Amira stared down at the dinner consisting of salad sitting in front of her. As good and healthy as it was, it looked nasty. Like something a dog would eat. Some of these foods should just go away.
She thought about the transfiguration assignment, 7th years make things vanish. A sneaky smile latched its way on to her lips. People wouldn't freak out about their food disappearing, would they?
Oh well. It was for an assignment.
The blond hufflepuff turned her head to look at who her first target would be. The minimum was three things, so three different houses. She decided she would start at the slytherin table.
Eenie, meenie, miney, mo.
"Evanesco," she whispered, pointing at someone's plate. It vanished. She smiled and turned to the a ravenclaw student, and did the same.
Two down, one to go.
Her eyes darted to the closest table to her. She lifted her wand and pointed it at some random gryffindor's plate. Poof!
The puff pocketed her wand and looked down at the salad. She frowned in disgust and picked up her fork and began to munch slowly on the healthy, yet nasty food.

Fernando was about to take a bite of the salad when POOF! It vanished! Ever since missing lunch earlier, he had been looking forward for a chance to finally eat, even if it was a lousy salad.
He looked up and scanned the tables for his tormentor. There! Some hufflepuff girl was waving around her wand. After stealing his food, he caught her doing the same thing to a gryffindor! Geez this girl had issues! He couldn't just let her get away with that!
He quickly stood up and walked over to her, completely ready to cause a scene. Some people were so stupid! She had even started eating! As if to gloat that she had food and her unfortunate victims didn't.
"What's your problem?!?" he practically screamed at her as he grew close.

Just as Amira was about to put the salad in her mouth, a boy came up and yelled at her. She could tell by his robes he had that he was a slytherin. She looked back at his table, a little confused at what he meant. The empty place at the table had a missing salad.
Her mouth formed a perfect 'o'.
"I'm sorry. It was for my transfigurations assignment. I didn't think anyone would mind if the salads disappeared. But I'm sorry that you did care about it. Here," she lifted her salad bowl, fork and all, and handed it out to him, "You can have mine. It makes up for it, right?"
She stretched her lips into a smile, still holding the salad out for him. The puff really hoped he would calm down cause that was scary. He didn't look old enough to be the same grade as her. Would he have the same assignment? That was a possibility. What would go missing next?

"Dang it," Hakumi said. Well, rather, she would have said if she didn't have a piece of jellied toast in her mouth. As it was, it sounded more like 'Fang eeh'. She was getting frustrated. Her Transfigurations assignment had said to make something disappear, but she wasn't really sure how to do it. She'd started, at first, without the toast in her mouth, but she'd gotten hungry after several unsuccessful attempts and she'd made her way down to breakfast.
Swallowing a buttery, deliciously jammed piece of crisped toast, Hakumi decided she would try again. She closed her eyes tight, pointed her wand, and muttered the incantation.
"Evanesco." Wait! She remembered, to disappear something, she needed to be looking at something specific! What was she looking at before she said that? She couldn't remember.
Hakumi opened her eyes and saw that there was a boy and a girl near her, and what had obviously once been something in the blonde girl's hands was now... gone.

Fernando was surprised. She was offering him her salad? Maybe this girl wasn't that bad after all. Her explanation kind of made sense. He would still give her some harsh words for doing what she did, but maybe she really was sorry...
"Be more considerate next time." He snarled as he began to reach for the... wait where had the salad gone?
Fernando couldn't believe it. First she apologized and acted as if she was going to give away her food to make up for stealing, and then she vanished that too? He started to open his mouth to yell, but then it hit him. How did she even do that without a wand in hand and no incantation?
Logically there had to be another person. A partner of hers or something. Maybe she had a friend in on it just to make him look like an even bigger fool. If she had at least one other person helping her, he should back down. He didn't want to get himself into trouble.
Who was this girl anyway? She looked older than him, probably just some 7th years picking on younger students for fun.
He decided the only real option was to just back off. If she has friends in on this, there wasn't much he could do. Bullies suck, but what can you do?
He began to turn and walk away when he noticed another girl facing them, wand out. The partner must have been her, but she didn't look like she had mean intentions. She looked... surprised? "What is going on?"

Amira blinked not once, not twice, but three times at her empty hands.
What was going on indeed?
The boy looked like he would even forgive her if she gave him her salad and then it was gone. He turned to walk away and stopped. Another hufflepuff sat with her wand pointed directly at Amira's empty hands.
She held back a laugh, but allowed a kind smile to grow on her face.
"Transfigurations," she said. The blond could hardly care about the disappearance of her salad, but the boy was obviously confused.
"What's your name?" Amira asked, slightly curious. If anything aside from the salad, she could make it up to him somehow.

Fernando turned back around to face the speaking girl. "Fernando," he said, without a thought. He wasn't sure what to do at this point. He still wasn't feeling comfortable, but the girl still wasn't laughing. At what point during a prank do you just stop acting and laugh?
He let himself ease up a little bit, if she was pulling a prank she was very very dedicated to it. She had a warm smile on her face. He'd stay long enough to at least see what she wanted.
He decided to pull up a chair and he took a seat next to the girl. Standing there was awkward. "What's yours?" he returned the question.

To her surprise, the Slytherin boy sat next to her. His name was Fernando. That was such a long name. He should shorten it to something.
"I'm Amira," the puff said. She paused in thought at what could shorten that name. Nando? Nanny? Fern? Suddenly her eyes got really wide. "I should call you Ferny!" she was so excited, it was a brilliant idea.
Her smile never once left her face. New friend, no salads, and she gave him a nickname! Life was good.

"Ferny...?"
He could feel his eyebrows raise. Fernando. That was his name. Not ferny. Hhow did she even come up with that? And why was she was so happy about it?
He could give her a nickname back... but that would be pretty childish. And she'd probably like it. Why did he have to walk over here in the first place?
"Ferny..." it actually didn't sound that bad. "It's not tha--"
He was cut off by his stomach growling. It was loud very loud. He was still hungry. He didn't want to waste the entire hour chit chatting with some overly happy girl without eating. This was entirely her fault too. She still owed him for poofing his salad. He looked down at his stomach before giving the girl a glare.

To Amira, the boy seemed perfectly happy with the nickname. As he was about to say that it was perfect, his stomach began to growl like the loch ness monster from the depths of the lake or wherever it actually came from.
She stared at his stomach for a few seconds before laughing.
The blond reached over and grabbed a roll. Of course they had rolls because they had everything else. The puff stretched over toward him to give it to him. He probably could have gotten it at his own table, but he should think of it as an apology gift.
And hopefully, it wouldn't disappear this time.
"I'm sorry about the salad, Ferny," she said honestly, pushing the roll toward him more, so he would hurry up and grab it. She smiled once more.

Fernando followed her hand reaching into... a basket of rolls? When did that get there? Oh, right. There had been plenty of food there the whole time. He had been mad about losing his salad and blinded himself to it.
He felt a little stupid for making that big of a deal about the salad now. Oh well she did seem sincerely sorry about it. That was good, despite how overly cheerful she was being.
Anyway the girl appeared to really want him to take the roll. He was starving so he didn't object. He accepted the roll and took a bite. "Thanks Amira"
He looked up at her cheerful face. How could he stay mad at that? He really hoped she wasn't just a good and determined prankster.

Amira smiled (she smiles a lot) as he grabbed the roll, but was completely overjoyed when he started eating it. He accepted her friend request.
She made a friend over a missing salad. Talk about awesome.
The puff started to jump out of her chair and hug attack him, but she stopped herself. Her arms were pointed straight at him like a missile was to be launched. She froze.
Well, this was awkward.
She lifted her arms in the air, much like she was doing a cheer. "Whoo," she was quieter with that, before she quickly put her arms down in her lap, embarrassed. But she smiled anyway, cause a smile makes everything better.

Hakumi had almost forgot where she was as she slowly nibbled on a roll, wishing her friend from before would come by and gift her with Shining Porridge again. She didn't realize that the more she thought about it, the more porridge there seemed to be appearing around her on the table. She paid it no mind, though, choosing instead to focus on her piece of bread and wish.
She looked up, though, and saw Amira, her fellow Hufflepuff, standing up and saying 'Whoo', quite calm, but also mildly excited. Moved by this action, Hakumi slowly stood up too, extending her arms to the sky.
"Whoo." Hakumi said, roll of bread still in her hand.

Fernando was somewhat surprised that amira was going to hug him, but he actually liked hugs. Spontaneous hugs from girls were awesome. He had to admit it would be weird, but going for it then stopping halfway was way worse.
Whoo? Fernando awkwardly turned around to follow the second voice. There was the girl that had poofed the second salad... saying whoo.
He definitely wasn't going to join in. He wasn't even sure what called for the whoo's in the first place.
He glanced back to amira's cheerful, but embarrassed face. "You hufflepuffs are such dorks." he said, and then reached for another delicious roll. "Who is she anyway?" he asked the blond.
