Obviously, the traditional set-up for school terms, as used by Hogwarts in the Potterverse, is not a good fit for FFU, which operates year-round. This is especially true since many of our members attend school themselves, and find themselves with the most free time in the summer.
So, I am proposing the following changes:
--A three-term school year.
--Two House Cups per calendar year. (one for summer term, one for regular school-year terms)
How would three school terms work?
We would divide up the school year into thee separate four-month chunks. Fall term would run September-December, much like a regular school term. Spring term would be January-April. At the end of April, we would award the House Cup to the house with the most points. From May-August, it would be summer term. In September, we have the fall term begin again, and your character would advance a year in school.
What would happen during summer term?
During summer term, lessons would continue, but they should be somewhat relaxed as far as time limits and things went. Professors could have an assignment up for two or three months, or keep one assignment for the entire summer term. At the end of summer term, the Summer Cup would be awarded to the house with the most points.
Don't professors have to post a lesson every month?
No. Right now the rule is that a professor must post one lesson per every three months to keep their position. During summer term, however, they would be allowed to post only one assignment for the entire term, providing that they keep their character current in other threads over the term. Also, During summer term, staff that choose to post only one assignment must state this clearly at the time they post the assignment or lesson. Additionally, participation in IC staff meetings and other professorial duties will be a little less lenient for these staff.
