Summer term should have helped you review some material. For the first lesson, students shall do book work. The next lesson will be much more practical. Be careful and perform any transfiguration with great care and concentration.
First- and second-years: Summarize the definition of transfiguration and describe the types of transfiguration. Furthermore, list at least five examples of transfiguration.
Third- and fourth-years: Describe and explain what kind of transfigurations are easiest. Focus on simplicity versus complexity. Compare objects-to-animals, animals-to-objects, vanishment, conjuration, untransfiguration, and cross-species switches.
Fifth-years: Describe and explain what is expected of you during the OWLs. Describe your weak points and strengths in transfiguration. Further explain how you plan to improve those areas before the test.
Sixth- and seventh-years: Provide your OWL score for transfiguration. Transfiguration is most commonly done using a wand and incantation. What other ways are there to change one object into another? Both alternative magical and non-magical solutions are available.
Points will be rewarded based on accuracy--the HP Wikia is a good source. For any debatable details, points will be given for reasoning. Bonus points will be given for transfiguring objects. They will also be given for reading (OOC: writing) historic accounts that use transfiguration in some way (points for style, effort, and creativity); three of these are equivalent to one assignment. Additional points may also be given to detail and depth in answers as well as providing more examples than required.
Note: Do not transfigure other people or sentient beings without permission. Do attempt transfiguration on other people, beings of intelligence, or the belongings or attire of other people or beings of intelligence.
For those interested in becoming animagi, extracurricular lessons will be offered starting January 1st. Points will be awarded for attendance. It is not mandatory.
---------------------------------------
OOC: Post links to the threads here. Assignments are due by January 1st at 00:00, US Central Time. Anything linked after that will receive half credit. Threads not linked will receive no points.
Also, I was gonna wait until Morgan technically started the new term, but as Morgan has gone on hiatus and people are slightly active, I decided to go ahead and post this.... You have homework. Get to it!
