"Well this is a bit strange," a female voice muttered as the soft click of heels hit the stone floor. I know the common room is here, but this place is so dank the girl mused as she pulled a black woolen trench coat closer to her petite body. She had a feeling that this place was cold, but never had she suspected to see her breath.
Stopping, the barely legal witch looked around the dark corridor. Not a single torch was lit, as they were when she first entered. And to be a bit honest, she was actually becoming slightly afraid. Not of the dark, but what may lurk there. "Lumos," her small voice whispered as the tip of the ash wand glowed.
As soon as she was able to see two feet in front of her face, a small noise distracted her breaking her concentration on the spell. As she walked further, the corridor got colder. With each breath she took, it made her feel like it would be her last.
On the upside, she could hear everything around her better. With one sense gone, the others get stronger. But so was her fear.
"Okay, I know I've passed the common room and the potions class room, but what else is here?" she questioned remaining calm though her heart rate was jacked. One thing she had learned growing up in the Tokyo underground, no matter how fast your adrenaline is pumping, your hand must remain steady.
Stopping once more as she heard the scampering of a rat pass her, she exhaled slowly seeing the white mist form before her.
There is nothing to be afraid of. Except getting your clothes dirty she laughed to herself as she resumed her pace, the clicking of her heels moving in a easy tempo. "Don't stop for anything," she heard her voice whisper.
After a few more minutes, she stopped once more lighting her wand. "There is nothing here," she muttered before looking over her shoulder. "But why do I feel as if I'm being followed or watched?" she asked to no one in particular.
Though she hadn't known many fears, it seemed that being alone in the dark was her biggest.
