Marina Roeswood had never been too much of a people person. Although in recent days she'd gotten a lot better about being social and pleasant, the Head Girl still appreciated her alone time, and right now, was going out of her way to get it.
The sun was just dipping below the horizon when Nina silently stole out of the front entrance of the school and onto the grounds. Over her shoulder she carried a brown leather bag that was laden with not only a few books, parchments, and quills, but also with a small assortment of cauldron cakes, chocolate frogs, Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, and an unopened bottle of butterbeer.
"It's maybe a bit chilly for a picnic, but tonight will do..." Marina said aloud to herself, not an all conscious of how silly she'd seem to someone else, talking to herself like that. She was far too content with her plan, which was to relax by herself at the riverside, stuff her face with sweets, do a little thinking, and maybe even make a small dent into the mound of homework she had to do.
As seemed to be the most recent trend, the Head Girl's mind was at current preoccupied with cheerful thoughts. In lieu of all her new friends and acquaintances, as well as her new seat of power, feelings of resentment and reoccurring bad memories had faded from the forefront of her mind. For once, Marina Roeswood had found a certain level of contentment.
As she sat down at the riverbank, she watched the reflections of the last of the sun's rays on the water's surface. Her green eyes were transfixed for a moment while her hands strayed to her bag and pulled out a cake. Nina opened the wrapper and sunk her teeth into it, chewing slowly and thoughtfully as, watching the sunset on the rippling waters, she pondered the ramifications of her position as Head Girl, who would win the quidditch world cup, and how in the world she was going to keep her report on polyjuice potion to less than 2 parchments.bg
