"Ugh! How many books do I need to go through to find one rune?!?"
THUD!
That was the sound of an irate teen's head hitting a solid wood desk. Sitting up and wincing as he did so, Lucius Dante "Dante's Inferno" Infernus looked out the window, two books sitting in front of him. One was smaller than the second, bound in red leather and covered in ancient runes that the teen had little hope of reading. The other book, also open, was half-covered in runes, and half-covered in their translations... Between him and the books was a piece of parchment, a quill and a bottle of ink.

Morgan was in the library too. After all, one could hardly shut one's self up in one's room for an extended period of time and expect not to have make-up work to do. So, on this beautiful Saturday morning, when she'd rather be outside, Morgan was in the library. She had staked out a good table early, since it was so close to finals that a fair-sized crowd was studying today.
Including Lucius.
The Ravenclaw let out a soft gasp when she saw him and ducked behind a shelf as fast as she could manage. What was he doing here? She had a runes test to study for, but he wasn't even in that class. Why was he in the runes section of the library? Whatever he was doing here, seeing him made her feel awful. She hadn't even seen him since Fenrir pinned her against that tree. She should have at least said something to him. What if he hated her now?
That would be terrible. Just terrible.
She peeked back around the corner of the bookcase, to catch another look at him. He seemed very caught up in what he was doing...maybe he wouldn't notice if she walked past him to get the book she needed. She set out, pretending not to see him. She even grabbed a book and pretended to be reading it, so that he couldn't accuse her of ignoring him on purpose. Of course, she was so flustered she didn't even notice she was holding the book upside down...

"Long time no see... My dear..."
There wasn't much that escaped Lucius' cursed gaze... The demon inside him, while asleep at the moment, had affected his sight, giving him great night-vision, along with amazing peripheral vision... It was that same all-round sight that had caught a glance of his erstwhile love... He couldn't remember much from when he had shouted at Fenrir to let her go in the forest until some time later... It was like there was an entire blank-spot in his memory, like it wasn't even there... He had devoted so much time to catching up on his school work and his "private" research, that he hadn't seen his friends or Morgan for more than a few weeks...
"You know, that book is up-side down..."
He re-capped the open ink bottle on the desk before standing up... He needed to talk to her, the blank spot in his memory was troubling him, but not nearly as much as the fact he hadn't spoken to her for a long time...
"Can we... Talk please?"
Biting his lower lip, Lucius waited her response with a face that betrayed no hint as to how eager he was to talk to her...

'Hesawme!Hesawme! HESAWME! WHATDOIDO!?' Morgan's grip on the book tightened as Lucius spoke to her. What should she say? What should she do? Should she start with an apology? Or maybe she could still pretend that she didn't see him...yeah, that might work.
Except, her book was upside down. She could hardly feign reading an upside down volume. Not to mention that she'd stopped walking when she heard his voice. She should have kept moving. She winced, the book still covering her face. She was so dumb.
She forced herself to calm down, and then she let the book drop. She faked a smile. "Oh. Er...hi? I, uh, I was just lo-" She was stopped in her nervous, halting words. He wanted to talk? Was 'can we talk' similar to 'we need to talk'? Was he going to break up with her?
Well, it wasn't like she didn't deserve it. She had done it again. When would she learn? Whenever something bad happened, she tried to run away from it. She withdrew into herself and let the bad feelings fester. She needed to learn to let other people help her. At least, this time she hadn't shut out her familiars. Mon and Dora had kept telling her to find Lucius, but Morgan hadn't wanted to listen.
Well, here he was. She'd been kind of hoping to avoid him until summer break. Then she could go back to Wales for a few months. Even the Spain house seemed too close to the school. She was running away again. She'd even considered a transfer, but her parents wouldn't hear of it. 'You were the one who just had to go to school in Spain in the first place.' and 'You only have another year left. It doesn't make sense for you to transfer now.' were their responses.
So, she was stuck. Her false cheerfulness subsided. "Y-yeah, we can talk. No problem." At least she'd recently showered, and her clothes matched today. Even if she were wearing her oldest jeans and no make up. "What did you want to talk about?" Her nervousness was evident in her tone.7.0

"It's about... What happened in the forest... And some other things besides..."
Well... How should he word this? Somehow "I have a big gap in my memory from when I yelled at Fenrir until a few hours later, can you please tell me what had happened so I will know if I did something stupid?" didn't seem very fitting or tactful...
"I... I can't remember what happened in the forest... Not anything between when I yelled at Fenrir, until I found myself back here... But that's not what I wanted to talk about... I..."
He paused for breath... He made a mental check on the demon during that pause... It was still asleep, which was good...
"I... Want to know if you're okay... I can't remember if I asked you that, and I've been devoting so much time to school and a "private" study, that I haven't even had chance to think about it..."
That was true enough... If there was one thing he lacked over his demon, it was control... So he was desperately trying to decipher his book... Just so he could learn the ritual to learn the demon's true name, so someone he trusted could help him out...
"I have a very... Big and evil problem, that it's time you need to be aware of... My fire-manipulation powers are down to being the forced host of a fire-demon... One that has sworn to hurt the one closest to me if I try to rid the world of it..."
He swallowed... Things were going downwards now, and it was crunch-time...
"It swore to... To hurt... You... I'll..."
He looked away, unable to keep her gaze... He wasn't sure if it was out of fear, self-pity, or something else...
"I'll understand if you want to end our relationship because of it... But I want you to know that I'll never stop loving you or caring about you... It's because of that, that I've tried so hard to find out a way to learn the demon's true name... That would give me control over it, and stop it from hurting anyone unless I wanted it to happen..."
He hurriedly grabbed the red book and the piece of parchment from the desk and held them out to her...
"This book holds the key, but I can't read it... I've been trying to translate it all year, but only the last few weeks have seen it take up more of my attention... I'd like you to keep it safe for me... Please?"

Oh. Was that all? He only wanted to tell her about the demon that possesed him. And here she was, afraid it might be something serious. She was so grateful to know he wasn't breaking up with her, that she let out a breath she hadn't known she was holding. She let him finish what he was saying before she spoke again. It was obvious that this was a big deal for him.
"Lucius...I love you, you know that. I couldn't just desert you now. Even if I wanted to. I'll help you, anyway I can."

"Thank you... It's all I can ever ask of anyone..."
Blushing slightly, Lucius held the book and parchment out.
"This is the book, and all my translations so far..."
He looked away again... It seemed like he couldn't meet her gaze without being embarrassed at the moment... Again, he checked the demon... He almost missed the glimmer of malign intelligence that showed it was awake...
Oh... I can't believe I fell for the oldest trick on the book...
Like a rank amateur hume-boy...
The demon didn't give any warning, it projected itself again, just like it had done that night against the Black Forest Church...
"We meet face-to-face properly hume-girl... I look forwards to seeing you write in agony when my host attempts to send me to hell and I make good on my promise..."[/b]
With a bout of manicial laughter, the demon faded into the air again... Which forced the teen hosting the demon inside himself to look at the floor, too ashamed by his own foolishness of believing the demon to really be asleep during the whole meeting to even look up at Morgan.
"... I'm sorry... I'm sorry you had to hear his threat yourself... This is why I've been putting this book before my friends and my social life..."

Morgan was smiling as she accepted the book and Lucius's translations. Not an eager, cheerful smile, like the one you'd wear if you were having a lot of fun. Rather, her smile was a content, peaceful sort of thing. She was happy Lucius trusted her with something of this magnitude. His show of faith in her made her faith in him climb. Maybe this really could work out after all. She really did love Lucius.
She wasn't even unduly alarmed when the Demon appeared before her. Of course, she wasn't expecting it, and it did catch her a little off-guard, but she wasn't afraid of him. Even as he was threatening her, she was not afraid of the Hell-Spawn. She leveled her gaze at him, refusing to be the tiniest bit intimidated. "We'll just see about that." she muttered under her breath at him.
When he faded, and Morgan saw Lucius looking down at the floor, she was again flooded with affection for him. "It's alright. I understand perfectly," she said while wrapping her slender arms around him. "We'll do this together. And I won't let anything happen to you. No matter what he says."

"... That's my line..."
Despite his feeling of self-pity, Lucius chuckled slightly and looked up... It would seem like he finally had an ally in his quest to at least learn the true name of the demon inside him, and maybe even banish it later... Being alone was something he had been used to for most of his life, but at least he had someone who cared as much for him as he cared for them...
"You know... I've missed you so much..."
That said, Lucius put his arm around Morgan and smiled softly... Sure, each of them had a problem to deal with, be it demonic or something else, but both of them had one thing they could each rely on to help them; Each other.... Well, at the very least, Morgan could rely on the fire-hair coloured-teen to help her out in anything she needed,... No matter what it was, or what the cost, he would never stop doing what he could to help her with anything unless she told him otherwise.

"I missed you too," said Morgan. She luxuriated in his warm embrace. She really had missed him more than she had known. She was glad that he could trust her, and that made her trust him. She had never known that relying on someone else could feel so good. She had believed that relying on anyone else would be proof of her own weakness.
She decided that it was time to tell him about Asher, and how deep the bond with her familiars really ran. Trouble was she didn't know where to begin. There was a silence between them for a moment as Morgan collected her thoughts. "Lucius, there's something I have to tell you. I know you might think it odd that I held a funeral for my rabbit. However, Asher was not just a pet rabbit, he was my familiar. At least, he was one of them. Familiars are animals that share their soul with a witch or wizard. Every member of my family gains a familiar on their fourteenth birthday."
She wasn't sure how much he really needed to know. She was sure that if she went into too much detail she might bore him. Besides, Morticia might get angry if she thought her daughter was spilling family secrets. Lucius meant more to her than her mother ever had. However, Morgan was traditionally minded, and naturally loath to reveal magical secrets to her boyfriend. (at least she was now, even if she hadn't been in her past)
"Asher, Dora, and Mondleid are mine. Mondleid was my first. The others followed after. I have been working with them for a very long time. Dora and Mondleid are as much grieved by Asher's death as I am." It really did feel good to have his arms around her. She would remember this, and hopefully remember to rely on others in the future.

"I don't know much about familiars, but I do know that because they are a part of you, it's like you lost a member of your family, or even a piece of your soul..."
Still standing there, with her in his arms, the teen smiled down at her... Being able to trust Morgan was something he could take pride in... Considering he trusted only his friends, and even then, it took some time to earn that trust properly. Morgan had such a high position there, givent hat in his opinion, those in love shouldn't really hide much from each other... Except maybe, dirty or embarrassing secrets...
"If I was in your shoes, I would be as sad as you are... It's not everyone that has a constant companion that shares your soul... Some get better choices of companions than others I guess... And we both know who got the short straw on that one huh?"
That last part being a joke aimed at himself, Lucius didn't stop smiling... He never felt more at ease than when he was with Morgan, and that was something he never wanted to lose...

Morgan felt better. Just being around Lucius made all the tension and grief go away. However, he was right, he really had gotten the short end of the stick when it came to sharing souls. She had no idea what it would be like to have to share her soul with a demon instead of with her familiars. Poor Lucius. To have such a malignant spirit inside you, rather than the warm support and love she felt from her animals. Still, she supposed that's where she came in. After all, it was her privilege to support and love such a wonderful person as Lucius.
"Ha ha," she said sarcastically, "very funny." She broke the embrace, and drew the book close to her heart. "At least you have me. I'm acing Ancient Runes. I'll have this translated in no time." The levity left her features. Her amber eyes locked on Lucius's heterochromatic orbs. "We will get rid of him. I promise you that."

"I have my moments of wit. Stupid wit sometimes, but wit it is."
Chuckling slightly, he smiled more brightly at Morgan. Sure, his joke was a bit of fact, he DID have the short end of the stick with his demonic "friend", but it was probably going to be lonely in there without it... Still staring into the Ravenclaw's eyes, he thought for a moment...
"As much as I want him gone, I don't think I'm willing to just let him go easily... I know of a way to tame him, but I can't do that by myself... All I need is a way to learn the demon's true name and he's mine to control as I will... After all, he could come in handy one day... You know, if we need t light a torch, or start a fire?"
Okay, those mundane uses were a bit of a joke, but he did have a point... The fire demon could be put to good use, rather than destroying things, IF the teen had complete control over it's power... Without that, the demon could run rampant like it usually tried to. It had only been the teen's strong will to protect his friends and loved one that had stopped it taking over more often.

Was he serious? He wanted to keep that...thing? Morgan pulled away from him. "Lucius, that thing is evil. He must be destroyed. Even if we could somehow control him, he is simply too evil to be allowed to exist. Don't you understand what he represents? He is a follower of Lucifer; cast out of Heaven to bring more souls to Hell with him. And you would rather keep him around than cast him out and rid the world of him forever?" She kept her voice low, but it issued out frantically.
Her amber eyes were wide. She reached into her bag, pulling out a simple silver cross on a chain. "I know religion isn't really your thing, but I would feel better if you had one of these." Her eyes pleaded with him, supplying the words her voice couldn't. She pressed the cross into his hand. He had to know how religious she was. How religious her whole family was. After all, she was descended from King Arthur himself. A king who had a vision of God. A king who searched for the Holy Grail. "Please."

"I'm more than aware of his status as a figure of evil... But if he can be controlled, he'll be forced to do good..."
Sighing, Lucius touched his chest, just over his heart to be exact.
"It'll get a bit empty in here... Even though I want him around, I'm not keeping him inside me. Too risky..."
As Morgan brought out the silver cross, the teen accepted it with a nod.
"God may have forsaken me when he let that cult bind that demon to me, but maybe there is some hope..."
Then, the silver of the cross gave him an idea...
"I know the perfect place to keep the demon where he can't hurt anyone unless I choose for him to; My dagger... Silver, enchanted, and the perfect place to store a monster... Though I doubt he truly is from hell as most people would know it..."
Those were some personal doubt of his... The demon may of had representations of any Christian demon; cloven hooves and horns, but it's body... The style of it didn't seem quite right... Besides "Hell" was too broad a term for all demons, maybe... Babylonian? Incan? Aztec? It could be any mythology or religion... So finding it's name would be a great help...
