ooc: Continued from the Diadem Thread. First post for Teagan.
Her move at him made Gabriel jump. Gabriel hadn't used a portkey before, so when Avarielle had grabbed his hand, he hadn't the slightest idea what the hell she was doing. There had been a few awkward seconds where Gabriel tried to clean the image away that had been burned into his eyes.
Eliza had been dead. And he'd killed her.
There was an uncomfortable sensation of his insides being pressed together, and then free falling. His ears popped, his feet landing on a much more solid ground than the stony-sprouting earth of the ruins. Almost immediately Gabriel fell over again, his legs weak from the combination of the portkey and the shock of seeing something he had never wanted to see.
Gabriel took a few slow breaths. The mirror was gone, everything was fine. They were all fine. Even that irritating pixie had disappeared. Thank god for that, Gabriel didn't think he could deal with those irritating words that passed for speaking.
"Thanks."
He glanced around.
They were on top of a god damned building. Amused, Gabriel let go of her hand and walked to stand just a couple of feet from the edge before glancing back at the girl. What was her real name? He wouldn't ask. Angel. He glanced down. Too bad he couldn't fly.
Oh wait.
Never mind.
Gabriel considering shifting and taking off, for he didn't feel like having to answer questions. He even looked half-ashamed about something, eyes dropping to the ground. "I'm sorry I wasn't any help before. The mirror." He put a couple of fingers to his temple. "It, um. It was like ... I don't know. It showed things that weren't real."
"I-I hope they weren't real, I mean." What if he had killed her, before he'd left for the wards? What if that was something he had done in one of his crazy memory loss moments. For a moment his whole body shook and he felt like he might fall again. Alarmed, Gabriel took a few rushed steps away from the edge. If he freaked, he might not be able to shift in time.
After all, it wasn't that far of the way down.
He watched her, tempted to reach for a knife but deciding to ignore it for now. It wouldn't last, but surely he could go a minute or so without picking one from his belt. Surely.
Maybe.
He hadn't the slightest idea why she brought him up here, of all places. Surely not to watch the sun rise.
"Why here?" he asked, crossed his arms in front of him. 971
