Tobias had sent Valefor with a message for Muryllis to meet him here. It was time for his initiation into the Society. If he chose against it, his memory, or his life would be gone. If he accepted, it was another added to their ranks.bg
What the hell does this silly first-year Slytherin want now, thought Muryllis as he hopped down the steps that ran from the entrance hall to the rest of the grounds. If he wants payback for his silly defeat, he might as well challenge me to a proper duel in the dueling hall; not at the crypt.
It was night time, and the ex-Nostri Magi student had been sent for by Tobias down to the crypt of Salazar Slytherin, the founder of the school. Whatever his intentions, Muryllis would find out soon enough - and he would be ready. Flicking his wand twice - for he was as adept at silent casting as others were with verbalized casting, having been taught to cast silently since his very first spell at age 8 in Nostri Magi - he enchanted himself with two of his favorite spells: the full-body degree of the Silence charm, canceling out all noise he directly produced, and his own, self-made Videre in Noctem charm, which allowed him to pick out both colors and shades at night, a valuable asset when potential danger was near.
He silently made his way to the crypt, seemingly gliding to the ancient building; his black, shoulder-length hair was tied in a pony tail behind him, and his tall, thin, six-foot figure seemed quite ominous in the eerie moonlight. He had his wand out in front of him, a fifteen-inch belladonna-soaked dragon heartstring encased in a rick, polished yew body; if anything, this master of charmwork, a highly valued field back at Nostri Magi, would be able to hold his own, especially against the pitiful spellcasting ability of the first-year he had bested, albeit with the help of another, back in the Library.
He found his mark. Walking up to Tobias, he canceled the Silence enchantment, adding the lifelike natural sounds of footsteps back to his form. "Greetings," quoth he, raising his wand up against his chest so as not to seem as threatenning; he was an honorable character, and would not put up with dishonor: if worst came to worst, he would never fight an opponent with his wand put away. "What is it you needed me for? I have much work left to do in the library, as I have just discovered an old tome on Brittanian tribal spellcasting. Make it quick, if you would; the eager mind does not find it pleasing to perform dull tasks when something as grand as knowledge is easily attainable."

Turning quickly around, his robes swirling around his body, Muryllis was greeted by an image of true grandeur. Taking in both the introduction of the Count and his awesome gauntness, Muryllis was suddenly bombarded by an incomprehensible barrage of thoughts; most prominent among these, however, read, here is the image of true honor and greatness; bow, you fool!
And bow he did, holding his wand out with both hands in respect to this saintly figure. The references to two evil cults did not manage to destroy this image, for honor knows no diplomacy. What did manage do induce greater awe, however, was not the title or the powerful image; it was simply the fact that this man was decended from quite plainly the greatest wizard of all time, Merlin the Wise. Muryllis's head sank lower, honoring the great figure before him. "Hail," said he, as the man naming himself as Count Scorpius paused before continuing.
His continuation was even more appaling; naming another great magician, the noble Salazar Slytherin, buried only feet away from Muryllis, the Count began again with with something new - promises of knowledge? Muryllis had only moments ago been flipping through the personal library of a very wise wizard indeed, but this Count had just offered him something greater?
"Do continue, mine Lord", spoke Muryllis, his eyes widening; for he had no desire for power, the child of knowledge, but promises of the parent, in greater quantity than he could possible imagine, had nearly made him lose his mind of the wonder. "I hunger for knowledge, great Count, and this limitless knowledge, as you promise it, is more than enough to entice me; what is it you ask of me? What is your reason for making this grand offer?"

Over the years of his studies at Nostri Magi, beginning when he was a mere boy of eight (effectively making him a seventh year by education, instead of the fifth year he was by age), Muryllis had always been an eager learner; every spell he had learned, both in class and in the library, was well documented in his extensive and ever-hungry mind. Every simple fact, every historical detail, was added to his savant-like bank of knowledge and wonder. He had read every book in the Nostri Magi library, but what he had found most intriguing were the various accounts of secret societies formed for various purposes; namely, as he had read, for revenge, for slaughter, for world domination - but never had he heard of one formed in the name of knowledge and wisdom, the most sacred things one could possess, the very reasons for human domination of, quite simply, everything.
Muryllis looked up at the Count, taking in his solid and stern features; this man was promising him everything he himself knew, every fact, every detail, every spell and incantation; all for his own promise of loyalty. Already kneeling, Muryllis arched himself toward the extended hand; embracing it and kissing the ring that decorated its finger. Standing back up, he then shook it, proclaiming, "I give you my word, my good Count, that I shall show my undying loyalty to yourself, your Society, and your cause." He had sealed an honorable pact with an honorable man, in the name of an honorable cause; though he did not wish to, there was nothing he could do against it, lest he shatter his own code of honor; that, of course, was heresy in his eyes. "I join thee," quoth Muryllis, his right hand still grasping the Count's own, and his left hand holding his wand at his side.
Somewhere, deep in the joyous spasms of his working mind, Muryllis could barely hear a shout of protest; this was quickly drowned in the simple idea that he had just become part of something glorious. Whether, in sooth, it was good or evil, Muryllis cared not; he had joined an honorable and chivilrous man, and that was all he cared for now.
'Very well. Welcome, Muryllis, to the Society of Shadows'
As Muryllis was taking in everything, all the happenings that just took place, his hand felt a bit... odd. Looking down, he noticed an interesting swirling mist that seemed to engulf their enchanted handshake. Suddenly, a screaming jolt pierced his hand, then his wrist, running up his arm and throughout his entire body...
He was a Shadow. The simple fact that he now donned the Society's ceremonial robes, and was accented with its badge - an intriguing badge indeed, apprently a modified version of the 'Dark Lord' who had so oddly ended his reign, killed, no, destroyed by a mere boy; Muryllis felt oddly powerful, standing there in the mark of the new order, of whose exploits he had not yet heard. Grasping the little black book which was offered to him, he opened it; here's something even Sun Tzu would appreciate, he pondered, his lips forming a mischievious smile. But I care not for this, for I do not seek power. Even still, he would read it; it was, essentially, his first assignment.
Looking back up to the Count, he said, "Nay, my lord, I have nothing to say at this time. Although," he added, "what is needed of me at this time?" If he had joined so great a man, he would have to do the very least he could - serve him.

Tobias had served as the Bonder for this Unbreakable Vow, and he had slipped backwards slightly, to raise his wand during the Vow. He allowed himself a grin, as Muryllis was accepted into the society. He had long since been in his Society Robes, and watched events unfold. He bowed humbly when he was thanked for his services, and laid his hand on his own copy of "The 48 Laws of Power" which he kept in his cloak.
Now then....that is one other added to our ranks...Gluttony....but more shall be needed. Zakum perhaps...but he seemed a bit childish while showing signs of Pride. Jeremy showed Lust...but he needed work...alot of work...That Fuu girl shows some potential...but a bit of Sloth....oh well, the Seven Sins lie within everyone, no matter how pure.....
Muryllis pondered at the three choices presented to him, weighing each. "Well, I can tell you right away that I won't be able to find much about this school's Chamber of Secrets; I'm not a parseltongue, and if I am, then I simply haven't discovered the ability," he said, twirling his wand in thought. "As for this wolf-man, I guess something can be done; and with the Salamandra family, I have been inside their house before, but I was lucky enough not to meet them."
As the Count disapparated, Muryllis turned to Tobias. "Well then; I guess we are now partners. Any ideas? If only I could get my hands on a cloak of invisibility, learning of the Salamandrae would be quite simple. Until then, I guess I'll just have to find out if a distorting haze charm is possible." If it was, he would either have to figure out how to make one (a long and tedious process), or find out if one already existed; but a cloak would simplify matters greatly.
Interesting...quite interesting. So the two were to work together? Well then...Fernis was most definately NOT Tobias' area of expertise...not until he became a better wizard. The Salamandrae would probably find them even while invisible, but the Chamber...now he could do that, for two reasons. He stepped out of his little den of shadows, and opened his mouth to speak to Muryllis, his partner.
"I beleive that I can handle the Chamber. As it so happens, I am a passive Parstletongue. I am getting better at forcing it, but still, no guarentees. I have a hobby of finding hidden items, and places. Rest assured Muryllis, that I will find the Chamber, and crack it open within the next few weeks." As he spoke, he held his hand out, for a handshake with his new "partner in crime."
