The wind whipped around Arthur Wyndham as he trudged up the long driveway to Firefox University Castle. It had been a few hours since the man's arrival to the magical town of Drakborough, and the sky was no less gray as the second he unexpectedly Apparated into the town. He had gone, as was any sane man's nature, to the town's tavern for a drink and a bit of useful information. What he had left with was a plan, quite a brilliant plan even if he did say so himself.
He had only started drinking his mead when a bright poster caught his attention. It announced the enrollment of Firefox University conveniently located just outside of Drakborough. The poster went on to rave about the school's high educational standards and amenities and other things he didn't pay particular attention to. However, in tiny, inscrutable writing near the bottom left corner of the paper were two very important words: Teachers Needed.
It was unbelieveably perfect. Lady Fortune was apparently happy with him again. Either that or she was truly contrite over what she had done to him in the week prior. He had ripped the poster off the wall, thrown a few sickles on the bar counter, and made his way up to the castle.
It was where he stood now, just outside of the large doors leading into the school. Pushing them open, he stepped into an empty Entrance Hall, which was expected as it was still summer. He looked around the chamber seeing ornate sculptures, high windows, and a grand staircase leading up to the rest of the school. Granted, it was smaller than where he had attended wizarding school, but it was none the less impressive. Guessing that the Head's Office was at the top of the staircase, he made his way up, approving of everything he saw on the way.
At the top floor, he was greeted by several portraits whom he took to be previous Heads. Several of them made disparaging remarks about his hair, which he immediately waved off. Finally he came upon the ruby phoenix statue, which just stood there being largely unhelpful. At his wizarding school one needed to give the password to see the Headmaster. Going with this logic, he tried out a few.
"Uh...Firefox?" he tried. The statue did nothing. "Firefox University? Drakborough? Magic?"
He took the crumpled poster out of his pocket, hopefully looking for some clues. "Magical Education? Quidditch? Specialized Greenhouses? State-of-the-art-Defense-Against-the-Dark-Arts-Program?!"
The statue was still in the exact same spot, looking stonily past him. Out of ideas, Wyndham tried another means. Maybe he had to announce himself?
"Hello," he tried tentatively. "I'm he--"
At the greeting the statue stepped out of his way and Wyndham brushed past it, thinking to himself what a stupid password 'Hello' was. As he stepped into the room, he was struck by how small it was. Nothing befitting a head of a prestegious magical institution. Nevertheless, he had to make himself presentable. He quickly flattened his dark hair, careful to let some of it fall casually into his eyes. Flashing a dazzling smile, just in case the Head was a woman, he spoke brazenly.
"Arthur Wyndham, here to see the head. You've found your next teacher," he said extending his hand.
DERP!DERP!
