((Obviously, this takes place after the thread in Talon's office, but since your status has already been changed, I'm certain this is a safe bet.))
Winter was a miserable season. The cold, the snow, the frost, the chilly, biting winds. All of it. Even Christmas wasn't much to look forward to, the school would be mostly deserted, and the students who chose to remain, would doubtless be either mired in their own projects here, or else be so miserable not to be home for the holidays, that there would be little of the much famed 'Holiday cheer', the kelpie had heard about.
This would be the second winter season he'd spent in human form. Although, unlike the first, he'd not be spending it alone in the ruins of Diadem. Everyday, he resisted the temptation to sleep in his usual hibernation, and now, with the holidays drawing near, and a genuine excuse to be gone, he daren't even entertain the thought. If he hibernated as usual, he might not wake up in time for the start of the second term.
He was lucky in the fact that he had Ravenwood Tower largely to himself, as he rarely saw the Divination teacher, Orifiel. In fact, he had been allowing his glamour to drop for periods of time, since it was so much work to keep it going all hours of the day and night. Particularly in his classroom, which had a plentiful supply of iron, which made him sick.
In any case, He was out getting fresh air now, on the covered bridge that spanned from the Tower to the castle proper. He had his disguise up, in case anyone should happen along, but he was nearly asleep standing up. He'd have to chat with the potions mistress later, to see if she couldn't help him.
