"Blaze!"
. . .
"Flare up!"
. . . .
"WILDFIRE!"
. . . . .
The straw dummy stood before her almost mockingly, unharmed by any of the meager flames she had produced. Sweat pored down the side of Ashelle's face as she stared at the dummy angrily. Why couldn't she get this? She'd been at it for an Hour and a half. Nothing seemed to work . . . she even resorted to trying to find a Keyword to say like those Muggle comic book heroes. She knew of these because in her last orphanage they'd had a library of them. If you were good they'd let you go and read there for an hour or so. Ashelle had gone once or twice after the other children had bragged about it often enough, but she hadn't really gotten interested.
"Okay, I need . . . I need . . . . . . to have a rest." she said aloud and sat down on the ground. "I need to find that flame inside me, that elemental spirit that I saw before. I have accepted it, but I guess I need to stay in touch with it." Ashelle moved her legs into the lotus position as if she were going to meditate. She was half afraid of what she'd see but know that it was not only important for her own training but important for Marc that she be able to protect both of them.
It took her a few minutes but at last she was able to relax and enter her inner self. Maybe it was her imagination but it seemed as if her inner self was beginning to look more and more like a Labyrinth than anything else. Perhaps her secret keeping was catching up to her? Still she didn't have time to wander about. Luckily this was her Innerspace, and here anything was possible. Floating into the air she took off for the center of her Labyrinth.
Even before she reached the Eternal Flame at the center she could feel the heat of it. Still without a moment of hesitation she quickened her flying and dived into the middle of the flames.
BOOM!
A tiny mushroom cloud was seen at the school, emanating from where the Straw Dummy had once stood. What could be happening out there in the Dueling Field?
