As the ravenclaw rapidly descended from her leap of death, she calmly mounted her broom and skillfully angled herself to the dueling field.
She scouted the area quickly, noting the positions and states of the benches, enclosure, entrances, and grasses. She dismounted her broom, shrunk it, and pocketed it.
Her red eyes counted the entrances again. Other than the sky or turf, there were only two for this section of the aparation-proof school grounds. Whoever was patrolling tonight would have to enter via one of those openings.
No other students were in the field. There was frost on the ground, making all of the grass white and stiff. Most of the wind was blocked off, so that was of no concern. The sky was fairly dark, but it left everything in an eerie glimmer. How come it was always night when she came to this area, anyway?
Teagan thought about charming the exits to ward off any wandering students or professors or other creatures, but she figured that would spoil the fun. Hopefully, no vampires excited to set off fireworks would stop by...
She circled the perimeter in a very calculated fashion and then waited, wand drawn. It had been such a long time since she had a good duel.

After watching the ravenclaw vault hastily into a descent from atop of the ravenwood tower, Shadow immediately turned heel and followed suit - carrying his light weight down the stairs at a hurried rate. He envied her skill in flight dearly, but he never intended to so much as to step near a broomstick again. For now, his feet served him better than any other mode of transport.
Slipping almost silently through the halls, the slytherin ran a pale, etiolate hand through his untamed locks - hesitating as his back pressed against a wall; peering around the corner with darkened yet alert cobalt eyes. It was one thing for Teagan to slip by the premise's watchful eyes; the teachers, the prefects and generally any other students who happened to wander abouts after curfew. Shadow, however, would almost certainly be deemed trouble-maker or suspicious in the slightest. And he wasn't particularly interested in receiving hour long lectures and detentions.... not from the likes of Felix.
Miniature footsteps padded quickly over the floors, keeping to the pathways in the shadows - quiet and small enough to avoid notice in the darkness. The auburn animal stopped at the steps, having maneuvered its way out onto the grounds. Its form changed swiftly, the disgruntled young serpent rolling his eyes as he glanced once around and steadily made his way towards the dueling field - wand in hand.
"Thanks for the help getting here unnoticed," he scoffed, sneering a little at the red-head who walked the area as his strides came to an abrupt halt. He was careful to keep watch on the eagle, his fingers flexing a little in anticipation.
It was better to stay alert from such an unpredictable demoness

Teagan's adversary finally arrived. It seemed Shadow was not a flier.
"Sorry," she answered innocuously. With a straight, calm face, she added, "I hope you didn't have trouble." What response did he expect? As long as she got to duel someone who would not hold back or act in a creepy stalker-like fashion, then she was content.
Neither of the seventh-years had a second, but formalities were irksome in scrimmage duels like this.
"You may strike first," the head girl said as she bowed, her short straight red hair swaying around her head.
She stepped back gracefully and readied her wand. On the bright side, he did not know that she was the one to charm his dorm door into singing "Candyman." Did anyone ever remove that charm? Anyway, there was no reason to remove the ignorance now... She remotely wondered what those poor sacrificial slytherins thought of it.
The Monolayre adjusted her stance with the ease of experience, her whippy willow wand steady, her inhuman ruby eyes locked on Shadow. Teagan had done this before.

Oh.... joy. First strike, how outstandingly lucky was he! Of course, it only translated for a worsened attempt to make a fool of himself. He'd heard enough about Teagan, sensed enough from her to know that it was a clown's-hardy to even think about making damage. She seemed nothing more than an empty shell, bullet-proof from routine stricter than that of the militaries.
Returning the sharp, though somewhat irritable bow of his head, Shadow adjusted his footing - as his weight slipped to balance evenly. His fingers gripped the smooth ebony of his wand, dragging his left arm back a little as it comfortably held the wood. Now what? Choice of spell, hum hum. That would most certainly be costly in his department. He wasn't quick to think at times like these, where he needed to choose wisely.
No doubt, that would be yet another failure on his part.
Muttering a little under his breath, Impedimenta slipped from the wandtip; the pale sea light taking quick haste with his pernament annoyance of the red-head. Hell, being in the same area, it was just driving him insane. Not with the casual lust that seemed to plague his fellow serpents with her disease, but simply with the mild fear with lay below his anger of being near her once more. Things never did end well between them.
In his opinion, he was going easy for this one shot. When she struck, he knew his limitations to be constantly above. A backwards statement, indeed, but he'd promised not to hold back.

OOC: Sorry for the wait! >.<
IC:
On the bright side, Shadow did not hesitate.
However, the Monolayre deflected his impedimenta as easily as a cat would play with a small injured bird. It rocketed off her wand into one of the stone benches. The contact birthed a crack in the gray stone. Was that how powerful his spell was? Or was it merely an ounce of the witch's aggression?
Her reaction was swift, but she moved her wand away from the bench she flung the curse into.
Her arm calmly fell back to her side, wand at the ready. Teagan was not yet even concerned. Oddly, she was at the focused ease of someone used to fending off violent attacks and of one accustomed to mirthlessly defeating those attackers.
"Come on," she said ruthlessly. "You have to do better than that."
He surely knew what he was doing.
She watched him silently, her body as abnormally calm as ever. She was the arctic; a minor storm would not phase her. The ravenclaw was not the kind of girl to antagonize her opponents into attacking. She was primarily a defensive fighter after all.
It was his move again, his chance to redeem himself. If he really fought this unenthusiastically, Teagan doubted she could bear knocking him off his feet.
