There was many odd tasks that the Student Government of Firefox University had to do that many didn't even have enough imagination to comprehend. For example, fighting giant version of harmless objects that had escaped the castle. See, inside Firefox there was an abundance of stray magic. Spells that missed, potions that spilled, pets that escaped and dropped wands. There was a web of invisible disconnected enchantments flying through the castle, through walls and floors, without any effect on its surroundings. The magic was so diluted, it couldn't hurt a fly, yet every once in a while enough stray magic got concentrated in the same place at the same time and created a little mischief.
Today the mischief maker was an overgrown rubber ducky.
Each dorm had their own bathroom and many of the younger students, and even a few older students, had rubber duckies. Felix himself had numerous bath toys when he was a kid: a bunch of boats, a rubber 'Homer Simpson', a star covered inflatable ball, and more. Never a duck.
He was about to get one.
Enough magic had been spontaneously concentrated inside a bathtub in the Hufflepuff dorm on this cold winter day, causing a rubber duck to spring into life. Naturally, it also grew into the size of a large dog and then hoped out of the window, onto the grounds.
Patrolling the parameter of the school, the Head Boy sensed some unnatural magic was nearby. Taking out his wand [this is before the whole Tiberius encounter] the Gryffindor thought he was prepared for anything.
That's when the gigantic ducky attacked him.
Before Felix realized what was happening, he had been knocked down into the ground. The earth beneath him was covered in ice an so Felix shot down the hill uncontrollably, closely followed by the mad overgrown rubber ducky.
Spinning around, so that he was sliding down headfirst, Felix moved his leg an instance before the hard beak of the yellow monster tried to break off his leg. Trying to keep steady, Felix pointed his wand right at the animated rubber toy and shouted,
“Petrificus Totalus!”
The large bird toy froze in place. Felix, however, kept on sliding on the icy hill for a second before splashing into a pool of freezing sludge and mud. Removing himself from the pool, a bath was obviously on his mind. There was a certain pleasure of diving into a warm clean bath after being freezing and covered in dirt. So instead of using magic, Felix climbed back up the hill, picked up the frozen giant duck and headed off to the Prefect's Bathroom for a very nice bath.
