There has to be at least ONE book with the location of the Chamber of Secrets in here! These were Tobias' thoughts, as he placed another book on the massive pile next to him. This was day 10 of his research, and still nothing about the location or the password. He let out an exasperated sigh, as he let his head rest on the table. It was almost time to go back to the Common Room, and he may reach his deadline with no results. It was time to rely on unconventional methods.
Tobias put his hands together in prayer. "Oh God...if you can hear me....please help me find and open the Chamber of Secrets...Please....I really need you here, though I am a sinner, and seek redemption...please lord...please..." He was desperate now.bg
The library, a positively brilliant location for potential prey, provided one did not disturb the librarian too much. Even under those circumstances once might turn things to ones own advantage, as a quick enough getaway would leave the opponent in a land of trouble while the prankster got away without so much as a backwards glance.
Now, as Zakum first spotted the student, whom he heard doing what sounded vaguely like praying, he almost left him alone. Almost. After all, what fun was it really to do a repeat performance? You could only prank the same person so many times before things got, for lack of better terminology; dull. Even as such, this particular student was far too great a source of amusement to pass up.
Crouching low behind a bookshelf and watching the student intently through a few missing books, he wondered what might be the most effective means of approach. Now, not that Zakum would ever do anything potentially harmful, but he just so happened to have a few fireworks in his pocket which just might potentially 'slip' into firing positions and 'accidentally' light themselves while pointing at just the right angle.bg
Now, when one goes into total silence, it is much easier to hear footsteps, no matter how soft. Silently Tobias reached for his wand, getting ready to cast Protego if needed. "...I know someone is there. If you're going to try something, go ahead, I dare you. You may not realize this, but you are not Mury's only friend. I really dare you to try something. Infact, I'll let you take the first move." There was a solemn and rather dark tone to his voice. He would not be had a second time.
This had been all too perfect. Roan had been heading down to the library to do some research on her new little pet, well, monster. Most people would see a dragon made entirely out of copper and gold a monster. It had been a few days since Aiden had awoken from that table in the library, the scorch marks still remained, and probably the blood stains, that had spawned him. Since then, the two had bonded greatly. Though he had this prankster's air, he was still protective and listened when things were serious. He was shiny, and about the size of a small cat, perched on the should of Roan with his copper tail wrapped lovingly around her neck while he rested his head on the very edge of her shoulder. It was to her amazement that he had been able to stay up. But he had magic flowing through his veins, wind and fire magic, maybe that had something to do with it.
The girl walked into the library, scanning the area and looking for anyone that would see her dragon. If Aiden was seen, he could be tattled on, and then the poor guy might be destroyed or taken away. But he refused to go anywhere without her. So her hazel eyes looked around the library and deemed the area empty. Good, her black robes swished around her as she sought out the aisle that would contain information on dragons. She needed to learn how to care for him, if he was to eat and be healthy. Aisle after aisle she passed until she swore she heard a voice, and her muscles tensed and her eyes darted. Someone else was in the library, and fortunately for Tobias, it wasnt him she saw. It was that boy who had been so annoying in the dungeons. Zakum.
"You..." She murmered under her breath, seeing the boy crouched behind some bookshelves, and he had to be up to no good. Roan knew that air, she could just tell. Not only that, but there were fireworks in his pocket. Rage welled up in the Hufflepuff's chest as she remembered what an idiot he had been in the dungeons. Well, he would pay for that, she would teach him a lesson. And it wouldnt even be her directly. She smirked and stroked Aiden's nose for a moment. He opened his pitch black eyes, blinking before looking at her face. She motioned for silence and then pointed at Zakum. The dragon loved a good trick, and caught on immidiately. He jumped off her shoulder silently and crept up behind the Slytherin on his two feet, the picture of innocence. When he was behind Zakum, he gave a smirk and then blew a jet of fire at the boy's behind, and making sure he hit the fireworks, which, she hoped would be set off by the fire.
"What are you up to boy?" She whispered just before the fire went off, a grin on her face that matched the one on her dragon's.
As it had been taught to him by Tobias, and perfected in its efficiency by Muryllis himself, the Shadow Corridor was an exceptionally useful plane of existance. With multiple books stacked in an unwieldy tower in his arms, Muryllis decided to take the newly-reworked ability for a 'test spin'; shifting the weight of the enormous volumes to a leg, he managed to free his right hand; he had yet to learn to utilize the Shadow Corridor without the use of free hands. A couple of swirls through normal air quickly transformed into a distorted cloud of deep blue; this engulfed him in a split second, and before he knew it he was standing a few rows away, his books toppling onto a nearby reading desk. Intriguint...
Reorganizing the books in preparation for another carrying, he suddenly heard odd sounds coming from somewhere to his left. Glancing in that direction, he could see, a fair distance away, a couple of sets of robes, along with an odd shiny object accompanying one of the figures. Time to make use of my Shadow's Eye, he pondered, pulling out his wand. The Shadow's Eye, named by himself, was an interesting new (at least to his knowledge) concept of the use of the Shadow Corridor; instead of transporting his entire body to the location, he figured out how to transport the essence of his ability to see, effectively giving him the ability to set up an invincible sentry.
Placing his wand tip to his forehead, he was, this time, not engulfed in a cloud; instead, his head and upper torso became a sort of transleucent image - hidden, of course, by the mass of books he decided to sit behind. The change was intriguing; suddenly, instead of seeing the mass of books aligning the shelves in front of him, he was gazing down from a darker set of books at the top of a bookcase; if someone had managed, with exceptionally superb eyesight, to pick his avatar out from the line of books it was perfectly camouflaged in, they would have seen a tiny dark cloud, out of which poked a single, faint beam of glistening blue light - the shadowy representation of his new field of view. As it was, he could see what he had been aiming to see: the back of the girl who so despised him, but who so intrigued him - Roan. Interestingly enough, there was an even odder image; from what he could deduce, a strange, mobile blob of coppery substance was making its way toward the back of another figure - Zakum, he chuckled - and, event more interestingly, shot a jet of fire at his posterior. Muryllis's blood ran cold as the realization dawned on him - Roan was in possession of a small dragon, and was using it offensively, outside of the dueling hall. Tsk tsk, my dear Roan, he pondered, taking in the glorious scene in front of him. First pulling a prank on a teacher, and now endangering the life of a student.. wait...
He paused, looking farther ahead. There was his bound partner and brother in the Society of Shadows, Tobias, looking both busy and tense, his wand readied against what he seemed to have sensed beforehand. Pulling back his vision and causing the dark cloud to disperse, he tapped House Ravenclaw badge, the piece of metal suddenly turning into the badge of the Society. With another tap, he sent a mental message - the only way he could at the moment - to Tobias: 'Zakum and Roan are behind you - Roan is using a combative dragon whelpling against Zakum - I am hiding some twenty yards away from them behind a table littered with large volumes...' He had sent all the information he could of the situation, and now they had to formulate a plan. Tapping his badge again, he continued, 'back off and allow Roan and Zakum to fight - if anything, Roan is using deadly force, and thus we have the upper hand if staff arrive - see if you can get to me... over' he finished, smirking at his clever and constructive use of Muggle jargon. Tapping his badge again to force it to reform the Ravenclaw badge, he awaited the unfolding of events; hopefully Tobias will have had experience enough to be able to communicate like he did, and brains enough to do so without having the badge seen.
Muryllis' message came clear into Tobias' mind. Making it look as if he was scratching his chest slightly, he began to relay his own message. Roger Mury. I'll try and get over there while making it look...well...innocent, if I can ever be such a thing. Over and out. As quickly as he could, he made himself look normal again. Pushing himself away from the table, he stood and stretched, groaning slightly, before walking past a few rows, in the 'this is so annoying'-esque state of mind.
Striding swiftly over to where Mury said he was, and ducked down to his level. "A dragon? Maybe HE'd like to hear of this...but anyways, I still couldn't find anything on IT." He expained this in a hushed voice, as quickly as he could. It was amazing, an actual dragon made out of copper. What kind of Alchemy would create that kind of creature? And for what purpose?
He had been ignored his targets original warning, for the younger student had already allowed him far to much time in advance to prepare himself. Whether or not Zakum truly had an devious plans in mind, and he most certainly did, he never got the chance to pull them off due to a strange and most unfortunate twist of fate. It was clearly proven that when you least expected, life comes and smacks you upside the head.
Or in this case, lights your rear-end on fire. It took Zakum a full three seconds to notice the smell of smoke, which puzzled him for the slightest of moments due to the fact that he couldn't honestly remember lighting any of the fireworks and even so, it smelled more along the lines of burning fabric that gunpowder. This left him quite puzzled, yet not for long, as the fire had hit his pocket of fireworks in the process.
With a loud yelp of pain from Zakum and an even louder 'BANG' from his pocket, all the fireworks- a full half dozen, went off at the same time. Flying off in every direction, at least one aimed at either Roan and Tobias respectively; Zakum meanwhile had ended up on the floor with his hands over his head, his singed rump still smoking slightly.
The firework came out of nowhere, and hit the Seeker of the Chamber square in the chest, but did not explode. He was lifted off his feet, and flew slightly, before being shot off into a distant bookshelf, which tilted, and dumped its heavy contents onto Tobias. There was nothing visible but a giant pile of books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, spell books, and a crack could be seen in the back of one of the shelves. All that showed that Tobias was in there, was a painful groan, and a "Shit that hurts..."
Roan wasnt shocked when the fireworks exploded, one heading straight for her, she quickly moved to the side but stumbled and ended up with a fate quite like Tobias's. Her back hit a bookshelf, thankfully with not much force as the firework exploded on her chest, scorching her robes. Books toppled down from the top shelf, and several hit Roan on the head, she fell down, and then a few more heavy ones fell on her back. As the Hufflepuff regained herself with a grumble, she realized it had been dictionaries that had fallen on her, and the bruises on the small of her back were going to be interesting to have. The girl's face was livid as she rose up to a standing position, Aiden flying to her shoulder, checking over her head for any bruises or cuts.
"Yes...ow...yes Aiden, there is a bruise there, stop it!" She whispered angrily to the dragon, focusing her sights on Zakum who's behind was steaming and well, looked quite amusing in the position he was in. Roan surpressed a chuckle. "Ouch, that had to hurt. Well, you deserved it. Next time, dont have fireworks in your pocket when there is a Prefect nearby, I like to have my fun with fire. So, I think about 5 points from Slytherin are in order, if not for posessing fireworks, then having the intentions to use them on another student. It seems your plan has backfired sir, literally." She chuckled again and grinned. Taking out her wand she whispered the water spell and held out the wood for quite some time, drenching the Slytherin boy. "Dont let me or Aiden catch you at that again."
At the sound of his name, Aiden flew off her shoulder and stood on the boy's back, and sunk his teeth into Zakum's ear for a good ten seconds, his own little joke, before he began to fly over him shooting bursts of fire at the Slytherin, far out of his reach. Roan on the other hand rubbed the bruises on her back, knowing she would pay for that later, and walked over to where Tobias had fallen. "You ok there?" She asked tenatively, worried that someone had been hurt in their little pranks in the library. Turning her gaze back towards Zakum for a moment, she came up with a punishment. "I would also clean up the library, the librarian wont be too happy about this"
Tobias' reply, was a grunt. What was intended as, "I cant move, I'm trapped," came out as, "Mmmph cmmp mmmve, Mm, trppd!" However, he did manage to shove his hand out of the avalance of books. It was bruised, but not badly. He would be aching greatly in the following morning. He could hear the punishment, and contemplated waiting for Zakum to unbury him. Forunately, that was not necessary, as he managed to shift his weight, and escape his librarical prison.
His hair was ruffled, and looked unkept, and the front of his robes were singed and torn. It would leave an interesting bruise. As he stood, he turned and saw the crack in the shelf, and leaned against it, simply so he could catch his breath. He should have realized that it was not stable, when it caved, and he fell through. More splinters, but something caught his attention. A small, leather-bound book.
Tobias retracted his hand slowly, and found that he was holding a small black book, locked with the personal seal of Salazar Slytherin. His hazel eyes grew wide, as he silently tucked the book into (what was left of) his robes. Perhaps this was what he was looking for. Either God, or Satan like him....probably the latter. How else would he have found the possible key to the Chamber of Secrets.
The chaos that insued caused Muryllis to chuckle, albeit silently. With Zakum lying on the ground with a smoldering posterior, and Roan sharing Tobias's fate in a mass of heavy books, the mirth was quite incredible; 'an ambuscade, once discovered and promptly surrounded, may repay the intended mischief with interest' was the quote, and this event had proven it true. Composing himself after the fit of laughter, he offered an arm to Tobias, pulling him to his feet. Disenchanting his magical silence momentarily, he whispered to Tobias, "you stay here and reorganize yourself; I'll take their flank - we'll watch the events unfold and act accordingly." Noticing that Roan was coming this way, he remembered that he had not yet been seen by the other two. "I was never here," he added hastily, before plunging himself into the Shadow Corridor again and appearing two bookshelves across from Zakum.
Reenchanting his silence, dug himself into a bookless spot in the shelf, hiding himself as he recreated the Shadow's eye, positioning the miniscule cloud such that he could see both Roan and Zakum. It was possible that he would not reveal himself this time, acting only as a ghostly aide to Tobias; either way, the unfolding events would show what would happen.
After Mury's breif explanation, he muttered quietly, "Who was never here?" But that was simply as a minor joke to himself. But he quickly made sure that the book was hidden from anyone else's view, before sending a small telepathic message to Muryllis. I may have struck gold Mury. A small book with Slytherin's personal seal on it. After all this is said and done, we may not have the chamber, but perhaps the next best thing. I'm going to need a quick escape....and I know you are using that Shadow's Eye technique of yours. Clever...over.
Tobias then staggered over to a relatively safe location, before falling into a seat, chuckling slightly seeing Zakum's position. Screwed ten times over by his own fault....that dragon could prove handy...and the same type of dragon scaled into proportion...that would be intimidating. However, now was not the time for this.
