Teagan Monolayre's tired ruby and amethyst eyes glanced carefully over the dark dueling field, absorbing unimportant details about its current condition and upkeep. The one important thing they realized was that no one was there right now.
Of course, then again, it was only about... The head girl glanced listlessly at the sky. It was only about 5:50 AM, give or take a few minutes. The sun would not even rise for a while yet.
She closed her fatigued eyes tightly, and wide yawn forced its way through her stretching mouth, past her plump lips, as if she were a sleep lion cub.
She flexed her spidery fingers and pulled her arms over her head, tugging her shoulder muscles and prodding them into wakefulness. She held them there, making her limbs finally relax, then let them slump to her sides again.
She boredly brushed her somewhat messy straight hair out of her face and flexed her slender ankles.
She groaned inwardly. She felt... fatigued. So fatigued that she believed she could just lie down and sleep for twenty-four hours, without noticing a single dream. Alas, she could just lie down and try to sleep, but it was a complete failure. She supposed she would have to catch up on all this lost sleep at some point, but she had trouble remembering the last time she actually slept well.
So here she was, wandering around on the school's dueling field before sunrise on a Saturday morning she had no classes on, when only a few birds chirped on and she would rather sleep. Hell, she did not even have administrative duties as an excuse for this.
Then again, perhaps she could surprise herself by finding sleeping lovers cuddled and tangled around each other in hedges somewhere... Maybe Chelsea and Toshiya had reunited or the slytherin girl decided to disobey the rules again.
Oh, who was Teagan kidding? Those were some of the last things she ever wanted to stumble on--especially if they were naked.
A slight shiver ran down the the head girl's form. She sullenly leaned against one of the cool stone walls and crossed her arms, ruffling the battered black cloth at the bends.
She felt the pleasant spring air lightly dance across her face. She almost smiled. Almost.
Her eyes turned toward the sky again. She did not have her contacts in, so everything was only in black and white. The atmosphere did seem lighter, though... Some very light specks played off in the darker recesses of the sublime painting. Only a few clouds moved across the dimming moon.
The seventeen year old sighed, exhaling the gentle spring air slowly, letting it roll off her tongue and brush against her lips. It tasted like dewed grass.
Perhaps she could act like a vampire and sleep after the sun rose.
