Ryo greeted the large bird statue that guarded the headmaster's office. The statue let him in. He mentally thanked the headmaster for making it such an easy matter to see him.
He stepped into the office and started in a rather uncomfortable manner, "Umm, Windwaltz. I hope you don't mind but I have a question."

Talon turned in his chair, peering over the desk at the little fox-boy who had greeted him not so many months ago. Or was it many months ago? The days and weeks and years just seemed to blend as time went on. There were times where Talon still felt fifteen and in school, and other times where he felt he was not quite sixty and ready for retirement.
Regardless, the Headmaster disregarded the lack of title before his last name - usually the universal sign of disrespect - and simply took it as a point of shyness. After all, considering the boy had come to him quite distressed the last time, it would make sense that he lacked some confidence. Talon smiled, "Never. Tell me, what's the problem?"

The fox boy looked down at the ground shyly. He somewhat wondered if his lack of a title was considered rude but pushed the thought aside.
Ryo gave the headmaster a nervous smile, "Well before I tell you I'll let you know I blame Phugs. Well, he kept going on and on about elementalism. I'm not going to pester you and ask to become one because I know everyone and their mother asks you. I would just like to know a bit more about it. Maybe the theory?"

The Headmaster's smile waned a bit, but ultimately returned. Talon admired this Phugsius's courage and ambition, but he was beginning to test his patience. Yes, he'd received the note regarding Elementalism, but it only left Talon concerned. Every wizard and witch in the wizarding world knew about Talon Windwaltz and his mysterious powers, and Firefox University and the Elementalists who lived there, but -
A twelve year old boy who was obsessed with the concept? Even to the point where he talked to his friends about it?
"I assure you," Talon said to the boy, "elementalism is not magic. If it were, then we would have a class on it. In fact, with magic, elementalism might seem trivial. After all, any wizard skilled in charms can summon an inferno, or make an earthquake, or make the winds blow, or create a wave. Elementalism...is something else entirely. It is not, however, magic. It is, rather, a way of life - one that can be followed by people who can never perform magic, one that cannot be suppressed by Lycanthropy, and one that, fortunately for some and unfortunately for others, cannot even be extinguished by death."
After stating this, Talon's voice seemed to grow more serious, "and it is also a way of life that results in countless sacrifices. Many who try desperately to become one often think of the power and respect that previous Elementalists had, and, yes, I will not lie - every single Elementalist has been great in some form or another. But when you've taken that step forward into that way of life, it's too late to go back.
"And that is why," Talon concluded, his smile returning to his face and his voice growing much more comforting again, "I don't make the mistake of leading people into that life without a very good reason."

Ryo bowed respectfully, "Thank you Headmaster Windwaltz. I will admit that this ha sadly left me with more questions than answers but I will take that as a sign to drop the idea. Now if only I can get Phugs to do the same...."
The boy's thoughts trailed off as he left the office with a parting bow. A way of life? Not magic? Somehow he felt his friend would be way in over his head. The phrase countless sacrifices was enough to make him leave it alone. He had already lost so much in Japan, it was largely the reason he was here.

(OOC: Excuse me, can someone point me to the thread where I IC tell Ryo, or someone else tells Ryo, i'm obsessed with elementalism? I don't wanna be "that guy", but I don't have any recollection of telling Ryo I wanted to be an elementalist. I could have easily forgotten though. I mean if it didn't happen it's whatever. But for my own sanity, can I read this thread?)
