His breath caught in his throat as his legs fumbled their own way up the steps of the tall Ravenwood Tower. It was almost as if they had their own mind, as heaven knew where the hell Sparky's was. In fact, at the moment, his eyes weren't even open. His breathing was erratic and jumpy, even though his pace was not -that- fast.
Eventually, stumbling once or twice, Sparky burst out and found himself stumbling upon a scene familiar yet distant at the same time.
Perhaps it was the height of the tower, but the grounds around him looked almost foreign to him as he stared down. It was somewhat unnerving, and that was, quite possibly, the very last thing he needed at the moment.
Closing his eyes and taking deep breaths, he stepped back. He tilted his head up, and opened his eyes once more. He stared up into that deep, calming blue of the sky above, and for the first time that entire day he felt at peace.
Finally, his breath slowed, and his pulse rocked itself back down to a normal speed. Nearly comatose, his eyes stared up, brown melting through blue as if seeking some sort of answer beyond the color spectrum.
It was like magic, the clouds melting and melding and parting above everyone, enjoying their own game of tag... or was it hide and seek? There weren't many hiding places in the sky...
As if something was controlling them, so high in the sky.
Dipping their fingers into the milky white mist in their cereal bowl.
Finally, Sparky's eyes dropped back to the railing, and the near-unrecognizable lands beyond it. He stepped forward once again, and his hands clutched the bar as if desperate for something to cling to.
Slowly his upper body tilted itself over the rail, staring wordlessly at the ground below him. Mildly a thought chased itself through the prairie of his mind, ducking through a gopher hole and feeling for a snack.
'Well?'
Sparky closed his eyes and leaned further, his legs now dangerously close to simply lurching him off the side and onto the ground where they apparently belonged.
Taking another deep breath, Sparky pulled himself back. No use for such things at a time like this. What was the point? Nothing would change.
Sparky quietly and absentmindedly stretched his arms as his eyes found themselves wandering up to the sky again.
Slowly a hand raised itself and his fingertips found their ways to a spot on his head slightly above the ear. He couldn't remember why he was at the top of the tower.
He couldn't remember why he was really at school, anymore.
Almost as a reflex to thought, his lip protested as he slowly began to gnaw on it as his mind spiraled around himself, the moon to his Jupiter. Or maybe Saturn was more appropriate...
Slowly, he blinked.
If only he could fly like a cloud... and disappear, too.

I'm here, hello. Dreaming without you.

Don't let go.

Pack your bags. Let's run away.
