Eastland
In a land known only as Eastland a disease spread through the entire land infecting everybody that was living. It was unknown to people that they possessed this disease until one day all of humanity began to develop strange abilities beyond the imagination.
Telekinesis.
Levitation.
Astral-Projection.
From then on the world changed and no longer was there countries but there was just land. No longer were there cities in which families lived. Now there was just what they called Clans.
People were joining different groups and sticking with them for protection and safety. Others were making there own groups and taking advantage of their new found gifts whilst there were the few trying to stop terrible things from happening. But one thing was all for certain.
Eastland was never the same.

Chapter One
Floating
“Your boyfriend’s a bastard.”
“He’s my husband actually,” she replied with a glare, “but it’s true.”
I sniggered a little bit at her reaction. Her husband had trapped us all in a stupid room and all she could think about was the details of their relationship. I just wanted to get out of here. But how I didn’t know. I decided that instead of standing there like a lemon (like the rest of these goons) that I would look around for something useful.
Pushing on the glass wall I heaved myself up and found myself staring into a mirror. My ginger curls flowed elegantly beside my rounded face with my beautiful blue eyes. My mother had always said that I would make a beautiful bride someday. Obviously she never expected the outburst. If it wasn’t for the outfit I’d probably look all right. I was wearing my clan uniform. All black, nothing exciting. A plain black t-shirt and also black jeans, with a pair of black boots on. The ones that were in fashion before the outburst. Over the top was a big trench coat which came just below my knees. Over my right breast of the coat was the logo for Clan Five: a circle with a hand in the middle and all fingers spread out wide. I sighed. I hated wearing the uniform but we all had to when on business.
Continuing on my search through the room I found nothing useful. It just looked like we were in a glass box with a bunch of kitchen equipment and utensils. It annoyed me that there was nothing useful or helpful for an escape out of here. But there didn’t even seem a way out of here. There weren’t any clues outside the box it seemed either. That was because you couldn’t see anything it was just white, in every direction. It didn’t look naturalistic.
“Do any of you know how to get out of here?” I asked spinning around to look at the other three.
The three of them stood staring at me. Eoghan was leaning against the glass wall with his right leg raised and bent supported by the wall. His big green eyes looked straight at me and scanned my every movement; it was rather uncomfortable to say the least. His blonde hair was spiking in different places and brushed across his forehead like the fashion in the good old days. His lips were held tight together and he looked at me in anger as if I had done something to offend him.
On the other side of the room his twin sister Echo was looking over the top of a cabinet she had been looking in (one I’d already searched and knew nothing helpful was in there). She also had blonde hair which was pinned back into a messy bun whilst the rest of her hair was scraped across her forehead. Before we’d left she’d nearly used a tin of hairspray to make the fringe poof up a little and stay there in position. Another thing that was different about Echo was her uniform – she refused to wear jeans and so instead she wore a short black skirt with black tights. The green eyes that looked at me from her face were very caring and peaceful. Smiling she closed the cabinet door before turning and looking at Grace.
Grace was the leader of Clan Five and she made sure that everybody knew it. Her hair was brown and cut short into a bob. Her brown eyes could kill anybody in a second. She stood with her feet spread evenly apart and her hands on her hips. Even though I had just asked a question Grace wasn’t looking at me. Instead she was looking up at the sky, well the glass roof. We all followed her gaze and saw what she saw. A door. It was easy to open and close. The only problem was getting up there. The box was so high.
“Do we need to get up there?” I asked, it was a bit of a stupid question but I felt like something needed to be said.
The rest of the clan looked at me with the expression ‘duh!’ written all over there faces. I shrugged my shoulders at them before sitting down on one of the chairs in the room before leaning back on the glass wall.
“Who are you again newbie?” Eoghan asked in disgust.
I scowled at the young man before answering, “I’m Sophia. The girl you recruited because your stupid husband betrayed you and left to destroy the world or something.”
As soon as I said it I could tell that I had offended Grace. I hadn’t meant to call her ex-husband stupid because I knew she was still caught up about him after he betrayed them. But it had to be said. Grace bit her tongue before saying anything.
“If your so wise newbie,” it seemed they had a little nickname for me, “what do you suggest?”
“Simple. We go up there, open the door and go out.”
Everybody in the room stared at me as if I was doing the Irish jig in a clown costume whilst balancing ten plates on my head. I rolled my eyes annoyed at them for not even remembering what I could do so instead I stood up. I clenched my fists together and closed my eyes. I allowed all the air inside of me to flow out before unclenching my fists. Echo squealed as she, and the other two, raised slowly into the air.
“What are you doing?” Eoghan bawled.
“I control gravity dumb ass.”
I focused once again and the three fell to the ground in a heap. They moaned and groaned as they stood up while I grinned at them. Instantly I rose from the ground and I glided myself towards the door. I had had many a time practising flying so now I was pretty used to the concept. Once I got to the door I opened it and outside of it was a swirling matter of a mixture of blue and black. A vortex.
“Come on then,” Grace shouted over the burst of air bellowing from the vortex, “Get us up.”
With a wave of my hand the three began to float. I could tell that they had never done this before because they were all looking a little pale. It took some getting used to. I had to float around helping them towards the vortex before pushing them through. Grace was determined not to get my help but in the end gave up and allowed me to guide her towards the door.
“On three. One. Two. Three!”
We jumped through the vortex and the door slammed shut behind us. It was now my turn to feel sick. I felt all the blood in my body rushing to my head and I could tell I was going to faint. I decided instead of fighting it I would just let it take me.

Suddenly I hit something hard and I awoke instantly. My eyes shot open and I found myself in a familiar field. It was the field we were all in before we were sent to that hell of a room. The other three were next to me and had already gotten up by the time I was fully recovered and able to stand. They must have been much more used to vortex’s than I was as Brennan used to be in their clan before he betrayed them. I stood up and brushed myself off. The bright Sun was beating down and blinding us all so we decided to take shelter underneath the shade of some trees.
Grace tapped her watch and spoke, “Parker, Parker you there?”
“Hey Boss! Something amazing has happened! It’s unreal! How it happened I just don’t know, but it has and I’m not going to complain. Well, there is like one drawback, and it’s going to be really hard but I can still help. But I’ll tell you; well it’s pretty much obvious, when you get back. How’d it go? Did we kick some back-stabbing butt?” a voice rambled quickly from the watch.
“Calm down Parker, and I told you not to call me Boss. No we didn’t Parker, he trapped us again. I wasn’t quick enough to dampen his power.”
If I knew what Grace’s ability was I’d probably understand what she meant but I had no clue. In fact I didn’t know any of there. It was silly really that I had no clue what the rest of my clan could do. What if something happened? But it already happened.
Whilst Grace spoke the twins had gone and sat beneath a tree and so I joined them. As I arrived I noticed Eoghan groan. I didn’t know what I had done to offend him but if he continued this behavior we’d be having words. Rolling my eyes I sat down next to Echo opposite Eoghan who was leaning against a tree. There wasn’t really any way around it other than asking up front.
“So, what can you do?”
Eoghan just continued to survey me in some sort of disgust whilst Echo smiled at me. Before she replied she looked at her twin and hit him on the leg for giving me the evils. I grinned at him and he was forced to smile back.
“I can create protective force fields,” Echo started, “And anybody can fit in them. They also allow me to fly if I make a panel beneath me. It’s quite cool actually but I’m not strong enough to hold other people. I am when Grace allows me too though. That’s her gift,” she said gesturing to Grace who was still talking with her watch,
“The gift of power augmentation. It means that she can increase the strength of somebody’s power, or even decrease it so much that you end up being unable to use it. The worst thing about it though she can make you so strong that you can’t control it. It’s horrible when it happens.”
“Cool. So you’re probably the safest person to hang around with,” I said trying to make a joke, “What about you? What can you do?”
Eoghan slowly tilted his head toward me. Pure menace was all you could see on his face. If anybody was to betray the clan I would have suspected this guy. But he’s got his sister to think about so that’d never happen.
“I can turn invisible.”
Short and simple.
“That’s original.”
My clanmate scowled at me. Once again my failed attempts at humour wore thin on the others as they stared at me. I whimpered a little before realising Grace was no longer talking to her watch but instead standing there and what seemed like thinking.
“What’s the deal with this Parker dude?”
The twins looked at each other and seemed to bite their lips. Obviously either this Parker was really important or something really bad. It was impossible to guess.
“Parker is a member of our clan, hence why we are called Clan Five and why we had to recruit somebody else so soon after the betrayal. We have to have five in the group no matter what. That’s also why you haven’t been to the clanhouse yet; because we had to leave straight away. But anyways, Parker he was injured a while back when we fought the clan that it seems Brennan is the leader of, Clan Island.
“Since then he’s been in a coma. Luckily his ability isn’t a physical one as he is a technopath, which means he can manipulate technology to his will. However, even though he was in a coma for some reason his brain was still active and so we realised he was only paralyzed, we’re not that good on medical stuff if you can tell. So through his mind he assembled a high-tech robot which he communicates through and he modified the whole clanhouse for his so he is now our security system. Pretty cool huh?”
I nodded. Parker, it seemed, was now a robot. That would be a strange site to see when I get to the clanhouse. I felt Grace’s presence behind us and realised she had been listening in on our conversation. I looked up at her with a toothy, innocent grin. All the response I got was a raised eyebrow. Behind me the twins automatically stood so I guessed that was they were all waiting for me to do. Looking from the twins to Grace to the twins, I slowly stood up and smiled innocently at them all before awaiting what the orders were.
“We go home,” Grace spoke, “apparently there’s some big news.”
(OK, I'm planning to join this site and I know I shouldn't of posted this before I have but I wanted to make sure that I was Ok to join and so I was wondering if somebody could tell if they think this is good so that I know. Thank you very much.
