison to a lycan... Their cyanide or arsenic if you will... However, it doesn't have to be pure silver like some theorists believe. Any silver-based compound, like silver nitrate would be acceptable and is relatively readily availible. However, in terms of mass, something as small as a ring..."
At this point, he placed one of his two silver rings on the desk in front of him, the dragon carved into it when it was crafted visible to any looking...
"... Would be too small to cause significant, lasting and deliberating injury. Mass-wise, it would take something of at least the weight of a bullet, knife, or indeed, a dagger..."
At that point, he pulled his own dagger from the back of his belt and placed it on the table... It was part of his way for casting spells and it was the current container for Samael of Abaddon, so it was in his best interests to keep it close to him...
"... To be the minimum for the task. Those in religion would also argue a silver cross would be sufficient, but I disagree. While the theory is sound, the cross itself tends to lack more than blunt forces to injure rather than a bullet or a bladed weapon's sharp forces."
At that, he returned his dagger to the back of his belt and put the ring back on his left hand. He had been talking at a bit of a length for him, something he wasn't want to do... But he had the knowledge gleamed from books and a theory of his own that he had wanted to state.

Felix continued to listen to the answers, surprised at how much the everyday student knew. Why even bother go to class? If these students ever actually got out and got their feet wet in the ocean of trouble that lay outside their door, there was a high chance that no one would ever dare attack Firefox again.
Ryo answered with a pretty good interpretation of what the Universities policy was with the lycans, and then the Nanten boy, obviously worried about Forgoil’s request of audience with him later. Felix guessed that Forgoil was going to extol the student for how he managed to calm everyone, but Nanten seemed to be under the impression that Forgoil was going to give him punishment. Typically Ravenclaw. Conforming to the stereotype even more, he proceeded to give a good analysis about what spells worked on lycans and which didn’t, making Felix wonder if lycan fur was flammable or not. He would make a point to ask Willow, yet anyway he put it, it would sound weird. The pride radiated off of Nanten after he answered, not pride from accomplishment, but of knowledge. This guy was a Ravenclaw through and through.
At a sharp metallic clang, the red roped figure of Talon grinningly poked his head in and actually used the word ‘cool’ to describe the figurines, and gave 10 points to the staff. At this Felix had to smile, not only at the presence of the headmaster, but because of the sad fact that Slytherin only had 6 points. Giving a warm nod to Talon, the Headmaster made a remark about how the class looked like a lesson in 1970 muggle horror films. This, of course, made Felix laugh out loud, hopefully in tune with the rest of the class, because in truth, he was right. He was always right. Felix’s own father had an obsession with the genre, and the Gryffindor couldn’t believe he hadn’t realized it before. The headmaster, comedy sketch not over yet, proceeded to excuse his presence by having over hear Phugs ‘IMA VAMPIRE HUNTER N00BS!!!!’ proclamation and his ‘instinct to save the day’ apparently was triggered. Talon’s second nature we was saving the day.
Lucius, oblivious of the Headmasters presence, decided to show off with a chemistry lesson about silver which was total bogas, as well as made sure everyone in the room knew that he always carried at least two ways to kill a lycan on his person. Planning an trip to the forest anytime soon Lucius? Felix only had to roll his eyes, Nanten had already answered that question.
“Actually, anything that could kill a human would work on a lycan, they just have the advantage of rapid regeneration, healing and endurance. For example, if stabbed a lycan, with a regular metal, in enough places and organs they would die just as a human would. Lycans can drown, and can even die from impact of thrown off a high enough tower. I’m not sure how fast their blood regenerates, but I think a lycan can even die from blood loss if you cut off an appendage or any other large area--” Of course the class wanted to know all the gruesome ways that you could kill a lycan... idiot. It was all true though. Finishing up with a less violent fact, “…but all regular charms and jinxes work just as if cast on a human, unless the lycan is happens to be over nine feet tall. Giant creatures have been known to be immune to stun spells.”

Ryo shifted uncomfortably. His transformation magic was taxing and it was beginning to take its toll. The boy was glad he was near the back. The fact that he now sported a tail and his ears were fox ears on top of his head would probably go unnoticed, especially with the arrival of the headmaster. The headmaster seemed to be i good spirits as he laughed and jokingly gave points to the staff. Ryo was glad he didn't care for points as it suddenly dawned on him how dismal Slytherin's points were. No, he was here to learn.
His thoughts focused back on himself. He decided that after class he might not use his disguise anymore. Ryo knew a few spells that would make the new students hope they didn't pick on him and most of the older students seemed to have lycan friends. He doubted that ass from Gryffindor did, but he was an asshole anyway, let Phugs deal with him.
With Felix's last statement Ryo found his chance to contribute, "So basically normal spells and attacks work if you don't let them heal but if your fighting Fenrir, you're kinda screwed." He added the last bit for humoring the class. In truth, he had no idea how big Fenrir was and didn't want to find out.
Post by Morgan Pendragon on Jul 18, 2009 12:57:29 GMT -5
"There is another difference between Werewolves and Lycanthropes," Morgan piped up. "Not only do Lycans change form at will, while Werewolves possess no such control, but Lycans retain their intellect and personality in either form. When Werewolves transform, their minds are not their own. They are capable of things they would not normally do." She thought briefly of Seth killing Asher, but then brushed the thought aside. "There have even been documented cases where a werewolf did not know of their condition for several months, and assumed they only suffered from nightmares and sleepwalking."
"In addition, both werewolves and lycans spread their condition by contact of infected bodily fluid, usually saliva, with normal human fluids, usually directly into the bloodstream through a bite. So, theoretically, lycans and werewolves could be cured if there was a way to drain them of their blood, while simultaneously replacing it with clean blood. Of course, if they were cured, as it were, they would lose the ability to shapeshift, their heightened senses, and their above-average speed, strength, and ability to heal. Some lycans would hardly consider that a 'cure'."
She had been uncharacteristically quiet this class. She didn't even mind Felix being a show-off the way she usually did. Although, part of it was wanting to stay out of the dispute between Phugsius and Lucius. She sides with Lucius, naturally, but it was unseemly for a prefect to row in class. Instead, she discreetly held Lucius's hand under their desks.
"As for the school's stance on lycans, well, we let them have the woods. Or, they let us have the castle, whichever point of view you want to take. Basically, as long as they don't harm the students and staff, we don't have a problem with them." She was friends with some of the lycans, a werewolf and even a nosferatu. Even if she hadn't seen Willow, Seth, or Elle in a while. Well, Seth was probably still confined to the forest by Fenrir. And she couldn't even send Dora or Mondleid to him anymore, since Fenrir said he'd kill any familiar of hers he found in the woods.

Phugsius mentally invisioned himself slapping his head once the headmaster entered the room. He had been drawn to the class by the boys shouting. He must look so unprofessional right now, and in front of the headmaster! Ughh...... He found all the information about werewolves interesting but he couldn't imagine anyone wanting that fire lycan running around. Mostly everyone in the class piped up to answer the professors questions except himself.
He did know some things on this topic, like silver hurt werewolves for instance; However: his expertise was in vampires and fire spells.
Which reminded him that this duel that was going on would be a fire fight. He suddenly went deep in thought. Phugsius realized he would need to learn fire protection spells by 6 o clock. To do that though he had to unlock his memories again. Away with his memories were spells that had to go with them and he knew that if he even had a chance it was in his past.
Post by Forgoil Halifirien on Jul 20, 2009 10:17:12 GMT -5
"Yes to the answers of Mr. Genero, Mr. Kanagawa, and Mr. Nanten," replied Forgoil as the first of the answers were fielded back to him. His voice was steady and his eyes hardened a little bit as he continued on his subject. "Lycans have the ability to change at whatever point in the lunar cycle, but there is also speculation that in stages that are closer to the full moon lycans become more attuned to their animalistic side and therefore more dangerous and powerful." As was about to go on answering the rest of the questions that either didn't describe themselves in such an excellent manner or that sought a specific answer, but Talon Windwaltz popped his head around the corner of his door...in red robes.
For as long as Halifirien had known Talon he had never seen him wear anything else than his robes of Tyrian purple, so seeing him in a warobe change was a small shocker to the Scotsman. Even more so was the Headmaster's little joke about the staff and his general mood as he asked to sit in on the class. He didn't know what had made this change, but he had a few guesses that he would look into after class. "By all means Headmaster," said Forgoil with a small grin as he gestured to the desks, "Ya're more than welcome but ya might have ta participate so tread at yer own risk."
"As for Mr. Woodwrth's question, it isn't all to heard to impair a lycan's hearing. This can be done by either a spell or physically attackin' the ears themselves, but with so many heightened senses the loss of hearing might not be enough ta help ya if yer up against one. And as for the numerous references ta silver, it is very deadly ta these beings but pure silver will do the most damage. It's simple really: if ya dilute a solution it will lose some of its potency, so if ya have a metal that has 30% silver in it then ya'll see 30% of the actual allergic reaction ta the silver. The higher the concentration the better, and it's even more effective once it gets in their system. Contact with it, depending on how much there is, can leave minute burns or cause serious ones..."
There was suddenly a pair of bushy ears poking up from the student body. Now Forgoil didn't know much about what people wore today, but perhaps it was a headband with look-like ears on it. Then again, they weren't there before so he tried spoting the person sporting these ears and he made a mental note to bring that up to one of the school nurses: probably a rouge spell gone wrong.
"...And yes Ms. Pendragon, ya bring up a very interesting aspect about how the infection spreads. It is carried in their saliva, not all that different from a komodo dragon, and any bite will infect ya: they have no control over who they turn like nosferatu or vampires can. Also the process of exsanguination is a little ta dangerous, but in theory it would seem possible ta reverse the condition unless the body had grown used ta the state and adapted ta reproduce it. So again, this would have ta happen immediately after a transformation. There is also a rumor that one witch once recreated an elixir ta the condition, but regretfully the secret has been lost with her."
"So unless there are any more questions about lycans, are ya ready at move on?"
Post by Ryoko Kanagawa on Jul 21, 2009 0:05:21 GMT -5
Hearing Halifirian going over the specifics of lycan infection reminded Ryo of something.
"I heard that muggles have machines for filtering out the blood in humans. Maybe that could work?"
He almost kicked himself for mentioning anything more, however, as he was quite looking forward to what the Professor had in mind. Something in the back of his mind worried though. Would they have to face dark arts? No, it was unlikely but it would be a good test of their DADA abilities.
Chika was fast asleep. she had a snot bubble blowing from her nose. It poped, and chika lifted her head slightly in hopes that the profesorr had not seen her fall asleep or wake up just now. She moved to sitting straigt up to see the Head Master was there. Shika had only met him one when she recived her prefect bage, once.
Chika Slightly giggled at Ryo-kun those filtering things couldn't filter that much blood. If she was think right. Chika puled out a Pixie Stix, opened it and popped it into her mouth in hopes that sugar would keep her awake .
Post by Forgoil Halifirien on Jul 22, 2009 15:14:09 GMT -5
"Yes Mister Kanagawa, muggles do have machines that are capable o' doin' that but I again stress the importance that such a method could only work on a recently turned victim. If the disease has been given a chance ta grow, then the body might reject the human blood or infect it all over again," explained Forgoil as he tried to clearly illustrate how crucial it was that once this change had occurred and that if nothing was done to immediately stop it then there was no cure.
Flourishing his wand at the figurine, the snarling lycanthrope shrank and the Scotsman summoned it into his hand once more. Placing it back on the desk, Forgoil pulled out the third figurine and cast the same spell once again. And raising up from the floor wasn't one, but three different figures. All of them were clearly wizards and each of them wore similar robes. One of them seemed intelligent and calculating, the second wild and powerful, and the last one had an air of nobility about him that was tarnished. "Allow me ta introduce the three leaders o' the Society o' Shadows: Syrus Korodin, the one with no name, and Robinson Antares Scorpius. These men are not the focus of this lesson, but they are perfect examples o' dark wizards. And as we are runnin' out o' time, this will be the last segment before my little quiz."
"Who can tell me what characterizes such a wizard, what spells can he and can't he use, what would be the best way to defeat such a foe, and how exactly can the dark arts turn a person into a wizard such as these before ya?"
