Talon was speaking again, and his booming voice was getting harder to ignore. Turning, a slow and lazy motion, the Hufflepuff was once again looking at the Headmaster, and the five people assembled before him. As the Head boy and girl were 'knighted' with their badges, the blond clapped along with the others but couldn't help but stifle a feeling of worthlessness.
There were people that were devoted to the school and the students. How could she ever have wanted such a position, even that of a prefect. For the thought of being one had crossed her mind once in a while, but not enough to wish it away from her friends. Roan and Forgoil deserved the positions as Prefects so much more then she ever did.
Sensing movement on her left, Rezna turned her head to look at who it was that moved so daringly to sit next to her, considering her less then friendly features. However, that expression lost most of it's severity when the blond's green eyes fell on Claude, a girl she had only recently met. One who was brave enough to speak her mind and quite rarely held anything back. Something that Rezna would have disproved of, had Claude not proved her wrong, in the most positive ways.
"I don't know them personally," Rezna responded in a soft voice, a grin of greeting flashing on her face momentarily to soften her features. "I saw the Slytherin girl, Marina around school here and maybe somewhere before. The others were in my classes. I've never seen the Head Boy before, not that I've met any Ravenclaws or Gryffindors since arriving here."
Rezna was surprised at her willingness to talk among all the yelling and cheering coming from the other three houses. It didn't even surprise her that Hufflepuff had no representatives sent up to receive awards from Windwaltz. They had all the Prefects they needed, and above all else, the prefects they had could not have been better chosen. And talking to Claude was a welcome distraction from her brooding thoughts.
"The Prof- I mean, the Headmaster is sometimes superfluous in his words and, as of now, quite extravagant in his appearance. Time changes both people and personality it seems," Rezna whispered again to Claude, now voluntarily reaching up for her water goblet. "And as far as responsibility is concerned," the blond girl told her fast becoming friend in a voice slightly softer then before, "it will be not as much of a factor as their more commanding characteristics. The Prefects, Head Boy, and Girl will have a lot to handle in the future, I fear."
As she looked up at Claude, Rezna's eyes no longer swam around in a lazy and bored way. Her piercing gaze was direct and steady, the words only showing slightly the thoughts that had began to bother of of late, on top of all the other things she had refused to deal with. Ever since Rezna had come upon Roan and a certain girl at the Great Gate, thoughts of what that could be a beginning of did not leave her mind. Still, determined not to ruin the other girl's evening, Rezna pushed those thoughts away as well, and took a long drink from her goblet, looking up to see the now more self-assured Prefects and Head students returning to their seats.
"Do you think those were all of his announcements?" Rezna asked, hoping more then ever that Claude's answer was a yes.
