Katana hurried over to the "Potions" section in the Library. She picked out multiple books and looked in the "Table of Contents" Nothing had the potion that she was looking for. She suddenly spotted a book made by the Potions teacher. She opened it and lookedfor the table of contents. Soon, she found it and she saw,
"For Animagi", exactly what she was looking for. She turned to the page and looked at it as she whispered.
"Notes
This potion is not widely used, due to its complex nature and the extensive list of ingredients required, however it is useful for those people wishing to become animagi yet who are unsure which being is most suitable for them to transform into. Of course, some people will not have sufficient skill to be an animagus, thus no animal will appear to them. In this case the steam will turn black. This also happens to children not of sufficient age to tackle advanced transfiguration.
This potion is particularly interesting in that some of its ingredients may be substituted, though the same result will be created. For example, here alternate insect parts have been given.
Ingredients
1 litre infusion of fern spores
1 vial blood of a natural shape shifter such as a lycan, werewolf or boggart
12 black dragon scales
2 mouse whiskers
16g unicorn horn, powdered
1 bird of paradise tail feather
the skin of a small pond-dwelling frog
20g crushed cochineal beetles OR the fangs of one giant bat-eating Venezuelan centipede
6 dragonfly wings
the fins of one coelacanth
the front paws of a star nosed mole
3 tufts belly fur from a tree-dwelling fruit bat
Methods
On a medium heat, combine the fern infusion and the shape shifter blood, simmering gently until boiling. Next add the dragon scales and the mouse whiskers together as one, and stir clockwise for 3 minutes. The potion should now be a glossy silver, and at this point the unicorn horn should be added, 4g once every 4 minutes, being stirred anti-clockwise twice after each addition. Once the potion begins to steam, add both the tail feather, the frog skin and the crushed beetles/centipede fangs. Without stirring, raise the heat, thus, if all has gone well thus far, turning the potion a viscous scarlet and causing it to bubble considerably. After a minute or so, reduce the heat and leave for 11 minutes before adding the dragonfly wings and coelacanth fins. Stir alternately clockwise and anticlockwise once every 20 seconds for 5 minutes, and add the mole paws. The should disintegrate immediately, and the liquid should turn magenta in colour. Add the bat fur. Stir until the potion is bright pink and decant. The potion should then be stopped in a crystal vial and left to mature for 1 week, by which point the liquid within the vial should shift from colour to colour every few seconds. To discover your true animagus form, reheat the potion and add three hairs within an hour of dawn. A shadowy figure will rise in the steam, revealing the shape of your animal form. Of course, as stated above, if the inquirer's inclination is not toward transfiguration, or the inquirer os too young, the steam will simply turn black. this potion is difficult but it's worth a shot."
She then closed the book and ran out of the library, heading for the Potions Classroom
