It would have been ever so depressing if she had died right there, the heavy blade speared hilt deep into her body, retching blood and screaming before the darkness enveloped her. He was almost positive that it was going to happy, that his little adversary would die, but her reaction time was a little too quick for that. The blade hung in the air, suspended, shimmering against the force of the magic holding it back from its prey. He could hear it humming. He could almost feel the hum of the blade. It was alive in its own way, and surely felt cheated out of a feast of blood and energy. It a piece of his soul was inside that armor, and it gave it at least a semblance of life. There was hunger there, a dark ad twisted and piercing hunger.
The Violet King glanced at the Hufflepuff and knew her thoughts almost instantly, for they were only logical in this situation of supreme disadvantage. She flicked her wand in his direction, and his blade flew forward like a bullet, becoming a blur of silver and delicate violet color. It was straight and true, but not quite as fast as it would have been had he done the job. An explosion of light met his eyes and spots of color filled his vision. The glare was bright and painful as it jabbed at his nerves. He recovered himself from this attack, but by now the blade was upon him.
“Stop” he thought, and let the energy around him and within him reach out. Tendrils of pure magical energy embraced the blade, wrapping themselves around it and restraining it in mid-flight. An energy field manifested itself around the blade and around Syrus himself, causing the fire to dissipate almost immediately. A cloud of steam and violet haze obscured Roan’s view of her tormentor.
Leaving the blade hanging from its invisible perch, Syrus Korodin leapt forward, willing the energy within his armor to propel him forward. He tore through the haze like a bat out of hell. His eyes shone and his mouth was open in a roar of absolute rage and fury. Before Roan knew what was upon her he had reached her, striking her hard in the stomach with his knee and knocked her to the ground. With a roar of primal fury he jumped on her, knocking the air out of her lungs as he sat on her stomach. He grabbed her arms with his metal claws and pinned them down. Almost immediately the cold began to fill her, and ice began to appear on her arms where he held her with a vise like grip. He breathed hot mist into her face and chuckled.
“Caught.”
