Morgan was pleased to see Firefox gaining its feet again. There were more students arriving every day, and the staff positions were filling up nicely. Classes were being taught, and students were learning both book and life lessons.
In short, Firefox was becoming a school again.
As pleased as she was, however, she had been hearing a few things that troubled her. A rumor had reached her ears. She had heard that some of her students had ventured into the forest. Before she took any action, however, she had to hear from the professor whom the rumor mentioned. Arielle Bryane, the Potions Mistress. It would be a simple matter of asking Professor Bryane about it, and then taking whatever action seemed most fitting. The forest had been quiet of late, and as far as she knew, no one had come to harm.
That was before she had found the letter.
Lying on her desk when she'd come in this morning, left by an unknown person, was a scrap of parchment addressed to her. Or at least, addressed to the headmaster of Firefox University, which role she was filling for the time being.
It read:
For one panicked moment, Morgan was afraid that Fenrir had left this here for her to find; that he had returned. But no, this was not his handiwork. Fenris Fenrir did not leave polite notices. He did not promise protection of the students. If this 'lord of the woods' had been Fenrir, the note would have been attached to the corpse of a student. Or he would have confronted Morgan herself.
An unknown Lycan was not, however, much more promising. Morgan had no experience with this lord of the woods. He was therefore unpredictable. He might mean what he said about protecting students and being cooperative with professors, but this note might be a ruse. Until Morgan could be certain, she would rather not risk it.
She pulled out a quill and some parchment and dashed out a quick note:
She sent the message out, not with Mondleid, who was snoozing on a golden perch. Poor dear was getting on in his years. Instead, she had summoned a wren with a variation of the avis charm. Mondleid was not only old, but also very conspicuous. She'd much rather handle this whole thing quietly.
((First post to Arielle, please.))

dear headmaster,
i noticed some of your students stomping around our woods recently, apparently on an assignment of some sort. potions, i believe it was? while i understand fenrir's forest has been quiet of late, i'm afraid i will have to warn against this kind of behavior in the future. i myself hold nothing against your fine institution, and will protect students so long as they don't do anything stupid, but i cannot speak for the other denizens of the forest.
there are more than wolves in there.
anyway, if you need something from the forest again, i do ask that you obtain permission from me first. hit me up, yeah?
signed,
lord of the woods
p.s., no more tally, huh? give him my regards if you see him anytime soon.

Professor Bryane,
Please come up to my office at your earliest convenience. Thank you.
-Professor Morgan Pendragon
Temporary Headmistress
P.S. Be sure to say hello to Reginald, the phoenix outside my office door. Try to enunciate. Poor thing is stone-deaf.
