Kitty Aurastone waited outside the office of the Headmaster, Talon Windwaltz, with her silver tabby cat resting on her lap. Her expression was as apathetic as always, but she had something on her mind. She had consulted her runes, and through her own method of divination she had come to the conclusion that her aunt would not be alive much longer. The woman was getting on in years, and her health had been getting poorer, so the news did not surprise the young witch. However, this meant that arrangements needed to be made, and she would need to find a new legal guardian. Kitty assumed the Headmaster would know what to do.
She did not fidget, nor did she glance at the clock to see how much time had passed. The Headmaster was a busy man, and no doubt had more important things to attend to than the family troubles of a first year. Thus Kitty sat patiently, her hand idly stroking her Talon's silver and black striped coat. Her icy blue eyes were open, but she didn't seem to be looking at anything, just staring through the world like she always did. She could hear voices in the next room, although the thick stone walls prevented her from hearing actual words. She didn't mind all that much, and sat like a doll on a shelf, the only movement being the hand that stroked the cat.
When the door finally opened she turned her head towards it, watching the previous appointment's departure. Only once they had cleared the space beyond the threshold did she rise, taking the cat into her arms and walking to the doorway. Here she paused, awaiting the summons to be allowed to enter the chambers.
