Adrian ogled at the parchment held in her hand. Her brown eyes flicked up to the wood sitting several feet away from her. She decided to take the easy route and start with three colors, she might add more later. Pink, green and blue were her colors.
Her willowy hand pulled her wand up in front of her face. Her mind fixed on the first color, pink. Fuchsia colored sparks shot from her wand. Next one, blue. Azure flickered from her wand. Last one, green. All three colors tied together in sparks. It was time to cast her spell.
"Vicissitudinis Coloratis," she tilted her wand forward, but a loud bang distracted her. Her head spun right round to see what the noise was. In the mean time, a lock of her hair had landed on the tip of the wand.
Her brown eyes darted to the wand tip and her hair. That lock of hair was pink. Then, blue and green after that.
"Shit! Shit. Shit," she said, falling from a cresendo.
Someone or something made her mess up. Her hair was flashing colors. Her hair was flashing.
What the hell?
Would this even count for her assignment? It wasn't necessarily something of her choice, but it was something. She needed to forget about that now and go find out what the hell it was that distracted her.
"Hello?" she called out walking toward where the sound came from. Out of the corner of her eye, her hair sat on her shoulder, flashing. Over and over and over. The same three colors. But she did kind of like the colors. Maybe she would add more later.
Red. Red-orange. Orange. Yellow-orange. Yellow. Yellow-green. Green. Blue-green. Blue. Blue-violet. Violet. Red-violet. These were the colors a strip of parchment flashed, a strip that was now lying on a stone bench. It lie in almost a mocking manner.
Nearby in hand sat a whitewashed wooden five-pointed star.
And down yonder, on the ground, still on his foot, mind, was Cyan's shoe flickering the three primary colors, three secondary colors, and six tertiary colors of the color wheel.
Clearly, Cyan's shot had missed. All because someone blew up something and started screaming curses nearby. Bloody hell.
"Hello," he replied, unsmiling with with eyes drooped in an aggravated manner.
Who was this goth chick, and--Whoa. Cyan blinked. Her hair. One strip kept flashing colors, almost stylishly. Almost, except that the colors depicted made a rather atrocious combination. Like, virgin pink, grass green, and cobalt blue. Maybe the green and blue, but the pink? No way.
"You trying to blow up the field or something? What's with that loud bang I heard?"

Adrian's eyes immediately bounced down to his shoe. As it flashed the colors of the rainbow, her eyes hurt a little. Quickly, her eyes flickered up to the face of the perpetrator.
That boy? He was from the tower. His name was a color, too. She remembered that. Cerulean? No. Cyan? Yes, that was it.
"Cyan, that loud bang wasn't you? Then what was it?" She quickly turned to look around for anything.
She honestly hardly recognized Cyan in the sunlight. She only saw him in the dark one time, but she was good with faces and names.
Her hair continued to flash and annoy her. She grabbed it and tucked it behind her ear and off her shoulder so she couldn't see it, but it was still there and she knew it.
That girl seemed familiar. The voice, too. Man, Cyan knew this chick, but he could not quite pin down her name...
He blinked.
"You mean, it wasn't you?"
Riiiiight. Well, that could be a problem. Especially in a school full of kids learning magic for the first time.
He glanced around. He didn't see anyone other than this chick, but he hadn't seen her the first time anyway. Maybe the culprit was behind a column or something?
The boy decided to finish up his business. In a magical school... Well, he'd gotten used to this kind of thing.
Recalling the color wheel, which was more than easy with his shoe flickering like that, his wand sparked and he flicked the tip at the five-pointed star. "Vicissitudinis coloratis." And it, like his shoe and the strip of parchment, soon also began going through the color wheel. It was quite a lovely combination. Obviously.
"Well, if it wasn't you and wasn't me, then I'm not sticking around," he said, rising to his feet.
Red. Red-violet. Violet...
Cyan looked ominously at his shoe. He wasn't a hufflepuff. He couldn't just walk around like that.
...Blue-green. Green. Yellow-green...
"Say, you know anything to make it, ah... stop?"

"You mean it wasn't you?"
Adrian whipped her head to and fro trying to say no, but a little more enthusiastic than intended. Cyan began to look around for something. With a boom like that, an explosion should be somewhere.
His eyes suddenly averted down to his magically color changing shoe. At his statement, Adrian grabbed her streak of magic changing hair.
"Only if I knew. Do you know how to add more color to it once the spell has been cast?" She did like her hair with it's color changing abnormalities.
Her eyes immediately darted down to her black converse shoes, then immediately back to his shoes, back to hers and then to his face. She rapidly approached the boy and stood only a foot in front of him.
She quickly leaned over and ripped her shoe off of her foot leaving her black sock on. She continued to stare The hufflepuff lifted the black shoe to Cyan. The young man was probably too embarrassed to not be a hufflepuff at that moment.
Adrian could give away her shoes without a thought that they might stink. They smelled like lavender. Charms really was a lovely class.
"No, I think you'd have to end the spell and then reca--"
Cyan blinked. What the--
As her shoe pointed at him and Cyan was left-opened mouthed, the wee slytherin managed to deduce that this chick was probably a hufflepuff. No, he did not want her shoe. No, he wanted nothing to do with her shoe but to--Was that scent lavender?--get it out of his face.
"Um.... no thanks."
Did she get it? He hoped she got it.
He didn't think he knew any goth puffs, but this person felt so familiar.
"ANYWAY," as in please stop now, "I think it was.... Finite incantatum?" he half-asked with a flick at his shoe. As if all the life were sucked out of it, reverting its color to gray scale, the shoe returned to normal. And, hopefully, that was the end of that.
And, hopefully, he could escape before whatever made that noise earlier came over here. Cyan had a vague concern that its name started with an F.

Apparently, the color changing shoe wearing boy had no interest in taking her shoe. His choice.
Cyan pointed his wand at his shoe and cast a spell and then his shoe went back to being arid. She quickly sat down on the floor and put her shoe back on.
Adrian turned her own wand on her magic hair and said, "Finite incantatum."
Instantly her magic hair turned regular and lifeless. She stood back up, smiled at the Slytherin and began to back away from him slightly. He seemed like he was wishing to leave, and Adrian wouldn't stop him from doing so. She still had to figure out colors for her hair as well as make her wood charmed again without interruption.
The brunette grabbed her previously color changing hair streak and lifted her wand. The last set of colors were too bright. She needed to tone them down a bit.
Sparks of light pink, light blue, light green, light purple, and light orange shot out of her wand. She aimed it at her lock of hair and said, "Vicissitudinis Coloratis."
It flashed again with more "Adrian appropriate" colors. She smiled at her work and looked at the boy. He was still here?
Well, the gothpuff was keeping her shoe. That was good.
Then, she lit that lock of hair of hers with a tints of green, purple, orange, pink, and blue. In that order. Cyan winced. The orange and pink looked nice together as well as the blue and green, but the arrangement of the others was just... too shocking.
Resist it, he told himself as he swallowed, gripping his wand.
Now, a more soothing arrangement would be something like green, blue, purple, pink, orange... And then maybe something between the analogous complements of green and orange. Yellow would nice.
At least, making everything pastel created a more soothing effect....
Whatever. Whatever. This was not his project or his art project, so he just needed to butt out. It wasn't like they'd be graded on artistic taste or anything.
Giving his head a shake, Cyan aimed his wand at the star and made sparks come out in the same arrangement as before. "Vicissitudinis coloratis," he said, finally casting the star (not his shoe, nor his hand) the proper colors. The same colors as before, mind. Of course, if this weren't an art thing (colors!), he probably wouldn't be able to pull off such a complex charm (twelve different colors, whew).
He stood up, pocketing the thing and snatching up his parchment.
With one finally look (that color combination in her hair made him feel kind of constipated), he said, "Well, see ya," as another bang resounded through the air.
Shaking his head again, Cyan bolted.

The slytherin boy stared at her hair for a moment. Maybe he liked it, maybe he didn't, but what mattered to her was that it didn't matter.
Adrian's eyes watched as he colored his star. There was so many colors, but they all seemed to be arraigned in a specific order. She wasn't much of a color person.
He gave her a last look and she immediately knew what it was. Her dad got it a lot after eating sushi.
It was a look of constipation.
Poor boy. She quickly moved out of his way as he scurried off. Emergency toilet run.
And there she stood, left on her own to deal with someone setting off what sounded like bombs on campus. The bangs began to grow closer in time.
The hufflepuff walked around a bit looking around pillars, but saw nothing. It probably wasn't anything. She turned back to her wood and decided to cast it as the same colors as her hair. After her spell was cast, she grabbed the wood and began to walk off.
Then, an extremely loud boom went off, making her jump. She quickly looked around for the source of it and saw a figure a little ways away. The sun was in her eyes, so even when she squinted, she couldn't see the person. Who was it?
