Once upon a time there was a lake...
The night was peaceful with nothing but a sliver of moon occupied the sky. Dark waves bobbed rhythmically on the surface of The Shining Lake, without the sun or bright night orb the lake appeared anything but shiny. It appeared to be thick and black, perhaps not even water at all. Pity the poor fool who dared skinny dip in waters so ominous. Morning would take it's turn in a few hours and once again bring light to the world. A rock sat on the bank of the river. It was a rather large rock, it might have constituted as a boulder. It was a popular resting place in a high traffic walkway around the lake. Students favored it to meet friends. Everyone knew about the boulder. The boulder was not important. What was was the even taking place twenty feet away from the boulder, and over the lake about four feet. Someone was apparating.
Fuu didn't remembering it hurting the way it did. It felt like her body had tore itself up and then haphazardly been slapped back together. She had no time to complain or ponder the painful, unwanted transportation. She had more immediate things to ponder. Like gravity. To her surprise she slammed head first into the water. Fuu let her body react and float to the surface. Trying not to swallow more water than she had already she gasped for air in panic. Fairly sure she had screamed before, after, and during the apparition and once more as she hit the water Fuu tried to quiet herself.
She waded for a moment to gather her thoughts. Knotted in her hair was her wand and tucked in the waistband of her underwear was her relic... or time telling device. Whatever it was, Fuu was sure it was important. "The Lake", she murmured and then swam toward the boulder. Her arms already exhausted from leaving a grave and ripped up and splintered Fuu was about ready to give up for good. The water was frigid and she curse it for being that way after she had just started to warm up. Her legs did most of the work, kicking her safely to the shore. Digging her elbows into the earth she army-crawled out of the water... mostly. From about the knee down Fuu's legs floated, bobbing with the subtle waves.
Turning onto her back, ignoring the jabbing pain on the glass prism at her hip and that her wand was stabbing the back of her neck, she took a deep almost relaxing breath. She brought her shivering hands to her chest, using whatever dress bits she could find to make herself decent.
"Maybe I should take a little break," she said aloud. Break from what? Fuu didn't know. Break on her way to where? Fuu didn't know. She did know that she had a little over a year of memory missing. Given the event so far that night, she thought she deserved a little rest.
