OOC: one and all are most welcome to join
It had been a while since Sylph had been granted some time to herself, in peace. For the first few weeks of term she had been bombarded with a barrage of applications, sorting those students who had joined the year late for whatever reasons, pouring over her lesson plans, grading papers, organising staff meetings... the list was endless. Paperwork took time, too, even in the magical world. The shop in Drakborough had also been a bit of a headache for her; deputy head teacher and store manager stroke zoo keeper were not two jobs that went together very well. Alright, so she had been able to raid Chang's for a couple of magical creatures to show to her class, but the demands on her time were all too much. Now she had hired some competent help though, the violet haired witch could afford to relax every once in a while.
So it was then that on a stark and starlit night Sylph had found herself climbing the long and circular staircase that led to the highest tower in the school, her long and lanky legs making light work of a journey which most would find arduous. The astronomy tower was coldly lit by tiny pinpricks of white light, the frail stars barely permeating the perfectly polished glass dome that composed the roof. The tall frame of the deputy headmistress halted at the head of the stair, her face tilted back to accept the glorious sight that awaited her. Really, you never got skies this clear back in England. Here in the mountainous pathways of Spain though, there was more space given over to stars than to the inky sky itself. Sylph loved it.
But something wasn't quite right. There was no air on her face here; the transparent ceiling barred the wind from reaching her. With the faintest of sighs, one which belied no particular emotion, the purple haired professor reached for her wand and pointed it straight upward and with a murmured word the roof was gone and the space was filled with a gentle but cool breeze. Immediately Sylph's long, wild hair began to waft back over her shoulder as she turned to face the breeze, rolling and rising like the sea. Slowly her brilliant emerald eyes opened, and a faint smile appeared on her rosy cheeked face. Another sigh, deeper this time and full of satisfaction, as one who had taken a heady drought of rich red wine. The smile grew wider, and she breathed the air deep, cleansing her lungs. And yet something still remained off. Ah yes. Music.
That was the annoying thing about working in a school for wizardry; any electronic equipment went completely haywire from all the magic in the air, and this in turn meant that Sylph couldn't listen to music. It was what she needed, really, just a few songs to chill out to, to sing along to in her low voice as she lay there, solitary under the stars. Mind you, the astronomy tower was very high, far above the actual school, and this place rarely saw a great deal of spell-work. Except when it had been wrecked, of course. Sylph afforded herself a small smirk as she thought of this and the man that had caused it. It was worth a try, though.
Raising her wand once again, The green eyed witch performed a summoning spell, and within a moment a small, battery powered CD player zoomed through the open roof. Snatching it easily from the air, Sylph popped it open and found that a disc was already in there. Stooping to place it on the floor, she hit the play button. Nothing. Not a sound. Sighing for the third time, Sylph's booted foot kicked the device away to one side and then, gently due to the coldness of the stone floor, lay down on the floor, her elbows pointed outward and her hands behind her head. Her jean clad legs crossed at the ankles, her dragon hide boots glinting in the starlight, and she stared up at the sky, happy and relaxed for the first time in what seemed like an age. To complete the picture, she began to hum to herself, her voice not tuneful but pleasantly low and bluesy. Nothing could disrupt this peace she felt. Nothing.

Hustle, bustle and so much muscle
Cells about to separate
And I find it hard to concentrate and
Temporary this cash and carry
I'm stepping up to indicate
The time has come to deviate and
All I want is for you to be happy and
Take this moment to make you my family and
Finally you have found something perfect and
Finally you have found...
