Even though Shane seemed very dismissive about her concerns, she couldn't help but worry about the wound. It had been bleeding a significant amount, and she was quite sure that ignoring it for now wasn't the best course of action. However, Shane was a grown man and capable of making his own decisions. It wasn't really Marina's place to question his judgment. Aside from that, she really did want to know more about these books as soon as possible, and while it wouldn't have been much of a delay, it would've been a delay nonetheless.
Nina bent to pick up the momentarily forgotten book from the floor, where she'd left it when she pried the book off of Shane's hands. She hoped he wouldn't be upset by this momentary oversight, but she hadn't a better place to put it and the floors here were very clean anyway. She cradled the volume carefully in the crook of her arm, glancing about for a moment to make sure she hadn't forgotten anything.
"Yes, I think that's all," she said aloud, more to herself than anyone else. She looked at Shane and smiled wanly. She was ready to leave.
She walked the distance between the library and Talon's office with ease, her strides very long for her short frame. She made sure not to get very far ahead of Shane, but she still arrived at at entrance first. In reality, Marina had never been in here before, so she had no idea how to get past the Ruby Phoenix. She tapped it a few times, and even pointed her wand at it, but it seemed to merely be a statue. She paused and waited for Shane, hoping he, unlike herself, knew the way past what seemed to be so simple a defense.
