Navara Svartblad strolled onto the dueling field, a bit confused. He had been sent what seemed a random challenge. His yellow eyes scanned the field from behind dark shades. He slowly looked for his opponent, but apparently, he'd arrived first. That was fine, he wasn't particularly worried about the duel. The tone of the challenge hadn't been too serious and the half-drow was sure it was just some student wanting bragging rights for taking down a full-grown wizard. Granted, Nav was only just full-grown, but still...
He felt his wand, already in hand. He'd come on his break from work, and was wearing baggy khaki-colored cargo pants and a plain green t-shirt over a long-sleved white tee. He hoped this wouldn't take too long, he hadn't had lunch yet. He tucked a loose silver strand behind his pointed ear and waited for his mystery opponent to get there.
Selene walked gracefully to the dueling field and noticed an adult wizard standing there. Her almost white hair fell to her shoulders as her cold amythest eyes scanned the male as if trying to find out if he was a good opponent. Taking out her wand, she twirled it in her fingers as she stood on the opposite side of the field. "Waiting for someone? Or am I allowed to test myself against a more challenging opponent?" she asked with a hint of a smirk. She wasn't there for bragging rights, she was there to see how skilled she was at the art of dueling.
Nav was fairly sure that the girl who approached him wasn't his opponent. She didn't look like an 'Arc' to him. Well, if Arc wasn't going to show up, he'd duel this girl. He decided he'd like a warm up, in case he opponent did show, and if he didn't, at least Nav wouldn't have wasted his time. There was the little matter of him being loathe to attack a girl, but she had challenged him, so it wasn't like he set out to beat her up. Mind made up, he replied.
"Sure," he said, smiling in his quiet way. "I was, I mean, I am, waiting for someone, but they're not here yet. I suppose I could duel you while I'm waiting. What's your name? I'm Nav." He took the shades off, and put them in his pocket. If he was going to duel, he'd need to rely on his sight, and if his yellow eyes startled the competition, even better.
Selene smirked slightly when he introduced himself. "Me, I'm Selene," she spoke locking eyes with him to show she wasn't scared or intimidated. "So are we allowed to use unforgivables?" She asked as her violet eyes held a slightly sadistic glint in them.
It has been a while since she had dueled anyone, her last opponent was a fourth year Ravenclaw named Arc. But even if she was a bit rusty she was going to give all that she had, and hopefully talk this Nav into helping her take down the ministry.
Nav laughed. "Unforgivables? Nah...Let's just make this a friendly duel. Besides, I've got another duel after this, you have to leave enough of me for the other guy to destroy." Navara held his thirteen inches of larch ready. "Wands at the ready....one...two..three!"
"Langlock!" He shouted, throwing the spell at her with all his might. If it worked, it would glue her tongue to the roof of her mouth, and unless she was good at silent casting, it would effectively end the duel. Of curse, if she was good at silent casting, he'd no longer know what she was throwing at him, and would have to rely on basic defense.
Before she had the chance to respond, Nav already cast a spell at her. Sighing she held her wand in front of her and cast a nonverbal version of the shield charm. "You have to try better than that sir," she smiled as she aimed her wand at him. So he is using some of the Half Blood Prince's spells eh. Two could play at that. she thought to herself calmly. "Sectumsempra" she shouted hoping to cause a deep gash across his chest.
Well, this little Gryffie meant business, didn't she? No harmless little incantation did she throw, but one designed to slice a man, or in this case drow, open. "Protego," He said quickly throwing up a shield to ward off the magical blow. "Now, now, nice little girls shouldn't cast spells like that. I thought we were keeping this friendly. Incarcerous" And with that thick, heavy ropes were sent toward the girl, in an effort to bind her.
"You will note that my spells do not draw blood when they are cast. Please try to keep this clean. I'd hate to be responsible for any injury to you. How would the dear minister take it?" These White sisters, he'd heard of them. They were after the ministry, for what reason, he didn't know, but it didn't matter. The enemy of his enemy was his friend, right? He'd use tham to his and Ashelle's advantage.

((Mind if I join? Silvain's not gonna fight, but maybe he could stumble onto the duel and watch?))
*NOTE TO ALL: I'm leaving the site with this character, but look for a new, older Ravie to come in at the beginning of the school year next year who actually knows something about magic and can participate in the main plots without the need for the teachers who aren't here. Thanks. ((AND YES, I AM REALLY A GIRL IRL!!!)) *Shock of shocks*
Feeling the ropes bind her, Selene looked down at her wand. 'Finite,' she muttered under her breath as she watched the ropes disolve. "Oh so this is going to be a totally clean duel," got it," she smiled sweetly at him. "Sorry about that," she grinned sheepishly. "As for how the minister would take it, I could really care less. Just because I don't like the government doesn't mean anything. I did nothing wrong it's my sister that has the dark agenda." she sighed.
She didn't mean that much harm, she knew that this wizard could block it. "In that case," she shrugged. "Impedimenta," she chanted hoping to either freeze or knock back Nav.

Wow...is this a real wizard's duel? Silvain crept closer, hiding among trees at the edge of the forest he really wasn't supposed to be in. He watched the two wizards going at it in wonder. Wow...look at those spells...Some pretty amazing stuff going on...He made sure to keep himself way out of the way, so he'd have a lot of time to get out of the way if an errant spell flew his way...

((Sure Silvain, You're more that welocme to watch the duel))
"Protego," He said, somewaht bored. What, stripped of the power to inflict bodily harm, she slipped into basic spellwork? "Stupefy!" He didn't really expect that one to work, it was elementary stuff, but it might just goad her into leting the next one go through, "Petrificus Totalus" Once again, a basic manuever, but since she had to deal with two spells thrown one right after the other, one of them ought to hit her.
He puzzled over her other words. He hadn't metioned anything specific. Either this girl was a legimens, highly unlikely, or she was omniscient in some other way. "Princess, I never said anything about you doing something wrong. I was just stating my concern that it might be taken the wrong way by certain parties if a full grown wizard, who just happens to be half drow, were to injure a student of this school."

((Thanks.))
A...drow? Silvain wondered what nationality that was, or if it was some other magical creature that could breed with humans.
What a concept...He'd never come across any sentient species other than humans before...But he'd overheard talk of them in his wanderings throughout the school.
I'll have to look that up later. For now, he simply stayed near the tree line, watching the spells and focusing to remember the pronunciation and hopefully the effects of some, if any ever landed...
Protego...some sort of barrier or defensive shield...
He drew out his wand, and whispered the incantation. His wand sparked and let out a puff of magic dust, but nothing else. He whispered it a bit more insistently, and a small expandable clear thing appeared about a couple inches long.
"Cool..." he whispered, logging that away for later to practice. He looked up to watch the others again.

"Alight whatever you say dude," she smiled sweetly as he cast the shield charm. Wathcing him closely, she didn't notice the Ravenclaw that was watching from a distance.
As the two spels were cast one after the other Selene's eyes widdened in shock. I'm going to get hit by at least one of them, and that is going to be bad," she thought to herself. As the first stunning spell was coming toward her she didn't have enough time to react. Shit she thought to herself as it hit her square on.
