Despite what Adrian may have thought, the fact that she was able to summon the book to her without causing a lesbian disaster in the middle of the library did imply that she was adequate at magic. Thankful, Channah scooted closer to her to see the book.
"I guess that was a better idea than summoning your name," Channah tried to joke, awkwardly. She watched as Adrian looked to find her name... and there it was! This could have been so much simpler, so much less embarassing, if Channah had just thought her spell through. She felt her face get warm, and then Adrian said the definition out loud.
Woman of dark features.
She...
What.
Woman of dark features.
She felt a smile start to grow on her face, and she tried to hold in a laugh.
"A woman... Of d-d-dark... Pfff" Channah couldn't help it, and she started to laugh with Adrian. "That's perfect, Adrian." She turned to her, eyes shiny and bright from the laughter. "You are..." She dropped her voice to a husky, whispery version of her own. "A mysterious, dark-featured woman." She winked and turned around, still chuckling. Man. A woman of dark features. That was kind of cute.

Channah had started to laugh about the 'woman of dark features' thing. Mysterious? Adrian certainly liked that title. And then...
Her first kiss winked at her.
Adrian blushed and smiled. This was called flirting right? She shut the book and leaned back in her chair.
She doubted that she would ever introduce herself as, 'Adrian woman of dark features Marie Adams'. That would be weird and a mouthful.
"That was a lot of fun, today," Adrian said with a smile planted firm on her face and glanced over at her friend. It was at that moment that she realized all that she had accomplished in the library:
*She talked to someone *She made eye contact with someone *She made lip contact with someone *She correctly used a spell and didn't die *And she might have gotten a crush, but that was still pending in her head.
All thoughts of her father's letter had been forgotten. Wait until she told him that she kissed a girl and she liked it. That would be a fun day.
"It was!" Channah said, smiling as she kind of bounced from foot to foot. Feeling a little awkward, she let her hands fidget together. Now what? She didn't mind hanging out for longer, but she had no idea what they would do... and she didn't want to like, smother her new friend. Channah, to put it simply, was used to just being a background character in people's lives, but being put on the spot like this, being forced to actually act and respond dynamically, this was a little troubling for her. She was finding slowly that she may be just as awkward as some of the other students she had thought of as awkward, and she wasn't sure how to feel about it.
"We should, um.." Um, um, um. All of these ums seemed to be contagious, or at the very least, a worsening condition. "We should definitely hang out some time." Channah said, her voice getting a little quieter, a little shy. Was that too much to say and ask someone within the first day of meeting them? She just didn't know.

Adrian laughed at Channah's um-ing.
Hang out sometime?
"Sure!" Adrian said a little too quickly, "I mean, sure." She laughed after that and stood from her chair, leaving the books behind. They probably would put themselves away sooner or later.
"It's getting late, and I'm kinda hungry. Should we head to dinner?" Adrian asked.
She was tired of being worried of someone yelling at them in the library for being too loud.
Luckily, Adrian eased her worries. Rather than simply agreeing and saying goodbye, she actually invited her to hang out like, immediately! Dinner together? And they weren't even in the same house! They were going out to eat? Well, staying in, but... Channah swallowed hard, like she understood. She could feel her hands quiver a little. How could such an easy word be so hard to say? Her emotions were flying all over the place and she didn't know what to do.
"Okay."
She smiled. For some reason it felt like it'd be appropriate to offer the other girl a hand to hold so they could walk down together... but she must have been reading too many romance books, or watching too many shows, or, or something, so she kept her hands to herself, and made to move towards the door.
