If somebody were to ask Yamaroshi how he was feeling, he would ignore manners and simply say, "Miserable". That was how the last few months had been for him. Indeed, the war had shattered him psychologically. But worse than that, after he believed the Society of Shadows to be obliterated, he ran into one of them, face to face.
Afraid he might run into a shadow every second, the boy was afraid to go into public, secluding himself in Triangle Tunnel, avoiding contact with people as much as he could, eating whatever he could find: bugs, mice, garbage, and if he felt brave, he would treat himself to food from one of the shops at Triangle Tunnel. Nonetheless, he was nearly on the Verge of anorexia, dirty, unshaven, and lonely, not even wanting to summon his dog, Kamaroshi, afraid of what he might say.
Though one day, sick as he was of living the life of a hobo, Yamaroshi finally pulled the rock out of his pocket, placed it on the ground, and formed the dirt into the shape of a miniature human. Kamaroshi was no standing in front of him. He immediately began to speak, saying everything Yamaroshi was afraid he would say, and after a few minutes, convinced the boy to go head towards Firefox University to see if he could sleep in a spare room.
The boy had no concept of time. He didn't know how long it was since he let himself into solitude. When he stepped out of Triangle Tunnel, he was in for a rather unpleasant surprise. Snow. Now, Yamaroshi could fully realize how long it had been since he entered Triangle Tunnel. It was already winter. Throwing his head back, Yamaroshi let out a moan of misery. Winter was his least favourite season, and he didn't have any winter gear. He already began to shiver. Hopefully it would be warmer in the castle.
Having not seen the castle up close many times, the boy could not apparate toward it, as part of the apparation process included 'visualizing'. He had to walk the whole way.
Arms crossed, and with the form of Kamaroshi sitting on his shoulder, the boy made his way toward what he hoped was the castle. Along the way, he began using earth magic to shift the snow out of his way, so he wouldn't have to trudge through it and get his feet wet. Then, Yamaroshi began to ponder. "Kam, I've been learning earth magic for a long time, and I'm really good at it now. I think I'm ready to learn fire.
All he got from Kamaroshi was, "You know I won't be able to help you with that one".
"You know," Yamaroshi said out loud. "Forget the going inside now. I want to learn how to use fire." By now, he was standing on the dueling field without knowing it even existed.
Despite the cold weather, the boy was eager to start learning. He used earth magic to pile a lump of dirt up so it would stick out of the snow. With a little transfiguration, he made the material flammable. This wasn't actually the first time he had considered learning fire magic. Several months back, he was curious enough to search through an old text, looking for how to use it. Reaching into his left pocket, he pulled out a small piece of parchment with possible incantations for fire magic copied on it. The first, Ignis. The boy spoke this word out loud, and to his surprise, two or three red sparks flew out of his wand and traveled almost half a metre before dying out. wow. The boy hadn't been expecting his much so soon. He could create sparks. A large smirk manifest itself across the boy's face. It reminded him of his first year, when he learned to shoot multi coloured sparks out of his wand. But these sparks weren't just a kid's toy -- they were fire. He just did fire magic.
He stepped closer to the mound of dirt in front of him. His first step would be to actually light it on fire. Aiming his wand at it, he spoke the incantation, ignis once again. With less distance to travel, he sparks hit the dirt, and he almost expected it to light up. It didn't. The three sparks he conjured died only a second after coming in contact with the mound. Of course, he realized that with elemental magic, he would need to focus, especially considering he was only beginning to learn this one, and it wasn't the one he was born with. With more concentration, the boy spoke the incantation again. The sparks were brighter in colour, which meant they were hotter, but still, they died out. With even more determination, he shouted the incantation, sending even more sparks at the dirt. They lingered, but would disappear soon. Panicking, the boy shouted the incantation again and again, while blowing at the sparks to feed them oxygen. Ignis, ingnis, IGNIS.
Between Yamaroshi's blowing and shouting, a flame began to appear. Slowly, it grew, and engulfed the dirt patch in front of him. His face bright with excitement, Yamaroshi cheered to himself, triumphant. As the snow around the fire melted, the boy thought to himself he could stay outside, and practice this magic all day. Though one might think he was working hard, he was really trying to avoid entering the castle. He was still afraid the new headmistress might be a shadow.
OOC: For all you who bothered to read my post, sorry it was so long, but since nobody responded to my post in Triangle Tunnel, I had lots to say...
