A woman appeared at the entrance of a 'subway tunnel' on the North side of Madrid, Spain. She stood in a powerful looking white robe that covered her thin, but not slender, frame. Her hair was a long white blonde which fell around her shoulders, and her sapphire blue eyes lacked life that would usually be in a woman of her age. She appeared to be in her early 20s, though the look of business upon her face held that she was much more powerful than she seemed.
Raised high in her left hand was a foot long stick that seemed to have done some kind of trick with the light, and in her right hand was a long, artistically crafted broom of sorts. From all these eccentricities, it was clear she was not a normal person. As businessmen passed by her, they gave her a glance like she was the most bizarre person they'd ever seen. A strange tourist probably visiting Spain for some excellent tapas. A few teenagers with spiked blue hair and pierced noses, however, gave her the thumbs up motion to show they approved. The woman gave them a icy glance, at which their hands failed and they looked away disappointed. Then she disappeared into the tunnel, away from all her previous watchers' sights.
Because this woman was a witch, and this was truly the entrance to a colony of sorcerers, the ordinary people, or 'muggles', had absolutely no idea where she had vanished to. The witch, knowing she had plenty more ground to cover before she reached her destination, straddled the broom she carried and magically moved faster than she would on foot, flying deeper into the Tunnel. In under a minute on her speedy instrument of cleaning, she had arrived at a set of gates over which hung a sign. "Northern Vertex Entrance." It read. The woman pursed her lips and pushed open the gates, at which movement an alarm went off and several men in imperial purple robes had surrounded her.
"In the name of the International Confederacy of Wizards, we command you to halt!" They said with an air of superiority, brandishing their weapons - carved wooden sticks, like the woman - at her. The witch sighed and shrugged her arms delicately, showing no sign of resistance. "Oh," one of them said, coming towards her, "We're very sorry we have to obstruct your business, Senorita, but we are having a great deal of trouble in the Tunnel lately and are just trying to keep residents and shoppers safe."
The witch nodded, and the wizard who had said this waved his weapon around her like a scanning device. The others held back and whispered all sorts of words and chants. Another checked an instrument similar to a top that he held in his hand. It did not even flicker. "Very well, Senorita," the man said proudly, "You're free to go about your business, but we'd like to know where you plan to go." The woman's eyes coldly surveyed the wizard in his purple robe much more severely than he had even done to her, less as a precaution but more as a curiosity.
"I plan to meet with Minister Plutus," the icy woman said in a powerful voice, "And I'd like to know the location of the Ministry building." The wizard taken aback, and he looked to the others with silent questions. "11 Triangle Tunnel." He responded, and then seemed to vanish as quickly as he came. "11 Triangle Tunnel..." The witch repeated, and took off on her broom again, looking at the numbers of houses as she passed. 7...8...9...10...11.
11 should've been a large building at a corner very close to the North Vertex Entrance. However, much to Selena's noticeable surprise, it was not present. A pile of rubble greeted her, blood splattered against stone and parts of it moved so as to try searching for survivors of the destruction. Had the wizards been so lacking in foresight as to give her directions to a place that was destroyed within seconds of their knowledge of its presence? Or had they just tipped her off to some destroyed building as a type of safety precaution despite their previous searches?
"Is this some kind of joke?" The witch said aloud, her dangerous voice reflecting frustration.
