{I know I owe in classes, but Niobe really needs to get out. And I know we don’t do Invite Only but I’d like to ask Phugs to stay out She really needs to meet new people}
Niobe had never really been into the village of Drakborough on her own. There was a time with Phugsius but that had been after dark and she had been asleep while they walked through it. When other students went to town to shop she often just sat in the school to read a Potions book she had received. Now her family had gotten their Christmas bonus and sent some of it to her so she could get shopping done for her family and friends. The Hufflepuff knew she was fully expected to have something for each person when she went to visit them over the holidays where they were currently stationed in New Orleans. And there was also the fact she wanted to get something for Phugsius so he’d have something from her to open on Christmas morning.
Her bright eyes window shopped as she strolled down the cobblestone roads of the wizarding village. Niobe’s bright red hair clashed with the yellow on her cloak and scarf that were marks of her Hufflepuff house. One arm clutched a bag over one shoulder that already had a couple of wrapped parcels sticking their corners out of it. There was a ton of magical candy for her father who had a sweet tooth that he had passed onto his daughter. For her mother she had gotten a new quill that wrote as one dictated to it. It wasn’t very personal but she knew it would be useful in their field. And for her brothers there had been the usual small magical trinkets. Miniature broomsticks that actually flew, and a wizarding chess set that they knew they couldn’t use around the muggles they went to school with. The last gift was eluding her though.
What was she supposed to get for Phugsius?
The usual corny relationship gifts seemed so inappropriate for the situation. After his return she felt like their relationship was on a new level and she couldn’t just get him something completely impersonal because she didn’t know what she was doing. For a while the girl stopped at a Quidditch shop and looked through the window at all the gear they had. Did he even play Quidditch anymore? There hadn’t been any matches at the school since she had gotten there. Tucking her hair behind her each and grumbling to herself she moved on, wrapping her arms around herself against the cold.
A magical jewelry store was next down the line but Niobe ignored it. While it would be quite a laugh to get him some gaudy necklace it wouldn’t be proper. Next store was a bit more promising. It seemed like a supply store of sorts but the Hufflepuff saw Sneakscopes in the window. Maybe he’d like one of those. Some hope was renewed in the girl and she went into the shop to look around.
