Carrie was meant to be on shift, sure, but she had called in a trainee healer friend from Mungos to watch the school's hospital wing for a few minutes while she went to one place in the long corridors of Firefox she had never been before. Talon's Office.
Her hair tied back in a very loose bun, brown eyes were glazed with a sort of confusion. Her hands were in her unbuttoned white coat pockets, the hems swishing around her knees gently as identically coloured plimsols padded against the floor. "I don't understand how she managed to get the job," Carrie muttered, approaching the door.
The subject of this discussion with the Headmaster? The appointment of Nurse Joy and her partner in pain, Chansey.
Knocking on the door, the brunette nurse awaited an answer. Hopefully she could get in, out and back without the new nurse noticing.

Talon sat back in his chair, finishing a bit of paperwork. It turned out some of the local people in Drakborough didn't agree with the way the Dueling Tournament was going to be performed. Talon would've usually ignored them - how many Drakborough citizens were gonna take part in the school's tournament, anyhow - but for Azrael's letter too. He apparently didn't like it either.
And considering the Unbreakable Oath he had with the man, yes, that still counted.
So that meant he had to go all the way back to the beginning on it, even if he already had the damn brackets made up. Why couldn't people file these things earlier on in the process instead of waiting until the last moment? He supposed, being one to run around half the world and come back in an epic flare, he wasn't one to talk, but it didn't make him any better off.
"Yes!?" He said, sounding rather irritated at first, but then coughed and spoke calmer this time but still at enough of a volume to be heard beyond the Phoenix. "Yes, come in."
Carrie stood impatiently at the door and her brows rose sharply at the irritated greeting that came from behind the door. Charming. She'd at least had the courtesy to say she was coming and then got greeted with that?
Though at the second try, the brunette nurse nodded. Much better. Opening the door, brown eyes first looked up and down the corridor for any sign of Joy or that damned Chansey. Nothing. Thank goodness. Closing the door softly behind her, Carrie turned and gave a small smile at the Headmaster. How on earth was she going to go through all this? Small talk to begin with maybe, or just get straight into it?
Straight into it. He sounded aggitated enough.
"Headmaster," she smiled in greeting, staying standing for the timebeing. "You've been keeping well I assume? Not seen you down in the Wing for a long time." It was true, the medical staff were mostly allowed to keep themselves to themselves, and deal with their area as it came along. But this had to be taken higher.
Running a hand through her hair, she simply got to the point, brown eyes meeting blue, Carrie asked: "What's going on Headmaster? What did she do to get the job? Blatently lie in her interview? She's not school nurse material... I'm just here to find out what the thinking behind hiring her was."

"Yes, Carrie, thanks for asking," Talon said in response to her statement about him not being in the Wing lately. "Then again luckily there hasn't been any need for injury, no mass Dark Wizard attacks, or Vampire uprisings, or the like...I'm pleased, as it's given me time to try other things in my freetime...I wonder how long it's going to last."
At this he quickly hid the witch novel he had been reading for the past week under his desk.
But the next statement was quick and rather confusing to Talon. She? A school nurse who got the job. Why the only other nurses Firefox had hired to his knowledge were Kasey and herself...unless she meant Ashelle? "Now I know she's rather inexperienced Carrie but she means well, and though her methods are rather unorthodox, I've found they've always come out on top."
"Unorthodox?" Carrie repeated, her eyes widening considerably. "Unorthadox?" Had he actually even met this nurse? Did he know who he'd hired? "Headmaster," the brunette laughed, placing a losse hand on her hip, "threatening a student with a saw unless he told her what she wanted to know is not unorthadox. It's... it's not even humane!"
Shaking her head, she moved to fold her arms. "She's accused Kasey and I of... of being on drugs while we're on duty. She has a torturous assistant. She asked which.. which method of torture we preferred to get students to get better quickly!" Carrie couldn't help but laugh in astonishment. This was daft. Absolutely daft.
Looking back at him, Carrie spoke again. "Headmaster, I can't work with her on that Wing. It won't bode well for the school at all, students will be terrified. It's a risk, Sir. A huge risk."

"Threatening a student with a saw?" Talon said, a look of complete and utter disbelief on his face. Images of the Ashelle Rainier he knew, the sweet red-head Gryffindor with a tangent of doing the greater good, dressed in black leather swiping at patients with a chainsaw was more than he could deal with. Where did she ever get these ideas?
He shook his head and tsked, "Now now Carrie I know she might be a bit confusing and sometimes even a bit overanxious but that doesn't mean you should come in here accusing her of terrifying students. I had her treat me myself when I was in the gravest of conditions and I turned out fine.
"Accusing you and Kasey of being on drugs..." He muttered to himself, a chuckle coming out as he tapped at his desk. "Is the only reason you've come today to complain and make up stories about Miss Rainier?"
"Miss Ra--Ashelle?" Carrie asked, blinking in confusion. "No, no.. Headmaster... I--" she stuttered. Did he have no idea she was even here? Did that mean they could just tell her to pack her bags and go? "Not.. Not Ashelle, no, Sir.." she continued, trying to figure out exactly where she had begun talking about Ash. She was a lovely girl, really, and a massive help in the Wing.
In all the confusion, Carrie had stuck her hands back in her pocket and begun fiddling with the lollipop she had put in there for a sugar helping following this meeting. At that moment, it looked like she should have put in two.
"I wasn't on about Ashelle, Headmaster.." she explained eventually, still trying to piece it all together. "I was talking about the new nurse. Joy."

The awkward silence that followed made Talon even more confused than he already was. Carrie seemed incredibly embarrassed that the Headmaster had thought that she was speaking about the assistant Nurse who had done a great deal of service to the school.
But in the end it came to the real topic of discussion: 'Joy'. A new nurse, supposedly. A new Nurse who Talon had no idea about.
"Who?" Talon said as normal as possible, trying to hide his utter confusion.
Aha! That was it! He had no idea. She'd just turned up out of the blue and said she was a nurse. Why hadn't it clicked before? There was no way anyone would have hired that woman as a nurse of a school. Not someone with such an agressive bedside manner and a sadistic assistant.
"Nurse Joy, Headmaster. She showed up just a few days ago as the new nurse on the wing. I thought you'd interviewed her, because Kasey and I had no idea she was coming... but apparetly you didn't..." Trying to get her head around the whole situation, it wasn't overly long before the brunette gave up on the attempt.
Shaking her head, brown eyes suddenly brightened, Carrie simply asked: "Shall I get her to pack her bags, Sir?"

"Hum," was the only thing close to a response the Headmaster had to give to Carrie. The young man leaned back in his leather chair, seeming to relax for a moment taking little view of the other person as he looked up at his ceiling. He definitely hadn't interviewed any nurse named Joy, but it wasn't likely that anyone could've ever just walked in and called themselves a Nurse, especially if they meant any harm.
People here were too sensitive to the Dark Arts to do that.
A few moments passed in which he thought this over. He would occassionally steal glances to Carrie, and then to his paperwork, and then to his office. He kept his lips firmly shut with a hand over his mouth, his eyes flitting around in a strange, 'thinking' pose. Then finally he took his hand off his mouth and slapped his head. "Of course." He reached his hand down to a drawer that looked rather neglected in his desk, and flitted through a bunch of files until he finally came to a folder in the very back.
He pulled it out and thwacked it onto his desk, releasing a whole bunch of dust. Written on it in Talon's handwriting were the words 'Fiona's Stuff'. He pulled his wand from his robe pointed it at the folder, uttering Joy's name. A document jumped out from the papers within and landed in front of him. He lifted it up and began to read.
"Yes, yes...just as I thought..." He put the paper down again. "Alright Carrie. It is my duty as Headmaster to inspect this Nurse who was appointed outside of my time running the school. If you would kindly escort me down to the Hospital Wing?"
Carrie's face almost dropped. So she couldn't just tell her to pack her bags and leave? Did the Headmaster not trust her judgement? What if Joy managed to wriggle her way out of this one and got away with it? She'd know exactly what Carrie had done, and then... Oh gods - work was going to be a nightmare.
Eventually, though, Carrie simply nodded. "Of course, Headmaster," she replied quietly, turning around the open the door and let him through. This wasn't going to go at all how Carrie wanted it to. Not in the slightest.
