(OOC: continued from here. )
A great, white sepulcher stood guard over the entrance of the crypt, its marbled structure standing out starkly against the starless night sky. Though it had been raining heavily only a few moments ago, the clouds now seemed content just to drip water lazily onto the earth below every once in a while. There were several scattered gravestones in the large courtyard before the entrance, still dark with rain. Though there were several times in the past where it wasn’t so, the scene was peaceful and serene, as a place meant for the dead to rest was meant to be. However, there would be a slight disturbance tonight.
A small pop announced the arrival of three figures, two boys and one woman cloaked in red. She carried what seemed to be the lifeless body of a young man, the knife embedded cruelly in his still heart having yet to be removed. Should one have held his hand, one could almost imagine a lingering illusion of warmth. Silently, she set him down on the wet, muddy ground, before turning towards one of the boys, the one with light hair.
“You are rather stupid, aren’t you?”
She spat out the word in contempt.
“Why did you raise your wand against me? You could have left with your little friend, but no. You had to play some misguided hero instead.”
Her sharp eyes glared furiously out from under her hood, relentlessly boring holes into the boy.
“For most people, saving their own skin would have been enough. You certainly valued your life enough to brainlessly sacrifice an undeserving innocent not a few moments before. But not anymore. Then, you wanted to save that one as well,” she jerked her head towards Gabriel, “who is neither innocent, nor undeserving. Even so, I gave that to you. Yet that was still not enough. Did you want the glory of defeating some evil villainess single-handedly on top of everything else? Impress your friends?”
She hissed out her last sentence, the words passing harshly past her teeth.
“You naïve fool, you take my kindness far too lightly.”
Somehow, her demeanor seemed to have changed significantly in the short time between disappearing from the House of Jokes and appearing in the crypt’s courtyard. Though her face remained hidden under the hood, her voice betrayed her, allowing the woman’s emotions to accompany her livid words. While it would be inaccurate to say that she had been entirely emotionless earlier, her previous behavior in the crumbling House was certainly much subdued by comparison.
“But I haven’t the time to lecture. I must contain the dementors before they overrun the town, no thanks to you. If either of you have anything to say to me, say it now. If not, I leave the burial of the soul you’ve wronged to you.”
