It was always very odd when you found yourself in a place you didn't mean to be.
Protégé was wondering through an utterly pristine forest. He knew the beauty found here would be impossible to replicate anywhere at the school, or in Spain at all probably. He had heard tales of the Nymph Woods, obviously. While he figured it would be an interesting place to visit, he had always been too busy to explore it. To be honest, he had no clue where it was originally.
Of course, this means that when he decided to explore the lake today, he expected to simply find the bottom. So much time spent skimming the surface, diving below had to have some interesting characteristics, right? Well, it turned out the bottom held the portal to these Woods. Very nice to know. Also very unpleasant to discover without knowing exactly what it was. As much as he loved adventure, Protégé was not fond of randomly being pulled out of where he was. Generally, any time something like this happened at the school, it meant that pain was probably on the other end.
However, when he emerged on the other side, all he found was this peaceful and tranquil glade. Not another soul in sight. Curious to find out what mysteries it held, he had begun walking forward into the Woods. He kept moving in a straight line, to ensure that he didn't get lost. Ideally, he was seeking to find out what was at the edge. Yet as far as he could tell, the trees stretched beyond the horizon.
One of the more unnerving things about the peace was how complete it was. Tranquility at its height was fine, but this was just odd. He felt as if a single sound, a single whisper, would drastically change and destroy this forest he had emerged into. Every step was carefully placed so as to not crack twigs. Breathing was kept calm and quiet. He had nothing to fear, he felt, but he remained this way anyway.
Deciding to take a break from walking, he sat at the base of a tree and leaned back against it, facing the way he had came. In the distance, he could still see where he had emerged, and hopefully that would serve as a way back too. For now, Protégé would enjoy this peace, and take time to think. Or, if that failed, he'd see what mysteries this Wood held for him.
