This is largely a review assignment, although new material will be covered for younger students for the assignment groups, such as third- and sixth-year students. Be careful of wand movements, incantation, and concentration.
Third year and up: In the same post as the link to your thread, state whether you are interested in studying to become animagi or, in the rare case, if you already are one.
First years: Read three historic accounts that use transfiguration in some way. (OOC: Write the accounts yourself. Points for style, effort, and creativity.)
Second years: Turn three mice into snuffboxes. Points for success, creativity, and detail. This is still review. Mice are provided.
Third, fourth, and fifth years: Transfigure three objects into animals, such as a teapot into a tortoise. Be responsible. Students in higher years will be scored more strictly.
Sixth and seventh years: Perform human transfiguration by turning a human into an animal. Work with at least one partner and be careful. Be sure to transform your partner back to normal after performing the transfiguration. This should be review for seventh-year students. Do this in an enclosed area near with a responsible adult witch or wizard nearby. Recall that people transfigured into animals will have the brain of such animal, although magical people (such as witches and wizards) may possibly resist enough to retain a certain degree of self. Points for successful attempts, accuracy, and completeness. Seventh-year students will be scored more strictly.
Points will be rewarded based on accuracy, the number of objects transfigured, and the difficulty of the transfiguration. Bonus points will be given for transfiguring more objects than stated by the requirement or for reading more stories/accounts than required. All years may read (OOC: write) the accounts for bonus.
Note: Do not transfigure other people or sentient beings without permission. Do attempt transfiguration on other people or beings of intelligence.

OOC: Post links to the threads here. Assignments are due by August 28th at 00:00, US Central Time. Anything linked after that will receive half credit. Threads not linked will receive no points.
