Most people going to a magical school would think moving heavy objects would be no large feat. A swish and flick of a wand and objects of all sizes and weights could be easily moved without a care. And so the issue of heavy trunks and cauldrons was usually no more than a wrist flick away for most incoming students for Firefox. Or at least they had a Professor or Prefect around to help them.
This was not the case for Niobe Wattson, a student arriving rather early and perturbed for the next term at Firefox. The red head was standing out in front of the arch staring down at her luggage with annoyed blue eyes as she tapped her wand on her hip debating what to do about it. The carriage that had taken her thus far to Firefox had already left the girl there after collecting payment and tip for the trip. The driver had used his magic to get the luggage out of the carriage and hadn’t passed a second thought that the fifteen year old he was depositing might not be able to get her things into the castle.
There was a rather large trunk, cauldron, broomstick, and small owl in his cage that needed to be transported into the school and eventually into a Common Room. But right now Niobe would be quite content with getting indoors as she was eyeing impending clouds that certainly were part of a storm.
Muttering under her breath she rolled up the sleeves of her robes and swished her wand in a rather feeble movement at her things. “Wingardium Leviosa!” She said with great determination, but all she managed to do was make her belongings tremble a bit and upset her rather energetic owl. Niobe was indeed a witch, but her wand work needed improvement. A lot of improvement.
She groaned and waved her wand even more impatiently at the luggage, succeeding in knocking the owl cage off of the trunk and only barely managing to grab it before it fell completely. The owl inside jabbed a few pecks at her hands before she got it resettled on the trunk. Thunder clapped ominously in the distance and Niobe muttered under her breath as she stowed the wand. Welcome to Firefox University for her. “Thanks a lot mom…” The Hufflepuff said bitterly as she reached down and grabbed the handle of her trunk.
If she couldn’t magically move it inside she’d just have to drag it in before her and her things got soaked.
