A pair of long, lanky legs pumped with vigor. A pair of trainers pounded the ground in quickstep. A pair of blonde pigtails bounced on a lean back. A girl in pink running shorts, a white tanktop, and pink-and-white trainers rounded a corner, sweaty and flushed. As she reached the steps, she stopped and sat. Before she could even catch her breath, a largish dog, that looked something like a wolf, jumped on her, licking at her face. "Down, Dora. Come on, girl." These protest were hiccupped in between fits of giggles.
She eventually succeeded in getting the dog off of her, and she stood again. "I think we should head back in now, girl. I need to take a bath, an-" But she never finished her sentence, because the dog cut her off with a whine and a loud bark. 'Another lap, mistress. Please.' The animal peaded psionically. "Fine, fine," said the girl. "Just let me get a drink of water, okay?"
The girl reached into her pocket and pulled out a tiny bag. After she stared intensely at it for a moment, it grew into a normal sized handbag. She reached in and extracted a bottle of water, which she sipped before putting it back in the bag. Then, she stared at the bag again as it shrank, and finally she returned it to her pocket. "Alright, let's go." Girl and dog set off for one more lap around the school.
bic- She caught the sound of steps, rather uneven, of two persons, two beings. Easing out of her place in the crook of a tree branch, Elle dropped to the ground, night vision picking out the two beings. There wasn't very much night left, with the hint of the sunlight, but Elle thought it was dark enough to come out of the shadows. It wouldn't be really dawn for awhile yet.
Like the Gryffindor Prefect, Elle recognized this one. Not of my old house, though, Elle thought, watching the girl. Her hair was a few shades lighter than Elle's own, and her eyes had a surprising red shade. Strange. Then Ellesa realized why she looked more familiar than ever.
Because I know her, Elle realized. They had met once, before Elle's....current situation. Before the blooding. Elle started into a walk, her stomach in knots. Morgana Elle Pendragon, that had been one of the things they had immediately cued in on. Such similar names, it had been amusing.
"Morgan!" Elle half-shouted, but whatever she had been going to say after that cut off as she caught sight of the large dog at her side. No, not dog. Wolf. It smelled similar to the beasts that resided in the forests, the lycans. Elle slowed, stopped, and raised one arm to wave at the Ravenclaw Prefect, and captain of the Quidditch Team. Should I tell her?
Maybe she had already heard. After her encounter with the Gryffindor boy Felix, there was no telling how many people knew about the former Slytherin's fate. Elle didn't know, didn't care. She just worried that Morgan would hate her, now Elle was what she was. People Elle had never met didn't bother her, but someone she had known, spoken to, considered a sort of friend, worried her. What would Morgan think?

"Morgan!"
The cry pierced the stillness and quiet of the pre-dawn hours. But who could be out here so early? Or so late, as the case may have been. Morgan was sure no one knew about her little routine. She liked running in the morning; the chill of the night not yet giving way to the sweltering Spanish sun. It had become something of a habit. One lap, sometimes two, around the whole grounds, then a quick shower before breakfast. It helped her keep her athletic figure trim. And besides, Dora loved it too.
The prefect turned toward the voice. Her face still cheerful from her psychic bantering with Dora. However, the cheer was soon replaced by a question. "Elle. What are you doing out so early? I haven't seen you in weeks. How are you?" Of course, Morgan hadn't seen quite a few people in weeks, what with studying and all. Not even Felix, possibly because he was as much of a brainiac as she was.
Still, she was happy to see her aquaintance. The girl with the strikingly similar name. She offered Elle a smile, and ignored Dora's impatient whine, insisting that they get on with their run.
'Mistress, she doesn't smell right.'
'What?'
'She smells...wrong. Dead. Like the crypt.'
'No, that's ridi- Morgan stopped herself. What was the point of having familiars if you didn't let them do their job? "Elle, is there something you wanted to tell me?
She swallowed once, not moving forward when Morgan turned to greet her. The vampire glanced at the animal, eyes flickering, and then she looked back up at her friend. Morgan had a funny expression on her face, and she was looking at the wolf every few seconds.
Elle had read about familiars but never had one herself. A relative of hers had kept a falcon familiar for several years, and Elle knew they had often shared thoughts telepathically. The wolf must be talking to her, Ellesa thought.
"It can smell it, can't it?" she asked quietly. Ellesa Pierce took a few steps towards the two but keeping the distance enough for escape in case the canine went frantic. The vampire didn't even know Morgan had a familiar, and she wasn't sure how tame they were, if at all. Smiling weakly at the prefect, she brushed her bangs out of her face. This meeting wasn't going at all like Elle wanted, and it was the wolf's fault, apparently.
At least Felix hadn't told anyone. At least, it didn't seem that way. "Um...I met Romulus...a couple weeks ago." She crossed her arms across her chest, as if she were suddenly cold. "You might not know who that is..."
I wish I didn't, Elle thought, biting her lip again. Her eyes flickered to where the sun would rise in an hour or so, almost nervously. She had never really been out so late....early. Vampire time was so confusing. Morgan could put two and two together, and if she couldn't, well, Elle didn't plan on sticking around to explain it.

Romulus? Morgan had heard that name...wasn't he a...oh. Oh! Morgan glanced nervously at the sun. Shouldn't Elle be heading back now? Morgan didn't want her to get hurt, even if she was a nosferatu now. "Yes, Dora informed me of what you are. And, I don't care. We were friends before, and we're friends now." Morgan stepped closer to Elle. Dora whined.
'Mistress, are you sure that's wise? Aren't you afraid of it?'
'SHE is my friend. She won't hurt me.'
'If you say so, mistress.'
However, Dora stayed back, not following Morgan as the prefect got quite close to Elle. "Don't worry about Dora. She's harmless. The important thing is, are you okay?"
Morgan caught on quickly, and the dog whined. The prefect spoke, words of comfort to Elle. The relief swallowed her like a wave, almost making her choke up right there in the school. But vampires didn't cry. Well, Romulus had...something like crying before, but it wasn't the same thing at all.
"Thank you, Morgan," Elle said quietly, stepping forward as Morgan drew close. The wolf certainly didn't looked harmless, but Elle would take the Ravenclaw's word for it. Had it only been a few weeks ago that they had sat on the lakeside, in the sun, talking about Quidditch? It felt like another lifetime. Elle almost laughed. For her, it was another lifetime.
"I..stay up at the Castille, alot." She'd probably be spending the night in the crypt this evening. There was no way she'd make it back up to the Castille before sunup. Romulus wasn't going to be thrilled with her. Not thrilled at al. "I'm okay, I guess. This wasn't my choice of...life changes," she said with a humorless smile.
"I'm glad I get to see you again. I walk around on campus alot, but I don't approach everyone..." She glanced up at the Ravenwood tower, where she had met the Gryffindor girl who had been terrified at first, then partly curious about Elle. "I met Felix. He...amused me. But Romulus is very....overprotective. Be careful, Morgan. There are more vampires in the Castille than anyone realizes."
Elle looked at the wolf, who was hanging back rather fearfully, and tried to smile, but it was hard. She wasn't worried at all about the wolf, really. If it did get out of hand, she knew she could handle it.

Morgan glanced nervously at the lightening sky again. "Yes, Felix can always be counted on to be...interesting. Still, shouldn't you be getting somewhere safe now? If you want to talk again, I'd be happy to." She seemed not to notice the threat of Romulus. Not that she didn't consider him a threat--that was certainly not the case--it was more that Morgan was afraid that invoking his name, or mentioning him too much, might bring him. It was an old superstition, one mostly tied to Faerie, but a little caution couldn't hurt.
"I'll be out at the quidditch pitch tonight, after dinner. Ravenclaw is having tryouts, and as Captain, I'll be the last to leave." Morgan hadn't taken her amber pupils off of the growing glow on the horizon.
Elle followed her gaze to the slight glow on the horizon and nodded slightly, the first glint of fear in her eyes. It vanished as she looked away, first to the wolf, then to Morgan. Her blue-green eyes flickered with something, an unknown emotion, and she took a few steps towards the Crypt, the white tomb supposably that held Salazar Slytherin. Fun.
"Thanks Morgan. I'll be there, quick as I can," Elle said, studying the Ravenclaw. She really didn't look afraid. That was good. Sort of.
Quidditch. It hadn't occured to her about the game, not lately. Maybe there would be a nightime game and she could come watch....Probably not. But Quidditch players even did their games in a storm. Maybe....Elle shook the thought away and took steps towards the Crypt.
"Goodbye."
The vampire took steps to the next corner of the building, rounded it, and disappeared from Morgan's sight.
