"Where on earth would a dragon be hiding in a school?!" Charlotte asked in frustration. Already she had checked all the classrooms, outside, by the Great Gates, the hospital wing, the North Tower, everywhere apart from one place. "I can't believe I'm going in here to search for him[/i] the brunette girl sighed. But Roan was in the Hospital Wing, and all she wanted was Professor... no... Headmaster Windwaltz and Aiden, her dragon.
"How did Roan get ahold of a dragon anyways? There was me thinking she was all goody goody," Charl muttered as she pushed open the doors. Instantly, the waft of books met her nose, which crumpled in distaste. Why did books have to smell mouldy all the time?!
Sighing, the Hufflepuff girl put her hands in her pockets and wandered through the rows and rows of books. "I'm gonna have nightmares about these things tonight," she said out loud. But there was only one way that this dragon was going to be found. However a dragon was hiding in the library. Weren't they huge things?
Rolling her eyes, and not believing she was going to do it, Charl began calling out: "Aiden... Aiden... here dragon dragon dragon... come on, Aiden... where are you?"
Sylph had been sitting glumly in the library staring at - but not reading - A Magus' Guide to Practice Evocation Inside were some notes concentrated in select sections of the book, but they had nothing whatsoever to do with the book's contents. Either way, they were irrelevant. Roan had been missing for ages, and Sylph could not find anyone to help, so she had come to the library, quiet and dark, so she could think straight, and possibly formulate a plan. The peace hadn't really helped, for Sylph's mind and heart were racing, and now there was a someone - a very loud and clearly annoyed someone - shoving things out of their way in frustration and muttering under their breath. Sylph had been about to leap up and yell at whoever it was to get back to their common room when she heard a voice saying a single word that made her heart skip a beat in shock.
Aiden.
Who the hell could be looking for Roan's dragon, on this night of all nights? As silent as a cat Sylph sprang up and peered from behind a stack of books. It was a Hufflepuff girl - Lottie, to be more precise, though this new version of Lottie was a lot less friendly than the last one. After a moment of watching the girl search, Sylph stepped out from behind her cover and coughed, announcing her presence in a rather stern manner.
"What exactly are you looking for?" she asked softly but firmly, her dark brows knitted together in a frown and her dazzlingly bright eyes shining in the gloom of the library torches. "And don't lie, either, I'll know if you do." This may not have been the best way to deal with the incredibly irritable Charlotte, but Sylph had no choice. If she had found out about Aiden by accident, this would at least be a test of how much she knew. And if she knew all about him... well, Sylph would know that someone had been gossiping.

Oh great, a Prefect. That was just what she needed right now. Rolling her eyes at the manner in which the purple haired Gryffindor greeted her, Charlotte crossed her arms and leant against a bookshelf with one eyebrow raised. "A friend of a friend," she answered dryly. "I'm just doing a favour as such, though I don't do them every day, I figured I'd better at least try and help out at some point," the Hufflepuff explained, examining her stubby nails while she spoke.
As she carried on, brown eyes snapped back up. "What's it to you anyway, Prefect?" Charl asked, a smirk etched on her face. "It's not even cerfew yet. Not for another half an hour, so you can't even send me back to my dorm. In fact, you can't really do anything, because I'm not doing anything wrong, am I? I was only looking for someone."
Drawing a sigh, the brunette Hufflepuff stood back up straight. "So if you'll excuse me, I have someone to find."
Now it was Sylph's turn to roll her eyes. Lottie used to be such a nice friendly girl, or at least, that's how Sylph had seen her back at MH, constantly hyped up on sugar quills. Now, however, the girl was a complete nightmare. Sylph sighed to herself slightly and turned her head to one side patiently, though patience was the last thing she felt right then. Charlotte's cryptic words did nothing whatsoever to move her, but if she was looking for an Aiden, then Sylph knew where she could find him; the question was, why was she looking for him? Of course, as the Hufflepuff had said, as a favour to someone, but to who? Sylph cocked an eyebrow and a lop-sided but charismatic grin spread slowly on her features - a sign that she was prepared for a fight, even a verbal one.
"Hold it, missy," she said her voice, as always, a little wry, but it was full of authority. "How do you know I can't help you, eh? I just want to know who sent you, is all. If you're looking for who - or what - " Sylph raised her eyebrows in a meaningful look. " - I think you're looking for, you'll understand if I don't disclose much unless you tell me a few more details." Sylph smiled a little wider now, her peridot eyes glinting merrily. If this meant what she thought it meant... could Roan be back, and asking for her dragon? If Aiden's confusing game of charades had been anything to go by - and if Sylph had interpreted it correctly - Roan had been attacked by a very powerful dark wizard in Drakborough. Had she escaped?
"So, Charl," Sylph smiled at the younger girl. "Who sent ya, and who or what is Aiden? Two correct answers and I'll go get him, k? If not... tell me; is it worth paying a trip to the hospital wing?"bg

Charlotte held it and turned back around to face the Gryffindor Prefect who had addressed her again, despite the brunette excusing herself. "Well if you'd asked who had sent me to begin with, then it would have made life a hell of a lot easier, don't you think?" she asked, that smirk returning once again.
"Besides, I wasn't sent. Do you seriously think I'd go if someone ordered me to? I offered to come and find Aiden. And I offered to Roan who then asked me to go and find him." Crossing her arms again, there was a sort of argumentative fire in her eyes.
"Yes, it is worth a trip to the Hospital Wing, for you anyways. Well maybe not even for you if you're going to be like this, but for Aiden, if you know where he is," Charlotte snapped. "Roan's in there at the moment. She almost died and all she wants is Aiden. So, if you do know, then quit beating round the bush, and just tell me, will ya? Because I don't have all day unlike you maybe."
Leaning against the bookshelf and crossing her arms again, her eyebrows rose. "So, what's it gonna be, Prefect? You gonna tell me where he is, or not?"
Sylph's eyes narrowed as Charlotte spoke, letting the girl ramble and snipe as much as her petulant heart desired, but the prefect remained stolidly silent, despite her heart leaping at the news of Roan's return, and subsequently plummiting at the thought of the 'Puff nearly dying. Whatever had happened, Sylph very bad feeling earlier that night had been justified, or so it seemed. And Roan wanted Aiden, so Sylph would bring him to her. The little copper creature was stowed safely up in Gryffindor tower, in Sylph's dorm, being looked over by Dylan with any luck. Sylph made up her mind in a split second.
"Roan also told you to go speak to the headmaster, didn't she?" she said briskly, as if there was no more discussion to be had. "You should go find him, and I'll get Aiden." She paused, her voice trailing of to a mere murmur, as if talking to herself, and went rather pale and sad. "Roan'll want to know what Aiden told me... and why I did nothing..."

ooc: Hehe. No worries! It was nearly 5.30. You're excused ^^
bic: "Hold up!" Charlotte almost shouted. "You knew and you did nothing?! No one did anything?!" However rude and agressive the Hufflepuff appeared to be lately, however much she had changed, she was still mostly loyal to her friends. Perhaps that was the reason why she hadn't often gone astray from the common-room grounding. It was definitely the reason Charl was in the library now.
Narrowing brown eyes locked onto Sylph's suddenly pale face. "If you'd at least TOLD someone, then maybe Roan wouldn't be IN the Hospital Wing right now!" Turning on her heel, the Hufflepuff stormed angrily from the library, muttering: "Stupid, wimpy Gryffindors," under her breath as she did, and slammed the door behind her so hard that some books fell off their shelves.
Charlotte turned in the direction of the Headmaster's office. Not because that stupid Gryffindor had told her to, but because Charlotte had promised to get him, and that was one promise that Charl would not break.
Sylph remained steely faced as Charlotte hurled her words, venhement and stinging, balling her fists at her sides in anger (albeit directed more at herself more than at the Hufflepuff) but saying nothing. Sylph felt she deserved what she got; she knew something had happened to Roan, and she had tried to get help, but when it was dark and there was nobody to be found, that was rather more difficult than she had first imagined. There was no sense in running out of the school late in the evening, even if she knew where the duel between Roan and her apparent captor had been. Still, Charl' was right; it was Sylph's fault that Roan was in her current state, and this plagued the Gryffindor with guilt.
With a final barb - one which made Sylph's rage soar momentarily, for while she knew she deserved that night to be insulted, any slight towards her house made her blood boil and her competative spirit and pride flare - Charlotte was gone, and Sylph was left alone in the dark of the library. Not for long though, for she waited barely a minute - during which she returned her unread book to its proper shelf - before striding purposefully from the room, toward Gryffindor tower. If Roan wanted Aiden, Sylph would bring him to her, along with a very heartfelt apology, and a few questions to boot.bg
