It had always been common, in both the Muggle and Wizarding worlds, for people to use the weather as a general clue as to whether the day would be a good or bad one. Bright sunny weather seemed to predict a good day ahead, while rain and the like were often seen as a bad omen for events yet to come. Perhaps that whole way of thinking began as a psychological thing- after all, most people do feel uplifted by bright weather. Whether or not it had, there was no denying that people now associated weather with luck. Old wive's tales let everyone know that good weather on the day of a wedding was a sign of a successful match, while bad weather was not good, not good at all.
In that case, it wouldn't have been surprising if the petite brunette making her way towards the castle had been disheartened at the sudden clap! of thunder that sounded, meaning that her arrival would be marked or heralded by a storm. A bad sign for this new start, surely?
Not so. Indeed, the girl started, but then laughed as the sudden onslaught of raindrops began their relentless attack. A strangled Miaaaaaowwwwww!!! could be heard from somewhere within the bundle she held in one arm, and suddenly a small black cat emerged and leapt to the groud, clearly disgusted by the rain. He made angry noises at Aednat from way ahead where he sat at the door, wanting the girl to let him in from this horrid weather. Rain. It was so...undignified.
Instead, the slight girl set her case down and placed the bundle on top, spread her arms wide, and twirled in a circle, face upturned towards the heavens. She was already drenched, there was no point in trying to stay dry. Annoyed at the wait, the cat braved the rain and ran to her legs, twisting around them in a figure or eight and almost tripping her up, all the while miaowing insistently.
"Alright, alright, no need to be such a grouch!" Aednat told him happily in her lilting Irish accent. Her blue eyes sparkled and she smiled playfully, but scooped him up nonetheless and took hold of her things once more.
Setting the cat back down once she reached the door, she pulled out her wand and muttered a quick drying spell for her sodden clothes and dripping curls. Dry once more, she glanced over her shoulder for the last time before she became an official member of Firefox University. A small storm had arrived with her, but she didn't think it a bad sign. This was a new start...another one. She was coming here from Magic Horizons, and yes, she'd miss some things there, some people. However, adventurous and excitable girl that she was, she was up for something new and looking forward to this new step.
Curiosity and anticipation playing on her face, the Irish girl pushed the door open. It was early morning, the first class wouldn't have started yet as far as she knew. Hopeful, her eyes scanned the area for someone. She hoped to meet a friend from Magic Horizons, but she'd be happy to meet anyone at all.
