So far things had been going rather well. Malachy an albino 6th year. Strolled down the hall under feasting hall to the kitchens as he thought. His finals where over, and he was free. His last final had lasted passed lunch and he was starving so he headed toward the kitchen to nick something for the house elves to sate his appetite.
As he walked down the hall he thought about things that had happened lately. About The Ministries complete revamp. and about Bismark vanishing. The BFC seemed crippled which was great. Malachy only wished he could have been there to see it. He kind of like Azrael's style. if he got the chance he would have to talk to the wizard personally, and learn what he's all about.
As he walked he heard some one coming down a side hall he turned to see who it was...
Keeping to herself as she entered the Feasting Hall, Selene became rather skiddish whenever she was alone. She knew she screwed up with ratting to Shadow, but it was either that or keep it hidden and have them find out later. Come to think of it, either way she looked at it, she was on the loosing end of the stick.
Tucking an almost white strand behind her ear, the sixteen year old hoped that Malachy didn't see her for the rest of the year. If he did, she would have to put everything her sister taught her through their private lessons to use. But, perhaps there was a way they can talk it out. Maybe, she could take a leaf from the White side of the family and talk her way out of it. Lie saying that Shadow used the Imperius Curse on her. Yeah that might work.
And let's hope Fortuna is on my side today she prayed to herself.
"Selene!?" He said, not in a raised tone but a grumpy one. His face was a scowl. She had just ruined his good mood. Selene was a traitor in his eyes. Ratting him out. Though it hadn't costhim much he knew she had been the source of Shadow's intel. His hand was already in his pocket, grasping the smooth black handle of his ebony wand.
"Soming to get some food as well, Cousin? Or here to stab more people in the back?" He asked in the same heated tomn he and used her name.
And it seems not she thought to herself as she stopped dead in her tracks as Malachy's voice rang in her ears. This was not good, not good at all. And from the tone that was being used, he wasn't really pleased with her. The lioness reached for her wand gripping the rosewood in a gentle, yet firm grip. The next series of words stung at her heart as if my hundreds of bees. None the less, she tried to keep herself calm.
"Neither dear cousin," She replied in a void, yet heated tone. "Are you here to make false accusations?" she asked cheekily. "Or perhaps, there is something else?" she asked as she looked over her shoulder at the albino. And to think if they weren't related or on such bad terms, she would attempt to flirt with the serpent.
Everything from here was do or die. Lie and redeem herself, or be honest and possibly be on the receiving end of a curse of five.
Mal's serpentine glare didn't waver. "No, I was hungry but the smell of lion dung has spoiled my appetite." He said without really thinking. "To think that an item as powerful as a sorting hat could be so wrong about some one. Did you pay the hat or did you steal some of Gryffindors robes?"n He asked. again with out thinking. He would have expected a Gryffindor to be more trustworthy.
Laughing coldly at his words, Selene smirked gently. "Rich coming from a blood traitor," she snarled not really putting much thought into her own words. Call the heat of the battle that drove her to say the words that used to be directed toward her by her sister, but she was going to worry about the regret later. Rolling her eyes at his statement, she calmed down almost instantly. "Look Malachy, I'm sorry for betraying your trust and for my previous words. But believe me when I say that I ratted against my will," she whispered hoping he would go for it. Well he hopefully would if he knew Gwen's track record.
"Look I know you know that Gwen often uses me to practice unforgivables on. And when that whole mess happened, it was one of those times. I tried to throw it off, I really did. But I couldn't," she said looking up at the older teen with a sincere and honest look about her.
Malachy knew lies he was an expert at doing it. And as close as Selene got to being worthy of her house's rival, she wasn't as good as one when it came to a blatant lie. Selene made the mistake of placing the blame on someone he shared a common room with. He knew Swen was more than capable of using the curses. Gwen wasn't the one that was aware of the plans and if she had been she would have went to Shadow, her boyfriend, herself.
"You couldn't lie to save your life, I guess the hat wasn't completely wrong. You should talk about going against blood. You went against family. After I defended you in front of that scum bag cousin of yours." He said his voice becoming mor heated as his hand constricted his wand even more.
"I could too," she defended in a rather childish manner. "But naturally I cannot get past the snake in the garden," she muttered rolling her eyes as she gripped her wand, ready for what was to come. "But I am loyal to who I choose to be. I didn't go against family, not in the least. Only one member to another," she explained smirking. Cocking an eyebrow at his statement of defending her, the teen laughed shortly. Bull. Shit. she thought to herself but dared not speak the words.
"God I can't believe that we're fighting like this. It's rather pointless really. What's done is done. Can't change the past," she shrugged as she glanced around to make sure there wasn't a professor in sight. "But I was loyal to my sister before I even met you. And to be honest, Shadow was just a pawn. None the less he knew I was an ally to him from the beginning."
Selene had no idea what kind of a person Shadow was. He grinned. "Yes, praise the back stabbing half-blood, who's being hunted by his own good-for-nothing muggle of a father. I tried being loyal to family, look what it got me. Two back stabbing cousins and zero gratitude." He said his tone angery.
Then his lips curled wickedly. "If your tired of fight with simple words, how about words with a little more power. Flipendo!" He was tired of talk and as he talked he draw his wand and cast the first spell.
"Ah Gwen is dating a half blood, I never thought I would see the day,' she laughed. But none the less she did have pity on the poor thing. Being hunted down my his own father, no wonder he was desperate enough to lean on her sister. Opening her mouth to speak again, she rose an eyebrow at his words. "Okay, I know I'm on the list, but whose the other back stabbing cousin?"
Flipendo
"Protego," she called drawing her own wand, to cancel out the charm. Well sister, let's hope I do you proud today she thought to herself as she took aim once more. "Obscuro, Sectumsempra," she muttered hoping one of them worked. well if he was to stoop low, she would pull a White and stoop lower.
Malachy dived to the side and rolled. to dodge the onslaught. 'Is dark magic really necessary? "Shadow, free him from magical enslavement and he sees it fit to give me a boggart in return!" He said answering her question before flicked his wand out at her. "Stupify!"He shouted more in anger. She was trying to rip him in half when he had attempted to merely knock her down. Why the factors where weighed even for a split second as he, watch the red bolt of magic shoot from his wand.
Shit she thought to herself as she moved to avoid the stunning charm. Nice moves, but let's see how long this dance will last she mused as she looked at her cousin calmly. "There's no need to shout," she teased gently. "Well I can somewhat understand where he is coming from. Slavery just ain't cool Mal," she shrugged keeping her cool unlike the family before her.
"Don't let emotions cloud your judgment," she whispered before aiming again. "Impedimenta," she spoke in a light, almost joyful tone. And just for same measures "Obliviate," she smiled as she watched the two rays of light go for the albino.
Malchy was standing up and when he herd the attack he had to think fast. He spotted a coat of arms kite shield handing on the stone wall not far above him. "Leviosa." He said with a quick flick towards the shield. The shield was heavy Iron and he wouldn't have been able to wield it with anything other than magic. The Shield turned and moved in front of him only inches away from himself as the spells made contact with the physical barrier.
He jabbed his wand and the shield turned on it side, he intended it to fling at Selene like a muggle plane and maybe have the same effect as the sectumsempra spell. However the shield was now moving too slowly. Her impeding charm did its job just not on the right target. Great now he needed to do something else. 'sning? He felt the coils of the emerald eyed, silver serpent ring, contract around his finger. And the he felt the tiny snake uncoil itself and drp to the floor almost unseen.
Selene had seen Sning in action before. But he wasn't growing stealth would be the key here. He lower his wand, silently casting a disillusionment charm on the golem to keep it as unnoticed as possible. it only need to bite her and this duel was over he just had to hope she didn't find out what he had done too soon Now to stall. Without braking the motion of his wand hand he Brought iyt back around "Flipendo, Expeliarmus." He said flicking is wand at her. Sending his spells over the still moving/hovering shield.
"Maybe my emotions do get the better of me at times, but emotion does have its uses." He said continuing the banter. to distract her.
"Good job," she commented as she watched the whole shield show. And what a show it was, until she watched sning slither off. "The fuck," she asked herself as she watched it disappear. Panic soon began to wash through her small frame, though she appeared calm. Just need to point it out, she told herself as she continued to keep one eye on her opponent. Not only did she have to worry about being bitten, she would have to worry about dropping her guard.
Two more spells were shot from her peer, but lucky for her she only managed to let one hit her before casting a shield charm to prevent being disarmed. She rose to her feet shaking her head and laughed happily. "Well this is fun," she cheered before muttering Finite with her wand pointed at the floor. She was certain that something was near, but not how far.
"Alright games are over she thought to herself as she narrowed her eyes at the white haired boy. "Well this was fun while it lasted," she shrugged. To her, she only had one option left. Well at least according to her family. Surrender, or delve into even darker arts. Sadly, she went for that latter. "Imperio," she whispered hoping the spell would take it's effect on hr once cherished cousin.
Malachy was to astonished by the words she spoke to react at first but did you only option left to him after not reacting and braced himself just in time for him to fell his mind go completely blank.
He suddenly wanted to just stop fighting, to give up, call back Sning and let her win. Something about it seemed od Part of him thought he should be angry for some reason. What an odd notion...
Sning was really close to Selene's foot. And had easily dodged the blindly shot spell. Suddenly it heard the spell. And wasn't surprised to hear the suddenly odd request. Sning wasn't stupid. and he knew the spell that was just used. a variant was used to control the undead.something previous masters had done. Sning already knew what his master really wanted and wasn't going to follow any orders given by the female before him. Even if they where through his master. He coiled himself and felt the disillusionment charm vanish as Malachy canceled. He sprang forward mouth open and fangs loaded with venom.
Malachy was suddenly confused as to why sning wasn't listening to him and he felt anger. And in that spit second that anger invaded the calm the anger that was else where incinerated the trance like dried leaves. But he was disorientated and couldn't focus. He still didn't know why he was anger. then he remembered what she said just before the trance. His wand shot forward. "EXPEIARLMUS!" He shouted in a rage.
