This time, you've gone too far...
A scrape. A thud. A curse, and another scrape. These sounds echoed quite nicely across the room made of stone, located deep beneath those cheery brightly lit and crowded hallways that appeared frequently in the castle that was the location of the school called Firefox University. Or was it the castle that was named Firefox University? Nevermind, for now. The source of these sounds? A fifteen year old boy, named Sparky X Cobalt. The reason for these sounds? Sparky was dragging a heavy cauldron over to the far corner of the room. Why? My, you certainly ask a lot of questions... Well, to put it simply, Sparky had missed his potions lesson. Now, he was going to attempt to make up for it. He'd brew a nice potion and write a nice essay, and hopefully he'd be forgiven. He didn't want to lose Ravenclaw any points, after all. That might make.. her mad or upset! No, he certainly didn't want that.
There was just one problem.
Sparky wasn't any good at potions.
He knew this fact, and knew this fact well. Maybe it was just bad luck, but whenever he tried to brew a potion, it ended up terrible. No matter how closely he followed the directions, it never worked. It was enough to make him want to cry. Today he was going to attempt making a Cheering Solution/Potion/Elixir/Whatever. Yes, a Cheering Whatever. That'd look nice on his essay... He took a mental note to find out the right name of the potion he was going to make and write about, and continued. It'd be fairly simple to brew this up, right? Right. After all, how hard could it be? He'd just follow the instructions very carefully, and keep his mind on the task. Yes... Very simple.
C'mon now...
He now had his own little work area set up. It was a simple area, with a cauldron, a safe area under it for a fire, and a desk that had a nice amount of ingredients on it. He also had a roll of parchment on another desk with the appropriate writing utensil, so he could jot down notes and all that good stuff. Now, he was ready to start. In his hand, he held a book called 'Mood Altering - Potions for the Mind' by a witch called 'Peetra Veenmer'. It was open to section two: 'Cheering the Grumpyful - Cheering Potions'. He read over the list of things he needed to create the potion, everything from equipment to ingredients, for what seemed like the millionth time. He had everything that the book said he needed. He took in a nervous, shaky breath, preparing himself for what he had to do. Attempting to clear his mind, a small thought bubbled up in his mind and fought it's way for attention. No matter how hard he tried to ignore this though, evading it by thinking of potions, it just. wouldn't. go. away. It wasn't even really thought, though... It was a question. What question, you ask? Well stop asking questions! >< But I'll answer it anyways. He was simply wondering where Teagan was.. and what she was doing.. and if she was wondering where he was.. and would she be wondering if he was wondering about her..? He wished she was here... But 'Nope.. She's not thinking of me. I know it.' was the rather depressing thought that he.. well, though. With that in mind, though, Sparky began attempting to brew a Cheering Potion.
Break-break-break-break-break-break my heart...
He found that keeping his mind on the task was near impossible. It seemed to keep wanting to drift over to the comforting though of Teagan, and keeping it away from that particular topic was getting harder and harder as the minutes went by. As he slowly hopped up a root, attempting to make the pieces perfectly shaped, he couldn't help but let a stupid little smile cross over his face as he thought about the brief hug he'd gotten from Teagan in Drakborough, even though it had been a little sad, especially because of her crying. This fact made the small smile smaller, but since he was distracted by the thought of Teagan, he had cut the root into bizarre shapes and had just chucked them in randomly. He sighed, and looked once again at the directions. "Let's see..." He mumbled to himself, and grabbed the leaf of some tree that he'd collected. He stabbed through the thin membrane eight times, and chucked it in as well. He frowned at the potion as he started stirring it, the color turning strangely rainbow mixing around. "Well.. I don't think that's supposed to happen..." He said softly, his brow furrowed. Even when he was focused, he wasn't good at brewing anything, but with his mind on Teagan it was even worse.
C'mon, C'mon, Tear it apart..
He let slip a curse or two as he pulled the stirring utensil out and discovered the tip melted off. That definitely wasn't supposed to happen. There was now half of a large wooden spoon melted into his potion, and the color went from the spinning rainbow mix to a dark, dark black. Suddenly, a mouth formed and it went 'RAWR' at him. Sparky blinked down at the rather disturbing solid form, and whacked it with the melted spoon. It whimpered and sunk back into the potion, as he stirred it with the half melted stick again. He sighed, and said "This isn't going well at all." That much was obvious. Unknown to him, it was getting dark outside of the castle, and soon it'd be unsafe to be running around the halls. Of course, this didn't affect him at all, being a prefect, but he wasn't used to that power anyways. So like yeah. Suddenly, the potion solidified again and spat the melted end of the spoon at Sparky, hitting him in the face. "Ow.." He said, and chucked it back at the potion. Yeah, this really wasn't going well..
Dismantle me, from the inside out.
(ooc: Can only Teagan and/or Tiberius-san post in here, or something? >< I'd appreciate it lots...)
