Ashelle wandered by the Shining Lake lost in thought. She'd done everything she could to redevelop her hearing and smell senses, but nothing seemed to be working. She didn't want to use magic because magic might fail just when she needed it most.
It made her sad to think that with all she'd learned at the compound, the powers she'd held most dear in her old life had been discarded without her knowledge.
At least I can still smell fairly well, She thought, as she caught the scent of fresh apples, likely from the apple tree on the hill behind her. She tired to identify the type of apples but failed, and only upon turning around did she see They were Strawberry Apples likely brought here by one of the pass students.
I will have to go and pick one and see if they are still editable. thought Ashelle as she looked at the tree.

That little rat had to be around here somewhere. Er, no, kitty cat. Feline. Purring little demon that kept her lips so sealed that Doneele sometimes wondered if she so much as let out a giggle. Ever. She was just sooooo much cuter when she was younger. So cute! Since she's matured a little and acts less like brat, pondered Doneele as she tip-toed across some school grasses, dark hair flickering in the wind like a cursed candle, she has become fun to mess with again, though.... She's. Just. So. Cute!
Her lush lips stretched into a smile, and she gave a little spin.
She loved these boots, too. So nice. She stretched her left foot out in front of her and admired it. They were cute and comfortable. And stylish for these times, even, if Darren was anything to believe. Her nose crinkled as she pondered. Darren would not betray her. Yet. And lying about fashion was probably against his moral code or something.
"Well, yes, yes," she muttered to herself, straightening out her pretty form-fitting black gown. "Now, where is that wee scoundrel? Perhaps she'll finally let me drag her to a bar and get her drunk or something..."
The witch held a hand over her eyes, blocking the sunlight as she peered for her puppet--er, underling. No, friend. Great-granddaughter? Well, red-headed, unsociable, rude creature with quite a right hook. Yes, that one. How many could there be after all?
Sunlight licked upon her bare arms. Children played in the water or lied about, reading or tanning, not giving a hoot about the well-figured madam who just strolled upon their property. Oh, well, a couple of boys oggled her shamelessly. She flashed a smile in their direction. Idiots. Flattering all the same, but...
Alas, she lit upon one figure that met her search specifications!
Ah, there it was! Long, red straight hair that Doneele just wanted to tie up into twin braids. She was cautiously looking about and examining apples.
Moving silently and swiftly, Doneele reached her and pounced.
"TAAAAAAAAYGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!" she called, wrapping her arms about the person before her and pushing her breasts into the wee lady's back. "Why don't you ever write? Why not send me a letter now and again? Why must I hunt you across the ocean and all over Europe before--"
As she nuzzled her face into the crook of the maiden's shoulder, she realized this scent was a bit different. And figure.
Calmly stopping and stepping back, she inhaled and deftly straightened out the unfamiliar redhead's attire.
"Pardon me. Wrong person."
Oh, dear. Not again. Had she not unwittingly done this before? That damn brat, always causing her trouble! Tut, tut, tut!

Ashelle was just pondering the best path to the top of the hill, when she felt the familiar sensation of being glomped by someone from behind. However, it was none of her cousins or even Aunt Ashlee or Aunt Vicki.
Ashelle was about to turn around to find out who would want to embrace her with such enthusiasm when they lady stopped claiming there'd been a mistaken identity. Ashelle turned to face the person only to find she was looking at a older more voluptuous Teagan Monolayre!
"Well, I hope you find the one you are looking for soon. Seem to me you must care for the person very much to wish to embrace them like that." Ashelle giggled.
"I am Professor O'Conner, Charms Teacher," she added bowing slightly, " What is you name, oh, and whom are you looking for, I might be able to help you find them?"
Post by Doneele Monolayre on Jun 17, 2012 15:10:08 GMT -5
Ah, well this lass was a bit smiley, unlike that poor younger student she jumped in the city last time. Very good, very good!
"Ah, yes, yes," answered Doneele, hooking an arm below her chest and resting her elbow on it in a thinker's pose. She gazed into the distance and puckered her lips. "However, that kid gets so embarrassed with hugging. It's quite funny, really. She gets super"--Was she using that term right?--"defensive about it and kinda puffs up like an angry porcupine.
"My name is Doneele," she said with a polite smile and a curtsy. A first name was plenty, right? "I was seeking Teagan Monolayre, but she has more cunning and a lot more stubbornness than any one person would need when it comes to hiding or avoiding people. I'm not going to bite her, I swear." Maybe blast her with a wand for being such a pain in Doneele's hind end, but bite her? No.
"Would you happen to know where that little dear has scurried off to and buried herself at, Miss--ah, Professor O'Connor?"
Post by Professor O'Conner on Jun 19, 2012 11:57:07 GMT -5
Wow, when was the last time she'd seen Teagan? Seemed like forever ago, was she even around here? Ashelle hadn't heard hide for hair of her as of yet.
"I'm sorry, I haven't seen Teagan since I was a student. Are you sure she is still around here? I wonder if she will be trying out for a Teacher position?"
Ashelle looked at Doneele and suddenly had the strangest feeling the lady was making fun of her. Ordinarily Ashelle would just brush it off as Aunt Ashlee had taught her, but there was something slightly creepy about it. If this woman was a Monolayre as Ashelle was quite she she was, than it would make sense why Teagan would hid from her BUT it would not make sense why the woman would seek her.
Most of the Monolayre's hated Teagan for being half and half or some such thing. Than why did this lady wish to find her?
"Why did you wish to speak to her anyway, if I may ask?" said Ashelle in the same voice as before.
Post by Doneele Monolayre on Jun 19, 2012 13:20:25 GMT -5
The professor had not seen hide nor hair of her since she was a wee student, hm? She probably had, even if she were not aware of it... After all, that brat was skilled at disguises. Not to mention, there was a particular kitty cat that... well, was not a kitty cat.
"She is definitely around here somewhere, but I think she only mentioned being a substitute teacher when necessary. Seems it's not really her cup o' tea or something like that," replied Doneele with a flicker of a smile across her plush lips.
She was so cute, really. Doneele long suspected Teagan had a soft-spot for kids, but, with someone as stone-cold as her, it was difficult to say for certain.
For instance, facial expressions. Facial expressions were excellent to have. As in plural. As in not wearing a perpetual glare. That wee child, pretty as she was, would end up with wrinkles if she continued on like that.
The elder witch felt a subtle change in the professor, one that suggested things may have been about to break out into a fight, as she knew from decades of experience--in other circumstances at least. This was not illegal trade or underground dealings, and they were not in a good fighting environment. Children and such. A school setting.
Well, with this person, probably no such thing would occur.
Doneele remained relaxed. She knew she could defend herself if needed--and she probably would not need to.
After all, it seemed no one recognized the name Doneele Monolayre these days. Monolayre, surely, but the name Doneele was buried under history and pseudonyms.
"Why do I wish to speak with her?" echoed Doneele, genuinely perplexed.
Well, she wanted to play with her and dress her up and take pictures with those strange things called photographs--er, no, cameras because photographs were their offspring--and tease her and force her to go shopping... She also wanted to ask about her day and job and what trouble she caused and who she hexed lately, but she doubted she would receive many answers.
Oh, and have a duel to keep in shape because Doneele had been behaving well for the past six or seven years or whatever (mostly), and both of them liked fighting.
It was like asking her why she wanted to pet a cat. And so, Doneele answered in the same fashion.
Post by Professor O'Conner on Jun 21, 2012 14:55:32 GMT -5
"..." Ashelle was speechless. Cute? Well Teagan was very pretty yes, but that was no reason to want to talk to someone, at least unless you were a teen on the look out for a temporary significant other, or - or ...
It had suddenly occurred to Ashelle that this Doneele person might, in fact, be very powerful. Not necessarily in the influential way but in the 'blow Teagan or herself to smithereens' way - if provoked. It was not often someone answered the question 'why would you like to speak with this person' in a way one might answer the question 'why would you like to play with the puffskein'.
If that were true I'd be in danger, as I always seem to be pissing people off at school. Still I'd better stay put for now. I don't want her to be suspicious of me.
"Well, I suppose that's as good a reason as any." said Ashelle pleasantly. "I must admit she is a very pretty young lady as I recall. I suppose we could try and look for her if you wanted."
Post by Doneele Monolayre on Jun 22, 2012 21:21:45 GMT -5
The young professor was speechless at first. Doneele smiled. Teagan's cuteness was a rare diamond that could only be seen with great care and patience. And decent defensive skills.
Pretty.
Doneele gushed as if she were fawning over her favorite pet.
"Isn't she?! But she downright refuses to dress up all but once a blue moon," she prattled on happily, her voice regaining the tin of an old, forgotten accent. "And trying to put makeup on her is like trying to give a cat a bath, claw marks included! You should try te convince 'er, an' we'll 'ave a nigh' on the town! She'll pro'ly be nicer te ye than te me."
Regaining her composure and forcing down her excitement, Doneele coughed a little into a fist and folded her hands in front of her. Elegantly.
"Well, more polite," she continued, acting slightly embarrassed as she corrected her accent and made it more American. She shyly combed a wave of black hair behind her ear. No piercings.
"I know where she lives, but she's nocturnal and, for some reason, men become uneasy in town and say I shouldn't walk around the area after the sun goes down. Of course, there's no way I'd dare enter her apartment without permission," she added, somehow suggesting that she tried such a thing before and was lucky to escape with her life and would absolutely never ever attempt such a thing again without dire need.
After all, that witch's traps were really something.
Post by Professor O'Conner on Jun 23, 2012 9:31:59 GMT -5
Ashelle had come to the conclusion that even if this was a very powerful aunt of Teagan's which she had failed to meet last visit, at least she wasn't out to blow up Teagan's new house or something. A night on the town did seem like a nice idea. And if Teagan lived in town maybe Ashelle could visit her - if she knocked first of course.
"That sounds like a lovely idea. I suppose I could ask her to come out with us. Though, dressing Teagan up might be an issue she's never liked robes and dresses as much as myself." Ashlee smoothed her O'Conner day robes with pride, The moment O'Conners had told her they had such things she had taken pains to never where anything else, except when asked to. At least some wizards still knew how to do things right.
"Where did you wish to go? Drakborough is kind of a sleepy little hamlet, as I recall."
Post by Doneele Monolayre on Jun 23, 2012 10:45:13 GMT -5
"If you can get her to agree to come out," said Doneele smoothly, "then she will dress up--a little, at least. She likes to keep her word and do things correctly. And if she's not dressed up, then we can tell her that her attire is not suitable. She'll probably concede a little."
A little, for Teagan, was quite a lot. Psychologically, anyway.
Doneele's violet eyes flickered to the professor's robes. They were prestigious, but she suspected they were quite hot in this summer sun. Then again, perhaps she used a cooling charm of some kind. Did she say she was the charms teacher?
She smoothed the fabric of her gown.
"Oh, I don't know. You know the area and haunts far better than I do... You said you attended school with her?"
Professor O'Conner implied rather than stated, but close enough.
Post by Professor O'Conner on Jun 25, 2012 10:35:18 GMT -5
"Why - oh yes I guess I did," said Ashelle, recalling her words at the beginning of the conversation.
"She was older than me but, I thought we were friends. I could have been mistaken, however. Once I was invited to her home or what I thought was her home, and it turned out she didn't live in the Monolayre household but in a small house on the property that had recently been blow up. I was shocked and dismayed and told them so." Ashelle sighed.
"I wasn't kicked out, but I've never been invited back, which I completely expected of course. Being diplomatic and sticking up for friends are not two thing that are easily achieved at the same time." Ashelle suddenly realized she was talking to much, and Doneele had been polite enough not to comment.
"So, what about you? Do you do anything for work? If not, how do you occupy your days?
Post by Doneele Monolayre on Jun 25, 2012 19:36:55 GMT -5
Oh! Teagan's schoolfriend! So exciting!
Doneele's eyes lit up as she listened. Teagan was such a cute kid, really. Too unsociable but surprisingly protective over her friends.... Or so Doneele supposed. It was not as though Teagan ever invited Doneele to meet her friends or something, always claiming that she had no friends or some silly nonsense like that.
"Well, her father was a squib after all. It's only natural he didn't put up with the antics of... his siblings.
"But that was quite brave of you," she complimented easily. "To be invited so easily and then tossed aside--Were you invited over because you come from a prestigious family?"
She was fishing. And buying time. Career... hm. No job since she returned. Doneele mostly lived off Darren's money, sometimes Teagan's, and sometimes... other people's. Well, so be it. Honesty could be good once in a while. Perhaps this sweet professor might toss something interesting her way.
"Well," said Doneele, somewhat shyly as she flicked some hair over her shoulder. "I am, what you might say... Seeking employment?" Yes. That was so much kinder than saying one was unemployed. That word tasted so vulgar.
Doneele coughed lightly into her hand.
"As I've only just come to this place, I have spent most of my time becoming familiar with the town of Drakborough and looking for my lovely little... Teagan."
Oh dear. She almost said, "Lovely little puppet," but that would not do at all, would it?
Post by Professor O'Conner on Jun 29, 2012 13:18:43 GMT -5
"Oh dear, how sad. I can remember how awful it was to be teased before my school days. I imagine being teased by magical folk could only have been worse." Not that I wish to remember right now, she thought severely to herself pushing the memories that had begun hollering for her attention back with a mighty effort.
Ashelle listened attentively up until the words 'quite brave of you' escaped Doneele's mouth. Brave? Seriously? People at Firefox and it's environs had been calling her a coward for as long as she could remember. Her eyes were wide and her mouth a thin line, trying to hold back all she wished to say to Doneele about her life and the people who had attempted to ruin it with their unkind words.
When she finally processed the question asked Ashelle couldn't help tripping over her own words. "Well, I thought - I suppose so, but - I mean I belong to a better one now, not that I am as proud of that sort of thing as I used to be- I mean they're worth being proud of but, you know, not like that." All her tripping came to a halt when Doneele confessed she was looking for a job.
"Ahem, well, the school has just reopened, maybe you could ask Professor Morgan for a job? She's acting Headmistress, you see, and if you have any magical expertise or are good at healing or organizing a house elf brigade, I'm pretty sure she could find you something. So far I have been borrowing some of my family's House Elves to help me clean up the Hospital Wing."
Ashelle listened again and Doneele expressed her interest in Teagan. Ashelle was fairly sure now she was some kind of Super powerful aunt who had gone rouge from the family.
"Well I suppose we could either got find her or go ask Morgan if she might have a post for you. I don't mind either way. Though posts are filling up rather quickly. I hope all the professors work out." she added as an after thought.

Professor O'Conner quickly revealed some information. First off, she was raised as a muggle, but came from a prestigious family of some kind regardless. This presumably meant something like her parents had been killed when she was younger, and she grew up separately from her family because of it. Once rediscovered by the wizarding community, she regained her wealth and name. After all, there was no way that bitch of a daughter, Victoria Monolayre, would be so friendly as to invite a muggle-born into her home. Secondly, she was vulnerable to flattery.
Doneele decided that she liked this person.
Thirdly, the title of "acting" headmistress seemed rather intriguing. Fourth, there was work to be had, and Doneele felt quite certain her little puppet would not stray to far from this place. Doneele supposed this area was like a safety zone to her.
"Well, I don't know about 'organizing an elf brigade,' but I've a decent hand at potions." A "decent hand" as in she had yet to meet anyone close to her match in that department.
"Well then, how about you take me to her office? I plan to stick around, and I doubt waiting another day for my Teagan-hunt will make much difference."
Post by Professor O'Conner on Jul 4, 2012 23:44:44 GMT -5
Professor O'Conner smiled. "Oh that's wonderful, maybe you can help me keep the Hospital Wing potions cabinet stocked! It's been taking up all my time lately. Very well, right this way Miss Doneele."
Ashelle motioned for her to follow then headed up the hill. She hopped Morgan would hire Doneele, as she seemed very pleasant to talk to and somehow easy to confide in.
Happy, for once, to be back at Firefox, Professor O'Conner lead the way to Firefox Castle and onward toward the Headmistress' Tower.
