Phugsius sat on the field after their humiliating loss to Ravenclaw. He stewed in self loathing. The snitch had been right in front of his face and he had blatantly let the Ravenclaw seeker snatch it right out from under his nose. This loss was on his shoulders and his alone. Karma, he figured. His current affairs with the Hufflepuffs had obviously turned fate against him in this game. Excuses could not be made though. It was his fault the game was lost and he was willing to accept that, no matter how painful.
This also could have been fate telling him to bring his ego down. To get off of his high horse. He turned to the sky where just moments earlier he'd lost his team the game. He sighed and stared at a few select blades of grass. He couldn't be a downer now though, he had to be the captain everyone saw him as. Obviously mistakes were made and Phugsius wasn't about to use the "I'm a rookie" excuse to cop out of liability.
Standing now he walked over to his downtrodden team slowly and solemnly. He spoke in a calm but projected manner so his team could hear him. "Ladies and Gentlemen, We suffered a terrible loss today at the hands of Ravenclaw. One that I can say will hurt for a long while. We must not let it get us down though. Mistakes were made, mostly on my part, and I will not deny it. We must always take our lumps though". He looked into each members eyes, "It is not how we lost that counts now, it is how we're going to bounce back and prepare for our game next week against Gryffindor, and come out of this season with our heads held up high. Let this loss sink in, and let it hurt just for today. Let's shrug it off tomorrow and let this loss server to remind us that we must try harder if we want to win". With those words Phugsius dismissed his team.
Emerald green eyes swept the field and the surrounding scenery.
