He didn't know what had hit him, but whatever it was it felt like his head had been run over by a stampede of elephants. All the lights in his head had finally gone out, and he opened his blurry eyes for what felt like the first time in awhile. What he saw was a stone room, completely devoid of any decoration, and when he tried to move something dug into his skin. Looking down, the grey-haired professor found himself clapped in irons around both his wrists and ankles, and even more lengths of these chains were wrapped around his chest. He struggled against the chains with all his might, but all he succeeded to do was cut up his wrists and he felt the slippery sensation of blood dripping down his hands.
Ceasing his struggles Halifirien contented himself to trying to figure out what had happened to him in the first place and why he was here now. From what he had remembered, he was in his office preparing a new lesson when the shutters of his windows burst open, and amid the wind was a familiar voice that cursed him, and then it was lights out from that point until now. There were three things that stood out for the Scotsman though. The first of these was that there was no door, or maybe it was enchanted so he couldn't see it. But the thought of being trapped in this damp, barren hole was not a pleasant one.
The second was on the dampness. He wasn't well versed in muggle science, but he knew enough to figure that he was probably underground or perhaps in some old stone building. And the third thing that really creeped him out was the lighting in this place. It was a faint, glowing blue and it managed to lit the entire room. Either the light wasn't bright enough or something, but Frog didn't see any of that fluorescent fungi that they talked about over the radio back in the day, or maybe someone had cast an enchantment to do this.
Whatever the case, Halifirien saved his voice and chose not to scream out as other captives might. Because if he was right, his captor was probably aware that he was now awake and was most likely on their way to check up on him.
