"Get back here," a haunting voice trailed out of a bedroom in the girl's dorms as her cat ran down the stairs with a sock in his mouth. A large suitcase lay open on her bed pledging testimony to the fact that it's owner had just arrived. The room was slowly acquiring a feeling of being lived in, some paintings hung on the walls, books lay in piles on the floor for there were not shelves for them. Still there was a sad atmosphere in the room, one that even color and decorations couldn't stifle.
"You're no help at all," the blond girl mumbled as she trailed after her cat being in no mind to go searching for her sock after the russian blue stashed it in some hidden corner of the Common Room. Walking down the stairs, she felt an odd sort of chill spread down her spine. Instinctively, she glanced over to the fireplace, expecting a figure of a nightmare to be there. But she wasn't. It was daytime, sunlight streaming through the windows, and no one was anywhere to be seen.
"Diamond, come here," she told her cat, who obliged by coming over so she could pick him up. Picking up the sock from the floor where he dropped it, she was about to head back to her room when flashes of brown and yellow caused memories to emerge in her mind. Memories of an old school with a Common Room much like this; memories of friends, adventures, and the horrible things that came of the latter.
The grin the blond girl sported earlier disappeared quickly, only to be replaced by the drawn look that had haunted her for months. Tears no longer flowed from her swollen eyes, for she had taken to that pastime for the past nights. Her large green eyes no longer sparkled, although their vivid color was not lost. All in all, the girl the sixteen year old Rezna Lardale had been no longer existed.
Hugging her friend tightly, Rezna tried to calm down. She knew that killing herself over the transfer from her old school to Firefox would do little good to anyone. Still, forgiveness came slowly, if it would come at all. Although much of the move was her parents' fault, she let it happen. With a sigh, the girl closed her eyes as she leaned back in her chair, the purr and occasional lick from Diamond doing it's usual magic to calm her destroyed nerves.
