((First Post for Cyan, plz.))
Nadia had a decision to make, and it was one she was totally at a loss of which option was the best one. The only solution was, of course, to find someone to talk it over with. Only two people came to mind. And while Channah was an excellent sounding board and a good listener, it was Cyan's opinion on the matter she really valued.
She'd sent him a note earlier in the day:
Meet me after lunch in the greenhouse.~ Don't bring Finny. Don't even let him know you got a note from me. I'm serious.
♥Nadia~
Nadia hoped Cyan would show up. She settled herself on one of the stone benches that dotted the part that wasn't a classroom. Around her grew a variety of pretty flowers which she didn't even know the names of. Nadia wasn't too worried, though. The professors wouldn't keep dangerous plants out here in the open where anyone might wander. Would they?
Where was Cyan?
Nadia had been too nervous to eat much at lunch. What if Cyan didn't come? Or worse, what if he did and then was so freaked by her plan to escape her fate that he never wanted to speak to her again? That would be awful. As she waited, her feet fidgeting on the ground below, she pulled her school robes tighter around herself, as though fighting off the cold, although the greenhouse was rather warm, actually. It was all she could do not to pull her knees up to her chest completely. Why was she so nervous about this? Nadia had no idea.
Cyan dropped his pencil as his blue eyes re-scanned the note in his hand. Meeting Nadia. Alone. (Theoretically.) Anyway, the important thing (second only to the beautiful little missy) was that Finny would not be there. Not that Cyan would turn it down in the first place, but being Finny-free was a definite plus!
The pencil rolled away from his foot, and he reached for it.
As far as he knew, he would be meeting a girl alone. Invited by her. How cool was that? And it wasn't for swimming or something. They were meeting in a relatively quiet place. What could be better than that?
Maybe she'd ask him out or something?!
Cyan shook his head, curly brown locks spinning around the end of a mop. He grimaced--if he couldn't keep his cool, then he'd be just like Finny. Ick.
So. Lunch time. Lunch time... What time was it?
Sitting atop the Ravenwood Tower, the fifth-year student managed to find the sun dial. Apparently, it was a quarter until one or something. Like, the end of lunch.
Doing a little mental math, he yelped, "Oh, crap!"
The slytherin teen quickly gathered his other pencils and flipped his sketchbook closed, rapidly stuffing them all into his backpack. He'd forgotten lunch entirely. Not that it was unusual for him, but....
GIRL. Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap...
Sprinting--Well, sprinting and then doing this wearisome job (he wasn't athletic)--he bolted down through the castle and across the grounds. He was wearing jean shorts , brown sandals, and a green shirt. One might call them muggle clothes, but it was too hot to wear robes in the middle of summer. Except during class 'cause profs could be as scary as Cassandra on some days.
Puffing, he entered the main greenhouse. It was probably a little after one.
Man, he would never be an athlete. Ever. Sweating was gross, and breathing hard was just not cool. Not at all.
He straightened up his posture, removing his hands from his knees in an attempt to not look like he just ran there from the farthest part of the castle. His legs felt wobbly.
"N-Nadia...?" he whispered, creeping down the main isle and looking around. Well, it would be awkward if he ran into another student or something.
Oh, crap. What if it was a trap to make slytherin lose points and leave an opening for the top? Or what if Nadia wanted to ask Cyan about Finny? Maybe she asked for Cyan to come without him because she had a crush on him? Ew.
Cyan didn't think that was possible, but ew. Just ew.
Well. It was probably better than that Lion kid in gryffindor.
He glanced around.
"Nadia?"

When Nadia heard Cyan call for her, her nerves calmed down a little. At least he'd shown up. But what should she do now. Right. She should probably find him and say hello or something. She was totes going to do that right now. She straightened herself out and stood up, turning her head a little to try and determine from which direction Cyan was calling for her.
"Cyan!" She exclaimed when she found him, but then realized she was being a little loud, and got control of her volume. "I'm glad you're here. I have something I wanted to talk to you about." She took his hand and led him back to the stone bench she'd been sitting on before.
She'd run into an interesting problem, though. Now that she had him here, she wasn't quite sure how to start. So, she did what she always did in these situations; she started babbling. "So, you remember that day when we met and told each others' fortunes for divinations, and you got a life of artistic adventure, and I got stuck being all patient and long-suffering or whatever? Well, I've been thinking an awful lot about that day since then, like really thinking about it, you know?"
That day wouldn't stop running through her head for a couple of reasons, actually. "Anyway, I've got kind of a confession to make, so, you know, please don't laugh at me or freak out or anything." Oh man, if Cyan freaked out about this, Nadia was going to totally lose it. She'd probably run off crying or something equally dramatic. It would be a mess.
"I think I've got a way to change my fate," she near-whispered, looking into Cyan's face, to see his reaction.
Naturally grinning at the sight of Nadia, Cyan waved.
She held his hand and took him to a bench (one that even felt warm from her tush maybe!). She didn't seem to notice he was out of breath. Man, his cool act was good.
And then he got a wave over him. Like, a wave of words. Like, holy crap, he'd better swim or drown, and drowning would totally suck. He did his best to keep up with the ramblings.
At any rate, he had absolutely no room to interrupt.
After watching her lips open in close for a very quick thirty seconds, she stopped talking. She was worked up and wanted comfort and, most importantly, was about to confess something.
Crap. I hope she hasn't fallen for Finny.
His expression calmed to something much more serious. He would have to listen and listen good. Man, were her blue... gray? Blue-gray?... eyes pretty. Kind of like stones near a pool at night...
He yanked his thoughts back, shifting his sight just slightly to focus on the point between her eyes before he saw too much.
Not knowing quite how to respond, he echoed her words.
"A way to change your fate?"

He didn't laugh. That was good.
And he hadn't freaked out yet. That was good too.
"Yeah," Nadia continued, encouraged by Cyan's reaction. "I went to the forest to do that potions assignment thing, and I ran into this guy that lived in there." No mention that she hadn't actually done the assignment. "Anyway, I was really upset at the time because my parents both wrote to me and I found out some family stuff that was just really hard to hear. Anyway, between that and thinking about my crappy fate, I was just kind of sick of magic, you know?" She looked up at Cyan again, silently pleading for him to understand her state of mind.
"Right, so then I was talking to this guy, and he told me that there was a third option. He said that I could become a lycan, like this crazy awesome shape-shifting wolf person. And I wouldn't have to worry about being magic ever again. I asked him could I think about it, and he said sure. So, here I am, thinking about it." Nadia hadn't wanted to act out of anger or hurt feelings. That kind of thing was never productive. People who habitually did that often found that they had few friends, and that no one took them seriously because of their tendency to over react. Nadia didn't want to end up like that.
"Anyway, what do you think? I think it would be frikkin sweet to be a shape-shifter wolf girl, but what about my mom, dad, and sister? They want me to go back to California if I'm not happy here, but I really don't want to leave." I want to stay here with you. The unvoiced thought lingered. Normally, Nadia had no mental filter, but she didn't want to overwhelm Cyan all at once. She could confess that she thought he was really cute after they decided about her becoming a lycan.
Cyan grimaced a bit as Nadia mentioned entering the forest. He clasped his hands together and rubbed his fingers a bit. He could practically feel the tentacles that sprouted from his visit.
Her family was revealing things. Was she adopted or maybe had a squid in the family or something? Maybe a secret brother or sister?
As for how someone could be sick of magic... Well, to each their own.
Then, she went on about lycans.
Cyan may have blinked a little.
He had a really difficult time not looking her directly in the retinas, but he'd be in trouble if he got lost in them during something important like this.
"Hold on.... um..." Right. His bearings. He had to get his bearings. "Um, you won't be able to do magic again if you become a lycan, right? If you don't do magic, then you can't stay at this school. Besides, you can... become a lycan at any time, right? So," he continued weakly, swallowing, "m-maybe you should just wait and think about it or something?
"A-And if it's shape-shifting you want, then maybe you should try to become an animagus or... maybe there's a temp potion out there for it or something?"
He glanced up at her questioningly.
Man, she wouldn't try to eat her or something if she turned, would she?

"I can't become an animagus." Nadia dropped her eyes to her feet as she made this proclamation. "See, I used to think I was a muggleborn. I thought that it was just that growing up knowing about magic gave you an edge, and that if I tried hard, I would get it. But, that's not happening. My parents are both squibs, and they never even told me, until just a few days ago."
How could they hide this from her? Far from the anger she'd first felt, Nadia now just really wanted to know. A secret like that was a terrible thing to keep. "Anyway, it's pretty much guaranteed that I'll be a failure at magic, no matter what I try. If I were a lycan, I could finally be good at something. I don't want to leave, but at least as a lycan, I can stay close. What's my other choices? Stay in school and be miserable? Go home to California, and leave my friends? Leave you?"
Nadia hadn't actually meant for that last part to slip out, but it had. And her face grew almost as red as her hair. "I-I mean, not that we're anything special, I guess," She quickly backpedaled, then worried that he wouldn't think she was interested. "I've just been thinking about you a lot, but not in a creepy stalker way, I swear. I wouldn't, like follow you around or break into the Slytherin common room or anything."
She was screwing this up royally. She had to do something to fix it. "I'm sorry," she managed to squeak, before covering her mouth with both hands to stop anything more embarrassing coming out.
Nadia's parents were squibs? As in, both of them? Cyan cringed. Wow, that sucked. It meant she was pureblooded, though. What were the odds?
She blithered on quite a lot.
She definitely caught his attention when she mentioned leaving him in particular, but he felt his stomach drop when she said the two of them weren't special.
He did manage to smile when she mentioned the common room, though.
"It's okay." What else was he supposed to say? "I already broke into the Hufflepuff Common Room. Well, I was dragged there... Unwillingly." Sheepishly, he scratched his head. "And, you know, your parents being squibs has nothing to do with you... Mudbl--Ah, muggleborns are born from muggles all the time, and they don't have any relatives that could do magic at all.
"Maybe you just haven't found your talents yet? I suck at potions. They all smell flowery or turn weird colors or emit smoke, even if I follow the directions word for word. You don't know anything until you try, but I guess there's no point in trying if you've already given up?"
Wow, did he feel chatty.
"Anyway, it's your decision to make... If nothing else, then I guess you should just wait and not make a decision like that while you're ticked at your mom and dad? You should... It's important, so I think you should wait and think over it and decide once you're not mad anymore and... You know, make sure you make that kind of decision only for you and not because of a grudge or outta revenge or something."
Feeling rather awkward, he glanced downward.

Dragged unwillingly? Had to be Finny. Nadia felt her mood lighten up at the thought.
Cheered up enough to think about what he said for a minute, and come up with a reply. She took her hands away from her mouth, and actually tried thinking about what she was going to say for once, instead of just flinging it out there. "You're right, Cyan. About a lot of things. There's no point in me making a decision when I'm still mad. And if I've already given up on myself, then there's no point to my learning magic either."
Nadia thought about what that meant. She had to try, for real this time. No more self-pity because she wasn't born with magic in her blood, especially since it turned out that she was born into a magical family after all.
"You're going to help me, Cyan. Tutor me in transfiguration until I'm good enough to become an animagus. If I can do it by the time I graduate, then I stay a witch. If I can't, well then I can become a lycan then." She knew it was going to be a lot of work, but it would be worth it.
In an act of boldness that Nadia herself could not even fathom, she reached over and took Cyan's hand in hers "Please, Cyan. Will you do this for me? I asked you here for this conversation because yours is probably the most important opinion to me, besides my own. I really want to do this with you."
And then she gave him the immense chore of teaching her transfigurations and helping her to become an animagus. Holy crap.
She was starting her sixth year, so that meant he had two years to pull this off with her. Wow.
Oh, by the way, this was not a question.
He was pretty good at transfigurations, if he said so himself.
And, suddenly, before the shock of this immense proposal could wear off or even lighten a smidgen, his hand was engulfed in something warm and soft. His opinion was most important... and she... really wanted to... with him...
Well, his face got beet-red real fast, but it wasn't like he was unhappy.
His mouth opened and closed a few times. Once he could finally speak, he said, "Uh-uh-um." He swallowed.
"Well, y-yeah." He had OWLS to study for. "S-So... like transfiguration, um... S-Starting with the basics, maybe? M-Maybe like... for an hour per day? But every day. Just... l-little by little?"
Hell, with this kinda work effort, he'd ace his transfig OWLs like a pro.

Nadia nodded, a serious expression on her face, quite unlike her usually derpy looks. When Cyan blushed, her heart melted a little more. He was so completely adorbs.
When he agreed to help her, she flung her arms around him in an embrace. "Oh, thank you, Cyan! This is so great!" Cyan would be able to help her defeat her awful fate. She would work really hard and become an animagus, and then she would not worry about being good enough, magically.
Pulling back after the hug, before it crossed the line from affectionate and sweet into creepy territory, Nadia thought of something. "Oh! I have to go tell my friend that I decided to wait. He was going to turn me, but then he said I should think about it. Now I have to let him know what's going on." Orca probably wouldn't get mad or anything if she disappeared, but he probably wouldn't like it too much either.
HOLY CRAP, and suddenly Cyan was getting molested.
Quiet unlike his experiences of personal space violation in the hufflepuff common room, this actually felt quit nice.
The very ample things growing from Nadia's chest felt quite nice, too.
Naturally, he hugged her back, unable to hide an immense grin. The grin, of course, was due to her feminine charms rather than the many hours of studying they had ahead of them (like... just under 730? Yeep).
"W-Well, alrighty... Uh.... You wanna meet in the library tomorrow? Maybe at three?"

"Library tomorrow at three. Got it. I'll be there." Now that this whole thing was talked through, Nadia was feeling much better. She was kind of excited, to be honest. She was going to get to spend an hour with Cyan every day. It would be great.
"See you later, Cyan. And thank you again!" Nadia got up, resisting the urge to hug Cyan again. She was going to head into the forest after this, and let Orca know about her decision. Waving goodbye, with a huge grin on her face, she left the greenhouse.
Cyan watched as Nadia bounded away, a hundred times more at ease that before.
"You're welcome," he mumbled as she disappeared through the greenhouse doors.
After a moment, he shook his head and stood up. Somehow, there was way more going on that just what she said. Not that it felt bad. Not bad at all. As a matter of fact, in Cyan's opinion, it felt quite good!
Stomach growling, he embarked on a journey to the dining hall, wondering once again just what he'd gotten himself into.
